Chicken s***
Arkansas poultry giants -- under the guise of education and information -- are airing TV ads in Oklahoma that seemed design to pollute the jury pool for trials over watershed pollution from poultry runoff and also to influence the race for attorney general in Oklahoma, where the sitting attorney general has gone after the polluters. Don't be silly says mouthpiece Archie Schaffer. Uh huh. Wonder if they have an educating to do in Arkansas races? Or just perhaps nothing to fear from anybody running for office here?
This is a story in NW edition of the Democrat-Gazette. Maybe I missed it in LR edition.

It is extremely fashionable in this state to chortle at the downstream people as s*** in dumped in their water -- Perry County is perhaps the poster child for crapping on thy neighbor -- but this is still yet another black mark for Beebe and another reason to vote third party.

Isnt that just throwing your vote away, to vote third party?
no wonder they want to discredit Drew Edmondson. I would too if he were after me. what a shameful way to treat our neighbors including those in perry county.

Our chicken shit runs into Oklahoma. Everyone and his sister knows it, we know it here in Fort Chicken, they know it in Fayetteville.
Governor Beebe may dodge little piles of stinking chicken shit for a while, but at some point in his term of office the chicken shit is going to hit the fan and Arkansas will have to face the grim facts that we cannot let the Chicken Kings keep fowling Oklahoma's water supply. Beebe better get a sign for his desk that says The Pullet Stops Here.
Mr. Tyson, Mr. Wendroth and 7 or 8 others will cry big crocodile tears, Governor Beebe may get down in the floor and cry with them, but a new plan will have to be drawn up and even if we have to pay 11 bucks for one naked chicken breast at the grocery store in the future, we can't continue to throw our chicken slop over the state line and pretend we don't know a thing about it.
I know who will win this game of chicken in the end and it won't be the state of Arkansas.

I, for one, can not support Beebe mainly because of this issue. Beebe's best friend while he was in the legislature, Morrill Harriman, Poultry Federation President, is the leading proponent for the polluters. Do you really believe that things will get cleaner if Morrill's best friend Mike is elected governor? I've got some swamp land I'd like to sell you.

Yep there is a lot of chicken s**** in NWA polluting the rivers. But folks seem to forget about all the cows s*** that is also screwing up our waters. More land has been cleared for cattle than anything lately. I live in rural Washington Co. and the chicken farmers are leaving the industry to raise cattle now. Unfortuantely, they need more land for cattle and are clear cutting and the run- off from that and the cattle is making things even worse around here. It's hard to go outside some mornings because of all the lovely aromas from the chicks and cows. Double trouble for our rivers.
