More poll numbers -- UPDATED
Here's Survey USA on the race for lt. gov. -- Halter, 48; Holt, 39; undecided, 12.
The margins are wider in races for other constitutional officers, as well as that for governor, mentioned earlier.
Mark Raines, news director at KTHV, says the link we supplied this morning was for an earlier KTHV poll. The numbers are slightly different for the installment to be announced tonight at 10 -- 50 Halter, 41 Holt and 8 undecided.. They'll have secretary of state numbers at 5 today and attorney general at 6, both with big leads for the Dems, just as Mike Beebe enjoyed in the governor's race.
And this appears to be a correct link to the internal numbers on the polling. In answer to a reader question, the party identification breakdown is 42 D, 28 R and 26 I. From that link:
Democrats Sweep Arkansas State Offices: In a general election in Arkansas today, 8/30/06, Democrats win in contests for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, and Attorney General, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KTHV-TV Little Rock. The election is on 11/7/06. For Governor, Democrat Mike Beebe beats Republican Asa Hutchinson, 55% to 38%. Since an identical SurveyUSA KTHV-TV poll 6 weeks ago, Beebe has gained 7 points and Hutchinson is unchanged. Beebe's lead has increased from 10 to 17 points. Incumbent Republican Governor Mike Huckabee is term-limited. For Lieutenant Governor, Democrat Bill Halter beats Republican Jim Holt, 50% to 41%. 6 weeks ago, Halter led by 9; he still does. Incumbent Republican Lieutenant Governor Win Rockefeller, who was not running for re-election, died 7/16/06. For Secretary of State, incumbent Democrat Charlie Daniels beats Republican Jim Lagrone, 57% to 33%. 6 weeks ago, Daniels led by 23, now leads by 24. For Attorney General, Democrat Dustin McDaniel beats Republican Gunner DeLay 53% to 35%. 6 weeks ago, McDaniel led by 15, now leads by 18.

Comments
I'd say the numbers are greatly influenced by how the names sound to people who don't know either candidate.
Halter simply needs to bring out some TV ads reminding people who he is, and more importantly, who his opponent is.

My advice would be for Halter to stay positive and never mention Holt. As soon as Jesus Jim hits the airwaves, he will hang himself with his own rope.

Any word on the KTHV methodology? Are they statewide-are they just in the KTHV viewing area-are they broken down by district?
How many D's and R's?
ARK. BLOG: They haven't posted internals on this one yet. They generally do after all polls in a particular round are released. But you can view them on previous installments by going to surveyusa.com The sample is drawn statewide, with concentration on the major population centers. I don't know what numbers they show on this poll, but there should be more people who identify themselves as Democrats in the sample because more people in Arkansas identify themselves as Democrats or leaning Democrat. That's how you get 67 Democratic sheriffs among 75 counties.

I just got the numbers via my news reader. They were posted on ArkansasPolitics.com apparently
http://arkansaspolitics.com
Are these the current numbers? Looks like it to me.
ARK. BLOG: These numbers are different from the ones in link supplied this morning and appear to be the correct ones.

I love these polls - when they call your house, especially at dinner or some other inappropriate time, you can toy with them and give them hopelessly erratic answers. It's great fun!
Kinda makes you wonder how much margin of error they should be allowing!

I just received an update for http://arkansaspolitics.com through the newsfeed. All that seemed to change was a link to crosstab info. Breaks the numbers down to just about everything.
ARK. BLOGYes, you've told us twice now.

Max you should give credit to arkansas politics blog for providing you with the link to the results. You added the link to your orginal blog post but didn't mention who tipped you off. I also noticed a link to the results was deleted in an earlier thread about the polls. What gives?
ARK. BLOGHere's the deal. After I was given the wrong link, I was given the correct numbers by Channel 11, but was going to hold them until air. Two different posts then cited the blog link. Those posts continue to be in the comments section, along with this. So I've now added the numbers since it seems pointless to hold them. (A Democratic troll has attempted to post this link, oh, four or five more times.) You've had your bite at the apple. I try to police repetitive comments. I will continue to do so. It seemed to me self-evident from the thread that the politics blog had the link to the poll data first.

