A lot of sauce, no meat
BILL HALTER NEWS RELEASE
Little Rock – Candidate for lieutenant governor Jim Holt says on his website (http://www.jimholt.us/AboutJim_position.html) that “Most candidates avoid being specific. They deliberately try to keep evasive.”
“On his own website Jim Holt criticizes candidates who are not specific, describing them as being evasive,” remarked Bill Halter’s campaign spokesman, Bud Jackson. “But Jim Holt hasn’t put forward any specific plans for what he would do as lieutenant governor to make our schools excellent, build and attract higher paying jobs and to move Arkansas into the future. In fact, other than the few hot-button issues he talks about, he has no other plans at all.”
“Jim Holt’s lack of substance is consistent with his failure as a state legislator,” said Jackson. “Jim Holt earned the distinction of being named one of Arkansas’ worst legislators because of his ability to combine heated rhetoric with no substance. Jim Holt has devised a formula for failure that Arkansans can expect if he is elected lieutenant governor.”
With less than one month to go until the election, Holt’s positions on illegal immigration and gay issues have been widely reported while his lack of specific plans has not.
Holt and his campaign even admit through their website that Holt’s policy plans available on-line are leftover from his failed U.S. Senate race. The website promises plans specific to Arkansas, but fails to deliver any.
“Many of the following were responses to inquiries received during Jim's U.S. Senate race in 2004,” Holt states on his website. “Therefore, many concern issues which are strictly in the domain of the federal government.” Holt and his campaign then promise “As the campaign progresses, look for Jim to address other issues.”
Holt-- who recently attacked specific plans Halter had released months ago—has still failed to put out any plans of his own, including on his website.
“It would be in Arkansas’ best interests if Jim Holt stopped his negative attack campaign and began to put out some policy positions on what he intends to do as lieutenant governor,” Jackson concluded. “After campaigning for more than a year, all we have heard from Jim Holt is heated rhetoric on hot-button issues and absolutely no plans. Jim Holt’s campaign has a lot of sauce but no meat.”

I just saw two of Holt's campaign signs in North Little Rock-one on JFK and the other on Main. Both signs are on top of another of equal size that states PRO-LIFE and has tiny fetus footprints on it. You know, just so you don't get confused and vote for the other guy, who hates babies.

He has second (on the bottom) signs of all of the hot button issues: abortion, guns and illegials.
"Holt the Dolt" is what they should say!

I saw a Holt sign with "Keep Our Jobs in Arkansas". It's comical for the Lt. Gov. candidates to be exploiting all these issues that they have absolutely nothing to do with. But I think having a Lt. Gov. who's a national joke could be bad for our jobs, so I'll vote for Halter.

Previously I had predicted that Jim Holt would manage about the same per centage in 2006 as he did in 2004.
44%. There's always 30-40% of rwingnuts in Ark willing to vote for the one that pushes their hot buttons. The hot buttons are not so hot this time but his main supporters in Eastern Ark, ala Debbie Pelley and gang, have increased their bases.
Halter must put Jim Holt's feet to fire and corner him on how he supports his family of ELEVEN on his part-time salary of $15,000 year. The man hasn't held a real job since his Army days.
"Keep our jobs in Arkansas" but make conditions impossible for working parents. Somehow the 30-40% ers can't make the connection.

as far as i know the lt gov job consists of presiding over the senate every other year when in session and being gov when the gov is gone. what is all this other stuff that is being said in the campaign about and why? is the lt gov suddenly given super powers if holt gets the job? is he to be elected the head of the god and anti gay anti abortion official gun give away office? you must admit the possibility of a holt administration would be exciting. we would have more monkey trials, we could have the 10 commandments everywhere and this is from the lt gov seat. just think what he could do from the big seat.

Holt lives on charity, sad but true, in my opinion.
So, when he talks about jobs, we need to shout at him to get one.
Wait, I think John Brummett did call him on that a couple of months ago.

Holt used high-flalooting language to describe his spy career, something about high level responsibilities a few weeks ago. I just can't believe it. I wish someone could get the straight on what he did, why he doesn't any longer. But then, maybe not... not sure I could sleep at night knowing the nation's security depended on his sort.

My take on Holt's military career is that he was an enlisted-grade, low-to-mid-level analyst with the Army Security Agency, one of the military arms of the National Security Agency. And one shouldn't read too much into the term analyst. Most enlisted ASA analysts are glorified clerks. Someone should ask if Holt lost his Top Secret/Crypo clearance and had to leave the service.

For Halter to say that Holt has a lot of sauce and no meat is nutty. Everyone in this state that is attuned in any way to politics, knows what Holt stands for. He is even willing to put his issue signs under his name just in case they don't know. Pro life, pro traditional marriage, pro gun, pro local control, pro freedom, pro religion, pro morality, pro keeping our jobs here, anti illegal immigration, anti tax. Can anyone name some issues that don't fit under one of these topics. Does anyone not think that Halter knows how Holt stands on these issues?
Halter is the one that side steps every issue. He just refuses to discuss the issues, or lies about what he really stands for, and the media and people in Arkansas know that. Why does he pretend to be against homosexual marriage, against gay adoption, against illegal immigration, against consolidation, and on and on when most of you on this website are counting on him to stand for that when he is in office. Why are his commercials emphasizing sports and sidestepping the issues or attacking Holt instead of emphasizing his stands?
Halter calls Holt extreme and then adopts his positions. Everyone knows where Holt stands and that he is not going to change his stand whether he wins or loses. That is why the media bash him. They are afraid that if he breaks through the media bashing and makes it into high office that others might follow. The media has already been stumped by Holt in an area they have never failed in before. They had to stop bashing him and turned to dead silence because they finally figured out they were helping him when they bashed him because people agreed with Holt on the issues rather than with him. Hopefully Holt can break through that wall of silence as well. We will know in a month or so. This guy, as well as many others, are praying hard.

"Pro life, pro traditional marriage, pro gun, pro local control, pro freedom, pro religion, pro morality, pro keeping our jobs here, anti illegal immigration, anti tax."
Well isn't that special. He wasn't worth a damn for senate district 35. In fact he cost his hometown, Springdale, a $million dollars a year in tax revenues.
He officially protested the transfer of an existing liquor store liscene to Sam's Club. That means the same old monoply power Springdale has endured for years will remain, and Sam's Club will move to Fayetteville where they approved a liscene transfer. When that two-faced disaster monkey tried to back-track on it he looked as silly as a preacher who peed his pants.
The city fathers in Springdale are damn sure glad to be rid of Holt, the most ineffective legislator we've ever had. He's Worthless. Nothing but worn out hot-air.
Hope Halter sees the truth and reminds statewide voters the man has never made a living for his family.

Neither of these guys are going to do a damn thing. They are running for an office with no power. Why get your panties in a wad over a lack of specifics, when you're running for a powerless office?
Somebody needs to tell these guys that they are way too full of themselves.
I have seen Halter's TV ad twice this morning. His silly ad should have him in a cheerleader outfit because that is all the lt. gov will be.
