Heat advisories issued in Arkansas
Not that you need us to remind you, but it's hot out there.
The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories for most Arkansas counties, and some counties are under additional "excessive heat warnings."
These will remain in effect through at least tomorrow, so be careful if you have to spend time outdoors.

Just in from banding some bull calves (that means makin' 'em steers to those of you with soft hands). I can report it is pig sweatin' hot. Just the right weather to get the boys ready for football.

As hot as it is here, they are also forecasting temperatures over 100 degrees in New York City up into Connecticut. Most homes in the northeast are built with great heating systems but no air conditioning. This is similar to the MN temps over the week-end and Oregon and Washington state last week
It is getting warmer and frankly, I hope that that new tropical storm doesn't become a hurricane but stays a rather wide and wet tropical storm all the way to the Gulf Coast..

How hot is it?

No doubt, the high heat of this date reminds Drew Pritt of a period just like this only a few years ago and the high heat caused him to realize that he would someday be governor and actually be able to do something about the weather.
The question is whether the high heat was from the outside weather or generating from the paper of the check he was writing.

The best weather report in the state comes from Carol Allen at Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods. She sends a daily update that is very helpful in travel and event planning. If you want to subscribe (no charge), email her at carol.allen@cjrw.com

Fed Up, I agree. Though it's pretty sad when you have to rely on tropical weather for any form of preciptation.
I've lost two trees to drought this summer...one went so fast I had barely begun slow soaking the soil before the whole thing was brown. An older Walnut is next in line.
Whether or not humans are a part of the problem is a question for a larger authority than me, but something is definately up. And cleary we're not interested in being a part of the solution.

See? The Times IS a legitimate news source... they're talkin' about how hot it is.

I work about 50/50 indoors/outdoors...and on the third floor of an old office building (no elevator) where the A/C is barely blowing cold air.
Like Warwick said, no need to tell you how hot it is...you already know. But in my work routine (yes, anony$taffer proponet of elimination of "Death Tax", I do work and pay taxes), I see lots of contractors, landscape crews, etc. and they are dyin'.
The A/C went out at my great aunt's retirement home a couple of weeks ago when it was 102...took two days to fix it. If you know any elderly people, check on them...today.

Observer is right. Carol Allen's weather report is the best around. I depend on it.

Carol Allen does a great job. My supervisor circulates to everyone in our company.
Carol could start her very own blog or newspaper column.
