Sleazebag of the day, Part II

Whitewater students will remember David Bossie, the conservative hit man who served up Republican oppo research to willing media stooges, particularly at ABC. Washington Post says he's now working on the immigration issue, specifically a documentary, "Border War," on the evils of illegal immigration.

Comments

Wasn't Bossie the prick who attacked the former head of the Securities commission? That pos needs to be thrown under the jai.

Bossie and company's attitudes all makes sense to me. Let's arrest and hold in overcrowded jails illegal Mexican workers -- those who gut our chickens, who wait on some of us at country clubs and restaurants, who manicure our grounds, who do the grunt work in 100 degree heat on our construction projects, ad infinitum. They are lawbreakers, you understand. Hard workers, yes, but lawbreakers nonetheless.

With these desperados to capture, why should we concern ourselves with what today's MSNBC characterizes as the "perfect storm" of violent crime noted throughout this country (and locally)? "Police blotters in [Washington, D.C.], Seattle, Indianapolis, Minneapolis and other cities paint . . . violent pictures: After a decade of decline, violent crime is on the rise across the U.S. Assault and rape rose 2.5 percent between 2004 and 2005, according to the FBI's latest report of national crime trends. Murder and robbery are up nearly 5 percent - the sharpest increase since 1991. Medium-sized cities of between 50,000 and 500,000 have been the bloodiest."

Ah, you say . . . but, you say . . . apples and oranges . . . local versus federal . . .

Say, don't I remember a time when our federal government was interested enough in our own country to support increased police funding? Support which has disappeared since we decided to police the world, or at least the oil-producing parts of it -- essentially alone -- again? And how much good has that world policing done? Continued skirmishes in Afghanistan and still no bin Laden? Near, if not actual, civil war in Iraq in spite of our presence there, if indeed not as a result of our presence there?

But . . . but . . . but . . . you say. Hispanic lawbreakers all! Jail them! Jail them!

Can we hope for a change in Bossie and company's attitude? Maybe when someone tries to carjack them? Or takes a potshot at them? Nah, they'd probably think it happened because some Mexican took an American's coveted chicken guttin' job.
