DeLay in 'last throes'
Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay is fighting an uphill battle to keep his congressional seat from going to a Democrat in November.
DeLay intends to withdraw as a candidate for Congress, a Republican strategist said Tuesday, a step that would allow the party to field a write-in candidate in hopes of holding his seat.
The development came one day after Texas Republicans lost a court battle in their bid to replace DeLay on the November ballot.
There will be no Republican candidate to face Democrat Nick Lampson, a former House member.
Texas Republicans on Monday abandoned their court fight to replace DeLay on the November ballot after being turned back at the Supreme Court.

Why isn't Bush invoking his unlimited power to fight terrorism to put DeLay back on the ballot? It's no more out of line than many other things he's done to fight the "war" on terror.
(I say "war" because to be in an actual war means you have a chance of losing. For example, in WW2 France and Poland were not long at war with Hitler. Thereafter, they were occupied, just as we occupy Iraq).

This has got to make Gunner proud. Gunner had better throw a few more wild press conferences while he can.
Tom's not the only DeLay whose in his last throes!

It's not like the Republican machine to screw up like this. I suspect they're up to something, making it look like Scalia has dealt the congressional seat a death blow (by putting a Democrat in it). In the end, they'll figure out a way to get the seat.
They can't beat Osama. They can't beat the Iraqi resistance. But they sure can beat the American political system like a drum.

Whew! I got all excited. The headline made me think Jesus was calling his servant home. Good! Let DeLay live to see some prison time.
Wonder how he's going to like it when his cell mates redistrict his hind quarters. DeLay's sure got a pretty pension on him......squeal!

I must agree Dee Bee Eye. But, down deep old Tom will be a very good person.
What does a fallen Christain do? Beg forgivenesss, blame his accusers(current tactic), get an audience with notable preachers
since Bush will drop him faster than he did Key Lay? "Uh let's see, I think I recall him being in the Wht House once but I wasn't there."
And speaking of Ken, down deep he is a good person.

Hey Roland - he's on the ballot! The republicans were trying to take him off so that another candidate could run. Just like the dims did in New Jersey in 2004. I guess Texas judges follow the law more than Jersey judges. It would be a hoot if Delay were actually re-elected while not campainging following his disgraceful antics and forced resignation

Some images are best left not conjured up. DeLay doing a Deliverance squeal is one of them.

You clinton fans love to make fun of delay. clinton an adulterer who disgraced the office of president and was impeached is a higher standard than delay. Give me a break. He is a joke.

Impeached and found NOT GUILTY, thank you very much. I'll be happy to forgive a man for dipping his wick when a prime opportunity arises, because men will be men.
I will not forgive a crook who bribes, steals, strong-arms, and lies about things that cost other people money. I've committed adultery in my life, but I've never been a crook. When a man has sex he gives. When a crook is done, he takes. I like a giving spirit.
DeLay is a crook who deserves a nice stretch behind bars. And I just bet he gets it.
And isn't it a shame about Lieberman. Tsk tsk.

Delay got his just desserts in being consumed in his attempts to rearrange the voting map in his quest for total Republican world. There may not be fair justice among men, but the laws of nature and karma rule. Clinton may be slime, but Delay sets a new low as a bottom feeder.

ROFL. U think you are winning the war on terror? you think there was ever a war on terror in the first place or just a land grab by your oil greedy government, a great way to get into iraq? You and people like you make me ill, your stupidity knows no bounds.
