Bush lies
"State of Denial" reporting in Washington Post. Why not just say Bush and his administration lie -- repeatedly? Is there a difference between lie and a "discrepancy" between what the White House knew and what it said it knew?
There was a vast difference between what the White House and Pentagon knew about the situation in Iraq and what they were saying publicly. But the discrepancy was not surprising. In memos, reports and internal debates, high-level officials of the Bush administration have voiced their concern about the United States' ability to bring peace and stability to Iraq since early in the occupation.
Discrepancy not surprising? Only if you don't expect the president to tell the truth.

Comments
Unless somewhere in this book Woodhead states: I admit I have been used for years as a gullible, willing -- even eager -- tool for the Bush administration to disseminate the lies I chronicle in this book. . . .
Why should we place a shred more belief in what he writes here than in the lies he spread in trash such as "Bush at War"?

The depth and breath of lies permeating the bush white house is fathomless but we must ant forget the latest revelation about Jack Abramoff.
(Remembering the bib hooplas during the Clinton years about excessive Lincoln Bedroom Sleep overs?)
Don't know if the following contacts involved Lincoln Bedroom Sleep overs or but disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff and his colleagues billed their clients for more than 400 contacts with White House officials between 2001 and 2004, according to a report released yesterday by the House Government Reform Committee.

I started to trot out the endless list of Bush lies and then I thought...screw that. Let's make it easy! Can any living soul on this blog name something Bush hasn't lied about?
Can anyone provide a list of things that have been improved by the Bush touch? And if one smart cookie comes up with something good that Bush has done in the last 6 years, please be kind enough to back up your claim with at least one fact that doesn't come from crazy folks. And no, the lack of an attack inside the US since 2001 doesn't count because we've had whole centuries without attacks, so an attack is an exception, not the rule.
I'll be out for a few minutes marking Baptist's car tires with chalk marks. It means absolutely nothing, but it makes them nuts cause they can't figure out why they appear. Look Tom....the devil's been here again....oh lord.....

Colin Powell, 24 Feb 01, at a press conference in Cairo, Egypt, state this about Saddam Hussein and Iraqi war potential:
He has not developed any significant capability with respect to weapons of mass destruction. He is unable to project conventional power against his neighbors.
Both Powell before a senate committee and Condoleeza Rice in an interview with Wolf Blitzer state that the Iraqi military force is insignificant and that its capacity "has been contained."
This was a case of senior administration officials telling the truth before the truth became highly inconvenient, before Bush and war cronies needed every excuse they could muster to drive America into invading Iraq and bringing shock and awfulness to that country's people.
DBI, Colin knows what the administration's record is on the truth. He knows how they lied and distorted the facts to push us wrongfully into this war. His reputation as a statesman and leader became tainted by his association with the Bush regime and their machinations. I hope he had the balls to say, "I quit!" before they fired him if fire him they did.
As we know, good people can we used by the Dark Side. Just ask Colin.

"Colin Powell claims he was fired by the Bush Administration, according to his official biography which was excerpted in the Washington Post's Sunday magazine.
After his termination, Powell and the Bush Administration had used the cover story that Powell resigned of his own accord from his position as Secretary of State."
While I'm glad Powell is finally, finally, finally speaking out, but why for the love of Our Miss Brooks has he waited so long? A length of time that has killed thousands of our troops and 5 times the number of Iraqi civilians?
Did his hush money payments run out? Has Jesus been talking to him in his sleep? Thanks Colin....but gee...why so long?

Don Keyhotay, are you are a true American or a 30%er?
Can you really compare Clinton's lie about sex with Bush's hundreds of lies and call yourself a good American?
Are you twisted, insane, completely nuts?
What, in the name of God, will it take for you to admit that this moron sitting in the White house is the WORST PRESIDENT EVER?

DBI,
I guess even loyal Republicans can only ignore the stench so long.
Woodward has been an avowed Republican over thirty-six years regardless of his investigative work on the Watergate Cover-up of a President he voted for twice.
Colin Powell, USMA graduate, has been indoctrinated from youth throughout his adult life to obey, support and protect the superior placed over him (including the elected CinC). But he has finally remembered the other part of the oath that says "...protect the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic..."
There will be others. I can only hope it isn't too late for the U.S. and our Constitution.