Max,
While we're disappointed you fail to give us credit for being first with the numbers, there are no hard feelings on our part. We will keep the links to your blog on ours and invite you to do the same once we officially launch next week.
Richard
PS. Thanks for giving us something else to post about before our launch.
ARK. BLOGIf you'll read more carefully you'll see I did credit you some time ago for posting the link first.

"..you can toy with them and give them hopelessly erratic answers. It's great fun!"
Yes I agree. When Jesus Jim's automated call comes and there is JJ's somber recorded voice on the other end awaiting a reply it's fun to tell the machine you are registered to vote and that you feel
(1)strongly (2) moderately
(3) not interested
in his race. All three phone numbers in our house tell the machine we feel strongly and will vote for him. Then we encourage about 10 neighbors to do the same. Great fun! Gives wingnuts a few minutes of reprive before going down the sleeze toilet.

Now yes, but not originally. And only in a response to a blogger. No mention in the actual post though. But hey, that's your call.
ARK. BLOGThere's a long story on this item. Call me some time and I'll elaborate. I wish you well.

OK, while we're laying all the cards on the table here, this blog has posted articles before related, at least indirectly, to sex (all things relate, at least indirectly, to sex or food).
I'm pretty sure I'm the first person to have discovered said sex, and was not given credit.
Deathbyinches thinks he discovered sex first, but I know the honeymoon story and thus know that I beat him to it.
Maybe I should start plugging my own business here, too.
We seem to have a rash of Greasy Spoon Blog and Arkansas Political Animals Blog plugs here this week.
This is not the place folks, in my humble opinion. Build your reputation and readership through your own good work, the way Arkansas Times has.

Who cares who had the numbers first? I think Max has been honest here.
The point is that apparently Democrats lead in every statewide race.
That's good news to me.

Yes...if the good news had come by carrier pigeon, it's still good news. If this trend is repeated all across America on election day this November, we'll be on our way to reclaiming our country from the Party of Evil that has come within a hair of destroying the greatest country on earth.
Like pushing a rope thru a sea of molasses, the American people are often slow to react to emergencies. While some of us saw warning signs early on, it has taken the majority 6 years to wake up to the fact that the Bush administration is morally dishonest, criminally insane, and has an agenda that is as un-American as anything Hitler or Stalin attempted to pull off.
And pull it off, they very nearly did. Our nation is teetering on the edge, the Middle East is sizzling like bacon in a hot pan. One false move on anyone's part and the world will explode. The Democrats are not perfect, they don't have all the answers, but a regime change in America will signal the rest of the world to chill, the Middle East's blood pressure will begin to fall. We'll see immediate results and then maybe smarter minds will try negotiation instead of war to solve the problems of the world.
Good news!! The cavalry is coming over the ridge in November, circle the wagons and hold the fort until then!

Until the GOP starts running more moderate candidates as opposed to the NWA Bob Jones crowd, this will continue to happen. Nobody outside of NWA likes the Hutchinsons or Holt and it's showing. Huckabee at least came to the middle on some issues, though he acted like a fundamentalist at times as well. If Win Rockefeller had run I think we'd have a hell of a race on our hands.

The thing I love about this poll, is when you check the cross tabs, you find that Jim Holt gets 59% of the Hispanic vote.

When you put up all radical candidates, you are going to get swept.
More moderate Republicans, if there are any in Arkansas, would have fared well in several of these races.

Spirit says: "This is not the place folks, in my humble opinion. Build your reputation and readership through your own good work, the way Arkansas Times has."
Says the person that never fails to link their name to their own blog....what a hypocrite. I don't understand why Max deleted my post that simply mentioned the link to the poll's cross tabs. Max can lie and say it was repetative but I know better. You took that information and added it to your orignal post so obviously you thought it was useful. Max are you scared of this other blog or you just pissed off at them? Clearly just my posting a link to the other blog set you off. As a poster I have contributed to this blog as have others. You may have a right to censor us but don't expect us to patronize your blog if you do. If people ever have an option to your blog they will take it. I guess you know that, huh?
