And the Foley scandal grows
A good government group notified the Justice Department -- the Bush Justice Department -- of questionable e-mails by Rep. Mark Foley in July. Action: Nothing. And now the Republicans think the compromised Justice Department -- headed by Bush's torturer general -- should investigate?

Comments
This is a huge blow-up for the Republican party. (No pun intended.)
Foley is disgraced, but the cover-up is the real story.
If I called myself a republican, I'd hide under the bed for awhile.

I'm interested in "there are worse scandals on Capitol Hill than naughty e-mails." What are they, Tony?

Bill Frist announced today that he thinks the Taliban should be invited back into the government of Afghanistan. He says we cannot defeat them militarily, so we might as well include them. THEM...the real people behind 9-11.
What part of "Democrats are soft on terror" does Senator Frist not understand. What crap! No Democrat, no sane person would suggest we should reward the Taliban with a few seats in the Afghanistan government. Republicans have obviously gone bat-shit crazy!

Where is Mr. Arturo Fuente on this? (Or, as he's known at Discovery and Easy Street, "Mr. Picante"). Perhaps he and the Honorable Mr. Foley and Mr. Mehlman can come to grips, so to speak, on what the Republican Party is all about and explain this to us.

ArTURDo Fuentes is heart-broken. He was hellbent on pinning every gay-related story on the Democrats, but I guess it backfired on him.
ArTURDo, come on out of the closet, we're on to you now.

Watching Bill Frist on The Dailey Show respond that if the Republicans had been "overly aggressive" in their investigation of Mark Foley they'd been called anti-homosexual was certainly enlightening. Is the spin that Republicans are pro-homosexual or that pedophilia is OK as long as it's not same sex?

Come on, boys, don't hound someone local like this. Jesus, grow up, Democrats, and let the Republicans fall on their own swords, will ya? They've been trying to do it for years but you've been getting in the way.

Come on, boys, don't hound a local over this. In fact, grow up, Democrats, and let the Republicans fall on their own swords, will ya? They've been trying to do it for years but you've been getting in the way.

Clinton's dalliance was with an of-age female with a thing for cigars (who had lost her virginity a long time before). He was impeached for that. Here is a case of a Republican who had a known track record of pervert activities via the internet and instant messaging with under age males. It appears that many of the Republican leadership knew about it, but ignored it. It was even so bad that the pages were warned to watch out for him. The Republicans desire to remain in office was outweighed by the need to protect these young men and women who work as Pages in our houses of Congress. Where is the outrage?

The newspaper that gave us every sordid word from the pornographic opus otherwise known as the Starr Report now blanches at the word "fart" in the comics pages and "dick" if the name belongs to a quarterback and edits the perverted (but funny -- any message from an adult using emoticons and 'LOL' is REALLY funny) messages of Mark Foley. Give the DOG an ounce of credit for publishing 1) hand job, 2) bulge, and 3) package.
I keep scouring Foley's words for "sausage party" but no luck yet!

Didn't US Surgeon General Joycelyn Elders advocate talking to teens about masturbation? It sounds like Foley took the advice a little too far.
What Rep Foley did was wrong. He has done the honorable thing and resigned his seat. And he will be punished - hopefully severely. If he had been a Democrat, he would have never resigned. He would have enlisted Senator Barney Frank's support and received a censure.
There is currently absolutely no evidence of a cover up. Nor is there evidence that this scandalous behavior is restricted to either political party. It is rumored that homosexual activities were rampant in the Whitehouse during a previous administration. Democrats are only "outraged" because it may be politically beneficial for them.
I'm sure that the other Reps did not want to hang out with the creepy gay representative, so they did not know about all of his closeted gay activities.
He certainly isn't the first to abuse his power, and he deserves to be punished to the full extent of the law. Since congress exempts itself from most laws, it will be curious to see whether he even goes to jail. It's time to make congress live under the same laws as the rest of us, and to have the same retirement and medical benefits as average citizens.

Congressman Wayne Hayes (D-Ohio) and Elizabeth Ray?
Remember the t-shirts worn by stenos on Capitol Hill that said, "At least I can type!"?

It's looking more and more, as every hour passes that Denny Hastert has Foley's DNA sprayed all over him. The rats are already deserting the old turtle's ship.
And there are report that former Pages are coming out of the woodwork with lots of new stories of interest. Maybe we should start spelling Congress....NAMBLA?

Poor Severus; you are such a homophobe.
Barney Frank is a Representative not a Senator. He was censured for his partner back in the 70's running a prostitution business out of their apartment.
Oh, do tell us about the gays in the Clinton White House. The fact that GLBT folks served openly [not in the closet] is a testament to Clinton's understanding that to be gay has no bearing on the quality of work someone can do. Why did your Boy George [doubt Severus will get that] allow a gay escort, Gannon, into the press room for a year? I hear when he stayed overnight the only consistent boy lodger was Georgie himself. Investigate that while you are looking into the Clinton queers!
Again, you show your incredible ignorance and bigotry --- there is nothing at all to equate Foley with being gay. He most likely fits the pattern of most pedofiles - heterosexual men who like to play with children. You certainly write like a heterosexual [or a deep, deep in the closet internally oppressed gay]; statistically you should be asked the question - how many little kids did you molest?
You need to get a brain, maybe then you can get a life.
