Fourth and rising
Hotline, the blogs say, put The Huckster fourth in the GOP sweepstakes behind, in order, McCain, Romney and Guiliani. Truth is, quote us, The Huckster is better than his betters in that field.

You're absolutely right. And isn't it a pity.
Romney's popularity is particularly difficult to explain. I think folks must have him confused with his daddy.

"The Huckster is better than his betters in that field "
You would rather have Huckabee, who is a marginal public figure and socially to the right of Pat Robertson, over McCain and Guiliani? Those are two legitimates moderates who won't make an issue of things like gay marriage or abortion and will instead focus on righting Americas' fiscal ship.
Now, if by Huckabee being "better" you mean more likely to put a Democrat in office, then fair enough.
Both McCain, age not considered, and Giuliani bring more to the table than either of the candidates in the last election. Let's hope the Dems offer up a candidate of comparable viability.

The link itself, if you follow it all the way (and not just to the blog this one links to) goes to the National Journal's Hotline. That's not a blog; it's a highly respected politcal study group.

"..a governor[huck] who raised the minimum wage has the credibility to do that. Then again, a Republican who raised the minimum wage has problems with other parts of the base."
This is quite a crock. A group of moderate-liberal ministers brought up the min wage issue in Ark. Huckabee just went along to keep it from spreading. Hopefully if his campaign gets traction AT will have a warehouse of Huck's ghosts to share with others. Huck may not invite AT to the party but the bigger party can sure come to AT.
