The company you keep
The lefty blogs are beating the drums today about the "family values" summit up in D.C., where some of the leading purveyors of bigotry are gathering to cheer the likes of Ann Coulter and national political wannabes like The Huckster. Says this one:
I want the media to make Governor Mitt Romney, Sens. George Allen, Sam Brownback, Governor Mike Huckabee, Reps. Mike Pence and Marilyn Musgrave finally admit that the rantings of a lunatic are at the heart of the core values they embrace. Ann Coulter repeatedly calls Democrats traitors, terrorist lovers and everything else under the sun while she cheerfully opined that the 9/11 widows were very happy that their husbands were killed in the Twin Towers. No more can they claim anything otherwise since she’s scheduled at this event. With Tony Snow signing up we can also chalk up the White House as another supporter of Coulter’s vicious and insipid rantings.
Our view. Coulter is abominable, but mostly a cartoon character. Far more dangerous are the sponsors of this event -- Dobson, Wildmon, etc. That's the association that should really trouble voters considering the politicians who pander to them.

max, i totally agree with you. i think coulter is slowly wearing out her welcome except to the worst of the wingnuts who are so crazy they wear tin foil hats at home to protect them from liberals. i don't see her on tv as much on regular channels since i don't watch faux. the most dangerous combination i can think of would be a president who would really pander to these so called religious right nuts like dobson and wildmon and huckabee would be the one. they would wrap him around their little finger and he is not strong enough to say no. he can't not pardon someone if they tell him they are a christain. that is why arkansans must convince the rest of the country huckabee must be stopped. they don't understand the danger and i don't think the moderates of the country want more of what we have.

At the risk of offending my Catholic friends, asking Ann Coulter's advice about Family Values is like asking the Pope about sex. Does Ann Coulter have a family? NO! She makes her money going around the country preaching hate and screaming her head off. Could someone show me a Family Value she displays at any time?
If she didn't have long legs and long blonde hair people would check into the things she says and see that most of it isn't grounded in fact. Remember facts, Ann? I doubt it. Look at the company Huckabee is keeping these days. I wouldn't let my dog in the same room with them. Up to now there has been no war on religion, but his dog pack makes me think it's a damn good time to start one. They need to go now!
Please Governor Argue, take this opportunity to start implementing your plan for Arkansas. We can get a head start on January, 2007 and help Beebe be a couple of miles on down the road to raising Arkansas out of 49th in everything.

Despite the GOP's hostility to gays and gay issues, I am at least encouraged that transgendered persons like Ann Coulter and Gary Bauer have a seat at the Family Values [tm] table. Throw Jeff Gannon in there and you can have a GOP Pride Parade. The Left should stop persecuting poor Ann Coulter and embrace her as an example of GLBT empowerment.

I agree that fundamentlist religionists are even more dangerous than the Ann Coulters and Rush Limbaughs of the world who monger hate for fun and profit. As it happened, my snail mail today brought word of a joint effort by The Interfaith Alliance and Americans United for Separation of Church and State that gives people concerned about freedom of religion (or freedom from religion) another way to counter the fundamentalist juggernaut. Check it out at www.firstfreedomfirst.org.

We are promised the Second Coming of our Lord Jesus can happen the "blinking of an eye."
I've had a recurring dream which has become an ephiphany
The Second Coming happend shortly after World War II. The Chosen were taken and we are truly living in Hell, it's getting hotter every year and sinners and madpeople are running things, polluting us all to dickens because that's what hell is like, threatening us with nuclear anililation. Now and then the managers of this Hell we're in send ones like Coulter or Dobson to remind us that we were LEFT BEHIND!
