Gang of thieves

No, this is not a post about the former Bush FDA chief heading to the slammer or the tightening FBI noose around the Republican congressman from Pennsylvania. We have local crooks, too.

The LRPD says it thinks the same gang is responsible for four branch bank robberies dating back to April. A news release about a press conference tomorrow on the subject is on the jump.

LRPD news release

The Little Rock Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are seeking the public’s help in identifying several bank robbery suspects.  Four bank robberies were committed by the same group of suspects.  Three of the banks were branches of Twin City Bank.  The same branch of Twin City Bank has been robbed twice this year.  They are as follows:

● April 4, 2006 at 9:55 a.m.   Twin City Bank at 10315 I-30
● September 8, 2006 at 9:10 a.m.  Twin City Bank at 2922 S. University
● September 22, 2006  at 10:48 a.m.  Twin City Bank at 10315 I-30

These three branches of Twin City Bank were all robbed on these date around 10:00 a.m. by the same group of suspects.  U S Bank at 6004 Baseline was also robbed by these same suspects on October 11, 2006, at 3:17 p.m.

The suspects are described as black males wearing all black with masks and armed with handguns.  They rush in the bank and order everyone to the ground.  One of the suspects keeps his weapon pointed at the employees and patrons while the others take money from the bank by jumping the counter.  These suspects are very aggressive in the way they enter the bank and force employees to the floor.  The robbery at Twin City Bank on April 4, 2006, also involved a female suspect.  All other robberies have been males.

Several different suspect vehicles have been observed by witnesses.  On April 4th, they observed a white Saturn with fictitious license.  On September 8th, a charcoal grey Honda Accord with fictitious tags and a white late model GMC or Chevy Blazer with dark tinted windows was observed on October 11th.

Twin City Bank is offering a $5000 reward for the arrest and conviction of these robbery suspects.  If you have information regarding these robberies, please call the LRPD Robbery Unit at 371-4660 or the Federal Bureau of Investigation at 221-9100.

A 5th robbery occurred on September 14, 2006, at Centennial Bank located at 14309 Cantrell.  This robbery is not connected to the first group.  It is unsolved and detectives need your help in locating this suspect.  The suspect was a white male, mid 20’s, 6’ with light brown hair.  He made no effort to hide his identity.

Please contact the Little Rock Police Department if you have information about these crimes.
