Thanks, Mitt
We've told you that the Republican Governors Association has pumped $500,000 into the Arkansas governor's race. We've told you that had less to do with Asa Hutchinson's chances of winning than Mike Huckabee's influence within the association. Consider this more evidence of our position.
Mitt Romney, head of the RGA, was on Wolf Blitzer's show on CNN today. There are currently 28 Republican and 22 Democratic governors. Romney made no bones that the numbers will change in November.
ROMNEY: ... We don't want to lose as many as -- as would be indicated by just the sheer mathematics. But we will certainly lose the lead. ...
BLITZER: So there will be a majority of Democratic governors?
ROMNEY: Oh, sure.
BLITZER: As opposed to a majority of Republican governors?
ROMNEY: Oh, sure. I think -- I don't think there is anyone who has looked at the poll numbers that doesn't think that will happen.
You have got states like New York and Arkansas that are blue states that have Republican governors who are retiring.
Would you agree that it sounds like Mitt Romney has written off Arkansas? Maybe he doesn't know that Mike Huckabee, his poll numbers diving, has promised to do some campaign for Asa Hutchinson. Some day. Between Imus and screwing up in Oklahoma.

Comments
They wouldn't spend the money if they didn't know Asa could win.
They've pulled out of many states, but they're rallying the troops in Arkansas.

I have to give Huckabee some credit. I think he holds his nose when he is forced to side with Asa.

Hold his nose? Huck needs Asa as much as Asa needs Huck.
Plus, the Huck knows what a Beebe Governorship would look like... think Nick Wilson, Steve Bell (Beebe contributor), Mike Todd, etc....

I don't think Huck's poll numbers are really diving. You just keep going to the same crappy poll to get the information. But maybe if it is true it is Asa's fault. maybe Huckabee is not as popular now because he is supporting Asa. Maybe people are upset about that. Again, I don't believe the one poll that you quote but I might give more credit to Asa for Huck's numbers if it were accurate.

And how exactly does Huck need Asa's support? Come December, Huck's gone.

Asa has major cred nationally and strong credibility as a conservative.
Plus, Beebe needs to be followed by a Republican... legacy and all.

Typo:
Meant to say Huckabee needs to be followed by a Republican, doesn't want to be followed by Beebe.

Huck is hoping for a run with Mitt, he needs A$a's support in EVERY catagory. He has made many promises to many people and needs to support ANY and EVERY repub that he can, regardless of whether he wants to or not. Think he is realizing that he needs to stick close to the party and stop trying to be a 1 man show.
Think Mitt has seen the light though. After everything and then Oklahoma, gracious!

"Asa has major cred nationally and strong credibility as a conservative."
I'm with you on the latter point, but I think Asa has little credibility nationally. Maybe minor credibility as a lobbyist, which is not exactly a feather in his cap.

Nick Wilson, Mike Todd, and Beebe donor Steve Bell must have all been a little disappointed in Beebe's lackluster performance tonight.
They're banking on Beebe... they want things to be back like they used to be.

What debate were you
watching? Mike Beebe kicked
HUTCHINSON's ass.
Hutchinson made a serious
tactical error using his closing
remarks to attack Beebe
when Beebe got to speak
last. I think he thought Beebe
would ignore his petty attacks
and proceed with a prepared
closing. WRONG
I just wish Beebe had pointed
out that half the stuff
Hutchinson was complaining
about was the result of
fellow Republican
HUCKABEE. I'd guess Beebe
didn't want to piss off he
many Huckabee Republicans
that are supporting him.
I love how Hutchinson bitches
about taxes when all those
tax increases resulted in the
surplus. Taxes are higher but
the state economy is
growing...explain that
dumbasa.

Bebe wil be hosting an inaugural ball come January, A$A! will be loading up the Mayflower for a move to DC - permanent like!
There is just no way that a Repuke like A$A! will be able to pull a blue state like Arkansas during the coming Democrat tsunami.

I saw Huckabee on Imus (on MSNBC) and of course, he was his usual bragging self. He was still the butt of Imus' joke. They had a $1000 call in to guess how much Huckabee weighed before his slimdown. The winner guessed 295, which we all know is a lie.

So this is the thread where all the 30%ers are hiding. Don't hear much from your side of the isle lately. Does Mark Foley have your tongue?
Our slim non-governing Governor matters little to Arkansas or the world these days. His Lord's Ranch jet has left the runway and will soon disappear in the clouds of history. He may support Asa or not, no one really cares except Mr. Boulder and Janet (name on everything) Huckabyebye.
The tidal wave of Republican corruption is where you can find Asa's body floating face down. In a good year Asa's chances would be 50-50, this year he is DEAd. 2007 is Judgment Year for the Republicans.
Starting in January they will be taken, one by one behind the woodshed to pay for the sins of the last 6 miserable years. They can blame booze or frisky priests or bad childhoods or brain tumors, but nothing will stop the repayment of their evil. Pants down.....assume the position!
Ahead of us is a Democratic decade and lots of work righting the wrong Bush-Cheney hath wrought. It won't be a new direction, it will be a return of the old direction. Back to the time when America was a positive presence in the world.
Torture will be returned to the closet with witch burning. The return of power to the other 2 branches of government will make America stronger. The Democrats are not much better than the Republicans, but at this critical time in our nation's history that small edge of better that the Democrats own will be what saves our country from ruin.
We will recover from this Republican hangover if we stop drinking the Kool-aid November 7th.
