Taking down The Dean

The Daily Howler, who's long chronicled the Bush team's co-option of Washington pundits, is on a roll today. It's a brutal takedown of the sanctimonious David Broder, often lionized as the dean of Washington pundits. Point-by-point, the Howler's Bob Somerby shows how Broder pandered to and misjudged Bush even as he was unfairly trashing Al Gore. Broder at last saw the light this week, though he suggests nobody could have known how lawless and reckless Bush would turn out to be back in 2000. Right. And still, The Dean, who thought Bill Clinton should resign for evading the truth about a sex act, does not call on a self-described unconstitutionally acting, lawless and reckless president to do the same. No right-wing conspiracy is necessary with tools like Broder around. I hope someone sends him this piece.

Comments

This prune-faced old fraud has been getting his hiney kissed for decades by people who mistake his lack of anything to say for depth.

Just watch how the other D.C. butt-smackers defer to him on Washington Week and other places.

Now he's slobbering a sort of apology for his role in electing the most lawless gang to come along since the Northfield, Minnesota, holdups.

I'm with Max. Screw him.

Sad, angry, perverse, and tragic all at the same time. Broder should now work to undo what he helped wrought on the United States. He should redeem himself by joining the likes of Rep. John Conyers and move to impeach the "lawless and reckless" president he helped put in power. They should be joined by every last person who voted for Bush who has any moral/ethical fortitude. Add them to the 50% who already saw through the cowboy and we can get rid of the bastard early next year. Be gone foul prince.

Well, well, well, even old Broder is looking like another big rat jumping off the Bushco sinking ship......sort of. I hope that shortly he will just say it right: that he is a fool.
If only some of the "Bush defenders no matter what" who frequent this blog would do the same and admit that Bush is just a big screw-up and that everything the ever became involved with turned into a snafu, it would make my day.
