Huck down; bingo up
More poll results from Stephens Media:
Huckabee favorability rating drops below 50 percent. (Has somebody noticed his appearances in Arkansas are mostly when things are named for him or his family?)
Hendrix College political science professor Jay Barth, who is a member of the Democratic Party state committee, said voters might feel the governor is not paying as much attention to the state as he should.
"Are voters sensing that his attention has turned away from his job and toward his future ambitions?" Barth asked. "He clearly has spent a lot of time out of Arkansas in the past few months."
Art English, political science professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, said Arkansans like their leaders close to home.
"That's really a high negative for a guy who really hasn't been that engaged, relatively speaking, in the last few months," said English, also a Democrat.
Also, the charity bingo amendment enjoyed a 68-24 edge in the poll.

Comments
With the GOP Scandalgate picking up steam (and cream), the Huckster has remained as quiet as a ruptured duck (which is what he is politically). Look for all GOP presidential hopefuls to remain undercover as their cohorts try to deal with the minimum page issue and the fact that it seems to be open season on lying admin officials.
Unfortunately, the Big One will probably get away. Dems and the media still should have some pretty good trophies when all is said and done.

Clinton's dalliance was with an of-age female with a thing for cigars (who had lost her virginity a long time before). He was impeached for that. Here is a case of a Republican who had a known track record of pervert activities via the internet and instant messaging with under age males. It appears that many of the Republican leaderhip knew about ikt, but ignored it. It was even so bad tthat the pages were warned to watch out for him. The Republications desire to remain in office was outweighted by the need to protect these young men and women who work as Pages in our houses of Congress. Where is the outrage?

I don't mean this as an accusation. Its a question:
Is it worse to fondle an of-age intern in the Oval Office (one who is still quite young) or chat (but not touch) about issues of a sexual nature with an intern who is not of age?
Seriously, I'm asking.
Your thoughts?

Anything sexual with anyone underage is still the more reprehensible of the two. Also, Foley has the appearance of being a predator which wasn't the case with Clinton.
Both are still bad, morally and politically. The GOP is hurt by Foley's problem but the critical damage is going to come from the coverup aspect. I strongly feel the public will find comparisons to Clinton to be desperate damage control and will ignore them mostly.

What does it say about us when we wholeheartenly support a form of gambling -- ok, ok, charity bingo is a very minor form -- and ban some familial relationships, that is, "gay" marriage. It seems that these are two of the major issues of the day for many people.
And unlike Rocky, I think I'm itchin' to see a fight. Not take part (probably), just watch.
How very perverse of me, you say? (Shrug.)

Hucka-who? Here I go again.....and one must ask what is wrong with the 50% of Arkansas people who think our absent Governor is doing a swell job? How many of us would still have a job if we didn't show up any more?
Not even the Huckster believes he's got a snowball's chance of being P or VP. He's using this pretend campaign to fatten his Pac and to avoid the last year of working as our Governor. Go tell your boss you're taking the next 5 weeks off to explore running for Jim Holt's seat and see what happens.
We're number 49 in everything, our Lt. Gov. is dead and our Governor is missing in action. Have you ever lived in more screwy times? If Oklahoma was smart they'd take this long moment of weakness and invade. Acting Governor Argue might fight them Okies off for a day or two, but in the end Arkansas would be no match for Oklahoma's Colburn Christian forces.
You all were hunting for a nickname for LR earlier in the week....if Oklahoma invades us it might be called Tulsa 2 by this time next year. Let's hire that kid from Alma to make up a Huckabee shirt and list his accomplishments on the back of it.
Better yet, don't you think it's time we put our missing Governor's picture on the back of milk cartons? Have You Seen This Governor?

Yeah, DBI, there is as much hypocrisy in the gamling issue as in the wet/dry issue. Benton County is legally "dry" but I understand it has 112 private clubs. Dry counties are led by folks who are anti-wet but are more than willing to take a share of the revenues generated by wet counties.
People who are against casino gambling and horse racing and dog racing and lotteries will rush to the polls to vote to gamble on bingo since it's for a "good" cause.

I think the proper response to this is to have a "Charitable Drinking" amendment. Anyone else for it?
