LR city manager nixes dome idea

Little Rock City Manager Bruce Moore tells the Arkansas Times that he will advise against moving forward with a proposal to add a dome to City Hall.

"The City Hall Dome was just one of the projects that we were thinking about as we prepare for the 100th Anniversary of City Hall," Moore said in an e-mail. "After reviewing more of the history and the potential cost, I will not be recommending that we move forward with pursuing the project. However, the initial plan involved only pursuing private sector and grant funds."

Some civic leaders suggested raising $500,000 to re-install a dome on the 1908 building. The original dome was removed in the middle of the 20th century.

Thank God, that was an awful idea.

Now let's get those river bridges fixed.

Wow, the un-elected city leader goes on the record.

Why haven't the elected board members been more definitive?

Be nice to find out what other City Century B-Day gifts City Hall has under consideration.

Thank you, Bruce.

Dome on City Hall = tits on a boar.

What a relief! We don't need a Big Damn Dome!

(That leaves more money for radar-equipped 20 MPH signs like Stacy Hurst has in her back yard /Kavanaugh Blvd. curve.)

I say we put a dome on Mike Huckabee.
