Iraq: Heckuva job

The big news is the failure of the military to track weapons intended for security forces.

But, somehow, this story more fundamentally illustrates how badly Bush misfigured that military might would make Iraq a beacon of freedom in the Middle East.

In today’s Iraq, with conservative religious parties and radical militias exerting growing influence over every aspect of life, even dancing is an act of bravery.

“Society is overwhelmed by these religious ideologies,” said Tariq Ibrahim, a male dancer in the Baghdad troupe, the Iraqi National Folklore Group. “Now a woman on the street without a head scarf attracts attention. What about a woman onstage dancing?”

"The big news is the failure of the military to track weapons intended for security forces."

Ain't nothing new here. Return with me now to yesteryear, it's 2004 and because no US troops were minding the store 380 tons of explosives were looted from the Al Qaqaa complex south of Baghdad.

Since then our troops have been getting the loot back 1 bomb at a time....wonder how many of our 2811 war dead bought the farm because of these stolen explosives? I think good sense would dictate a 24 hour guard on 380 tons of ANYTHING!

Oh yeah....and where is that 9 billion in Iraq funds that disappeared on Medal of Freedom winner Bremer's watch? If we could find that money hidden under Cheney's mattress, it would lower our individual cost for this war...oh, just a little bit. As it stood as of September of this year, the Bush War for Oil in Iraq has cost each and every man, woman and child in the US $1,275 each.

Your $1,275 has brought death and destruction to the people of Iraq and killed a whole bunch of our kids too. So congratulations America, Bush-Cheney and the Republican Party is alive and well and living in your pocketbook. November 7th......use it wisely!

Under the new Iraqi constitution is there a right of the people to keep and bear arms ala the US 2nd amendment? Perhaps this is where all of the weapons have gone, to arm the Iraqi insurgents who are using them against US troops and civilians working for Halliburton, KBR, etc.

Anyone care to bet? I'm giving 10:1 that the "military" that lost control of the 370,000 IRRF weapons and never recorded a serial neumber was one of Bush's loyalist no-bid contract specialists, appointed because of their outstanding performance in Bush political campaigns.
