Tax and condemn

By popular demand we note that the Republican Party-financed "independent" 527 -- the Coalition for Arkanas' Future -- is touting new ads scoring Mike Beebe for voting for tax increases and for saying Arkansas's constitutional protection of private property is sufficient despite a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that allowed limited private-to-private condemnations in Connecticut.

The tax record is the tax record. Beebe can make a persuasive case that the state needed the money and also that he was the architect (lamentably in our view) of a huge property tax break that was designed to quell a property tax rebellion. If he can't make that case, he shouldn't be elected. Condemnation is a bogus issue. Not a piece of property in Arkansas has been threatened on account of the Connecticut ruling and the state Constitution will be powerfully hard to override should it happen.

Speaking of ads: Kenny Mac makes a comment on an earlier blog post that's worth highlighting. It was about the A$a ads vowing that the state wouldn't hire illegal aliens on HIS watch. Is A$a suggesting that Arkansas (Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee, prop.) is hiring illegal aliens? Could he get his campaign partner to please stop?

Comments

Sweet.

They're telling the truth about Beebe's tax-raising record.

That group needs to come clean on the lies and dis-information they have put out in the past before you can give any consideration to what they are now saying.

That 527 is doing the Arkansas equivalent of swift-boating. They've been caught in lies but continue their unethical behavior.

It should be illegal to use these groups. If Asa had any ethics at all, he'd repudiate their nonsense.

I don't know what kind of future they envision, but I don't want to live in it.

Beebe doesn't know whats about to hit him.

As Bob McCord says in his column this week, the Governor's race is going to be "very close."

Arturdo

Take your nonsense back to Ark Fam Coalition. You are becoming very boring.

BR549-

Why are liberal idea welcome here, but conservative ones not?

Also, are you saying that McCord is wrong?

Arturdo,

Same goes for Ark Fam Coalition and yes McCord is wrong. Move on please.

BR549,
You seem a little peeved. Upset that Beebe's real record is being aired?

Sheesh...staffers everywhere...

Staffers?

If you're talking staffers then you must be referring to all of the "black slashed" Asa signs that Beebe's staffers have hit.

Well, it looks like Ol Mike is finally getting called on the carpet for his gawd awful campaign. Beebe and the Democrats are a total joke. Have you ever seen a group of people with less political sense than the people running Beebe's campaign.

Beebe's people have let Asa define every aspect of this race, and now Asa is going to pound Beebe for all of the stupid things he has said for the last two years.

The Dems have been counting on a money advantage to win this race, well after last night's event with W that advantage is gone. I expect to see more commercials for Asa than Beebe for the rest of this race.

Democratic Hubris has given this race to Asa. I love it.

Sorry...

I meant $taffer$...

For a laugh...please...

Democratic Hubris is not something the Dems have been acused of in some years. This is proof A$a has given the race back to Beebe. I love it.

I need to get me one of those for the front yard.

BTW my kid saw a Asa sign the other day and read it as assa....whoa we got a chuckle outa that around here.
sigh
Good Times....
