Media mileage
Gov. Mike Huckabee is still milking gallons out of the national media on his weight loss/jogging routine. The latest issue of Sports Illustrated includes a friendly Q&A with the guv over his training for the coming NYC Marathon. Sample:
SI: What do you think about when you run?
Huckabee: Some days I use it as an opportunity just to pray and mediate. Other days I'll listen to music and completely escape everything and just pound the pavement to the Rolling Stones. Other days I'll use it to think about concepts and ideas that I want to present in speeches and polices. That's one of the things I have found most invigorating about running. It forces me to put a lot of different juices through my head that otherwise I would not work into the day.

I wonder if dancing with Janet...gyrating hips and Freakin'...comes to the RevBroGuv's mind?
Eek...sorry about that...I just spit up in my mouth a little...

You should have that acid reflux thing looked into, rosso.
Seriously, though, the governor's flirtation with (*gasp*) meditation could undermine his cred with the fundie crowd. They're liable to pull their kids off the cross-country team to keep them safe from (*GASP*) thinking.

Maybe he's imagining that he's running away from Janet when he runs? He's probably thinking of new things and places to name after himself in the short time he has left. Or wishing he had Beebe head of hair. Or wondering if one could weight a PAC, how much would his Pac weigh?
Ah.....the Zen of Huckabee.

Passing along a comment from Jethro:
I yield to no man in my enthusiasm for
the Stones. I recently drove clean across
Wyoming, from Sheridan to Cheyenne,
listening to the Stones all the way.
My first Stones concert was at the
Academy of Music on 14th St in NYC
in 1965. In 1966, I took my wife to see them
in Washington, DC. In 2006, I took her
to see them again in NLR upon the
occasion of her 63rd birthday.
Our thinking was that between her,
me, Keith and Mick, somebody
wouldn't live to see them here again.
That said, anybody who listens to the
Rolling Stones while training for a
marathon either doesn't know the
lyrics, or ain't half as holy as he
pretends.
Reminds me of the right-wing mag
which listed "You Can't Always Get
What You Want," as the #1
conservative rock song. It's about
buying drugs: "but if you try some
time/You just might find/You get
what you need."
