Fire at Cabot junior high school
A fire at Cabot Junior High-North this afternoon caused severe damage, and one injury was reported.
Class registration began today and children were on the premises. The academic year is scheduled to begin on Aug. 21, but it is unlikely that the building will re-open by then.

Well, here's a use for the FEMA trailers.

What can their excuse be for not installing a sprinkler system? I wonder how much money that choice saved?

they have my sympathies. a fire destroyed part of our new high school when I was a junior (yes, dinosaurs DID still roam the earth back then and it took the fire dept a hell of a time to get there because of that). It's a mess, and its such a loss to the community.
our fire was arson but no one was ever charged. of course we all "knew" who did it.

I wonder if some of the kids will have to go to school in (gasp!) Jacksonville!

That's so Cabot...they'd rather burn it down than integrate...

I once taught civics in that building. It was a really nice facility.
Any word on what caused the fire?

I knew there would be some negative comments about the school burning down deriding the Cabot kids. Awful, just awful.

Cabot IS integrated you bozos.
Black people choose not to live in North Lonoke County.
Should I feel guilty and move to Pulaski county?
IDIOTS!
(I'd rather go to school at a burned out Cabot than a brand new McClellan)

The school burns down and KTHV's lead story tonight was how football practice is affected. Let's get our priorities in order.

It seems rather odd the entire school could burn so quickly. Once the fire was discovered in the media center, how long did it take for the firemen to arrive? This situation has the same kind of stench as the teacher in Hot Springs(I think) who cried assault when nothing actually happened. She later confessed to the lie and resigned her position, as she should. I hope it all works out for the students, parents, and teachers at Cabot; they deserve a great year.

Dude, the flames were 80 feet high almost immediately.
The firemen got there within minutes - cabot isn't big
BUT, word is that the Cabot FD wasn't prepared to battle with 80 foot high flames...
No conspiracy, no shenanigans... just an overheated computer Server causing an electrical fire (answer to 'how did it spread so fast = computer server & electrical fires have clear path to entire building in form of burning wires).......
Twas nature, not a conspiracy, anon!

Dude, thanks for the insight. According to the news report, the investigation is not complete, so I hope you are correct: 'nature' is he culprit. The school, from the pictures, looked to be a really nice structure. With any luck, the students will not have to miss too many days from school.

There was a sprinker system, but the fire spread in the attic above the sprinklers.

It was caused by a light bulb you geniuses. I was there about 10 min. before it burnt down. My brother just started going there. They said that it might take 2 yrs to build a new one. I may not get to be in the building until the middle of the year next year.
