Hypocrisypalooza

On the jump, read all about the Huckahutch barnstorming tour to repeal the sales tax on groceries. The current governor, The Huckster, had 10 years to do it and never hit a lick in that direction. The would-be governor, A$a, started his campaign saying it wasn't on his agenda. Another tax sop for fat-cut manufacturers was his top priority. But when Mike Beebe got a little traction with the issue, A$a became a convert. For rank opportunism, this does beat all.

HUTCHINSON NEWS RELEASE

Asa Hutchinson, the 2006 Republican nominee for Arkansas Governor, today launched his “Sack the Tax” Blitz to focus attention on the savings that Arkansas families will realize through the elimination of the grocery tax.

At a news conference at the Save-A-Lot grocery store in Little Rock, Hutchinson was joined by Gov. Mike Huckabee as the two sacked groceries and talked to local residents about the savings that Arkansas families would see if the grocery tax is eliminated.

“Given the size of the state budget surplus, it’s clear that it’s time to kill this unfair tax,” Hutchinson said. “I’ve made a clear commitment to tax reform in this campaign, while my opponent has offered nothing but double-talk and empty promises. I want Arkansas voters to know that I am the only candidate in this race who has pledged to do away with the tax on food – immediately.

Hutchinson noted that if a family of four had a monthly grocery bill of $600, they could save more than $400 per year if the state’s six-cent tax on groceries were eliminated.

“Most families in Arkansas could certainly use an extra $400 per year to spend on clothes for the kids, school supplies or to put gas in the car,” Hutchinson said. “Putting more money into the hands of Arkansans will help to drive continued economic growth, which is one more good reason to get rid of this tax while we have the means to do it.”

Gov. Huckabee praised Hutchinson’s leadership and noted that Arkansas families would see a direct benefit from killing the tax sooner rather than later.

Asa's dead right -- he's right on the issue and he's right on the timing," Gov. Huckabee said. "With Asa as Governor, Arkansans would see a direct tax savings on the grocery receipts and benefit from the elimination of the grocery tax.”

The Little Rock stop was the first in Hutchinson’s “Sack the Tax” blitz through Arkansas, with subsequent stops planned in Fort Smith, Springdale, Pine Bluff, Jonesboro and Mountain Home in the coming days.

“With the state’s economic growth we’ve enjoyed in the last few years, we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to kill the grocery tax and put more money into the hands of working families,” Hutchinson said. “I think that’s a worthy goal, and I look forward to providing the leadership as Governor to achieve that goal.”

The ultimate ethic of politicans is getting (re) elected.

Kerry finally showing some spine. Responding to attacks by the Rove Machine (courtesy Kos):

"If anyone thinks a veteran would criticize the more than 140,000 heroes serving in Iraq and not the president who got us stuck there, they're crazy. This is the classic G.O.P. playbook. I'm sick and tired of these despicable Republican attacks that always seem to come from those who never can be found to serve in war, but love to attack those who did.

I'm not going to be lectured by a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece standing behind a podium, or doughy Rush Limbaugh, who no doubt today will take a break from belittling Michael J. Fox's Parkinson's disease to start lying about me just as they have lied about Iraq . It disgusts me that these Republican hacks, who have never worn the uniform of our country lie and distort so blatantly and carelessly about those who have.

The people who owe our troops an apology are George W. Bush and Dick Cheney who misled America into war and have given us a Katrina foreign policy that has betrayed our ideals, killed and maimed our soldiers, and widened the terrorist threat instead of defeating it. These Republicans are afraid to debate veterans who live and breathe the concerns of our troops, not the empty slogans of an Administration that sent our brave troops to war without body armor.

Bottom line, these Republicans want to debate straw men because they're afraid to debate real men. And this time it won't work because we're going to stay in their face with the truth and deny them even a sliver of light for their distortions. No Democrat will be bullied by an administration that has a cut and run policy in Afghanistan and a stand still and lose strategy in Iraq ."

I knew these Republican whores weren't going to let go of their hard won power without a fight. If we could only convince them that gay sex would insure their victory on November 7th, they'd be humping each other in the streets and we could all have a big laugh.

I remember when young Huckabee jumped up and said he was going to remove the tax on groceries. And then he was going to do less and then he was like going to mail each of us a dollar and then he went silent.

Now him and that lying sack'o shit Asa are out telling people NO TAX on your groceries!!! Why don't they just promise NO TAXES ever ever again. It's all a big lie anyway. And pity the poor folks dumb enough to buy anything from these 2 con artists. If you are reading this and you believe Huckabee and Asa are the truth and the light, then you need professional help. You're sick or real real dumb and you have my sympathies.

I am hoping that humans all have a point where they've had enough and that the time for that is now. Throw these rascals under the train when it passes on November 7th and let's see what the other side can do.

Next year I want all my buddies on the blog to continue to bash the Bush Crime Family but at the same time reserve time to see that our new Democratic leaders in the State of Arkansas do exactly what they say they'll do. Republican crooks make me mad, Democrat crooks make me mad and sad.

We can do better, but it starts with electing the right people and then holding their feet to the fire their whole term of office. Vote smart this November 7th. It's your hide you'll be saving.

"they'd be humping each other in the streets and we could all have a big laugh."

Well, I'm havin a big one on that! Seems
Asa and Hutch might start dirty dancing in the streets any time now or maybe just holding hands will do the trick.
Huck is about all that's left of palatable Repubs in these parts and
it seems it going to take lots of spice and wine to make him palatable to the nation.

Since the Booz-man is supposed running well ahead wonder why he hasn't done a hand n'hand with Asa?

Ole Deputy Dawg looking Mr. Boozman is best left alone watching reruns of Gun Smoke. He's not slick enough to run with Huck and Asa, he's the kid that no one wants when choosing up sides on the sand lot.

I like Mr. Boozman personally, I just hate his politics. It would take a skilled surgeon to remove his puckered lips from the Bush ass. He is without original thought, but takes damn good email directions from the White House.

We could save a ton of money by replacing him with a remote mechanical sign that is controlled from the Oval Office. Left flag YES, right flag NO.....we could save a lot of money. Go Woody!

DBI, You post so much that you need to get your own blog.

.....oh, never mind haha

DBI your bit on Booze-Man is the best ever. You should copyright it! That's just how he works, to a T.
Also steps in line with transporation needs of WallyWorld-Tyson-JB Hunt, his main backers.

You're right. Huckabee didn't try to repeal the grocery tax. Please, remind me why that's ironic and it's not ironic that Beebe didn't either.

Lets remember that not only did Beebe not try, he voted against it when, oh what was his name? JIM LENDALL put it before the legislature over a decade ago.

Jim Lendall is the only one in this race concerned about the little guy, so of course he doesnt stand a chance.

Bad info in above two posts. Beebe voted at least twice for Senate-passed sales tax repeals that foundered in the House.

Another bill sponsored byMr. Lendall inthe last session was an inventory of all the sales tax exemptions provided to various industries and corporations, proposing to delete them from the state tax code. If the workin' man has to pay sales tax on the bread earned by the sweat of his brow, then Big Bidness ought to be paying the same, as well ...

Okay, so he supposedly voted twice for the repeal and gave up, but somehow it was a priority of his 20 years in the senate?

Yeah, right.
