A draw
That's Brummett's call on the first gubernatorial debate. Each candidate scores. But a tie goes to the front-runner, which would be Mike!

I have to agree with Brummett on this one. I was there Monday night and gave a slight edge to Beebe. Overall, Beebe seemed to connect with the audience better with his comfortable, "I'm one of you" manner. There was muffled laughter around where I was sitting when Asa tried to follow suit by talking about his wife looking for change in the couch cushions when they were first married. Asa scored some points with discourse on the immediate repeal of the grocery tax. But, in his closing statement, he seemed to go into "pandering" mode when he started listing his endorsements of the NRA and the Right to Life groups. It was almost like he was trying to say, "Hey folks, forget about what I just spent an hour discussing and vote for me because I won't take your guns or kill any unborn babies." For a politician, Beebe came off more sincere, even when he didn't seem to have a good answer for the debate question regarding border issues.

I see from the lack of comments that few care to discuss the phony informercial.
If I were in the debates, there would be plenty to discuss I guarantee you. Regarding the polls that some point to that exclude me from the debates, the quote below found it's way to my inbox today:
"Last night, I got a call from a pollster and the conversation went like this:
Says she, "If you were to vote today for governor, would you vote for Mike Beebe or Asa Hutchinson."
Says I, "Are those my only two choices?"
Says she, "Well....uh.... or are you undecided?"
Says I, "No, Id' vote for Rod Bryan."
Says she, "Uh...well, okay, thank you."
