Chicken waste

Morning News covers an Oklahoma meeting over methods to deal with the Arkansas chicken waste that is polluting the Illinois River. Noted: 1) Poultry industry didn't much care until Oklahoma sued them. 2) Work is underway to get Arkansas and Oklahoma to seek tax money to help pay for cleanup efforts. Poultry lobbyist Morril Harriman (old legislative pal of Mike!) explains the poultry industry's good works.

Comments

There is nothing about this problem that Martha Genevieve could not have solved, if she were still alive.

If Arkansas can't grow chickens without ruining the water in Oklahoma, then Arkansas should not grow chickens.

If Washington and Benton counties can't grow cities without ruining the water in Oklahoma, then they should not grow cities.

It is just as simple as that.
