The Halter bandwagon?

Bill Halter issues a news release today announcing endorsements from 75 state legislators. Release on the jump. (Doesn't that mean 24 Democratic legislators did NOT endorse him?)

HALTER NEWS RELEASE

Today the Bill Halter for Lieutenant Governor campaign released the names of 75 State Legislators who have endorsed Bill Halter.

“I am honored and grateful to receive the support of state legislators from all across Arkansas,” said Bill Halter.  “As Lieutenant Governor, I look forward to working with the next Governor and State Legislature as we improve our educational system and attract more and better paying jobs.”

Speaker of the House Bill Stovall of Quitman said: “Bill Halter has the vision we need in a Lieutenant Governor and the strong desire to make Arkansas an even better place to live and work.  Bill Halter is a consensus builder who can work across party lines to find common sense solutions to the challenges that face our state.”

Senator Steve Bryles of Blytheville said: “Bill Halter knows how to get things done.  Unfortunately his opponent doesn’t and has accomplished very little during his time in the Legislature.  Jim Holt’s record is full of “no” votes that go against the needs of our children.  Jim Holt was the only State Senator to vote against covering more children under the ARKids First health care plan and was also the only State Senator to vote against higher pay for rural school teachers.  Bill Halter, unlike his opponent, will always put Arkansas’s children first.”

I've heard first hand that some significant players in the Democratic Party have snubbed Halter, including many of the Domers. Sure, they'll reluctantly vote for him against Crazy Jim, but Halter has a long way to go to "fit in."

There are 135 state legislators: 35 senators, 100 representatives.

"Currently, there are 72 Democrats and 28 Republicans in the 100-member House"

21 are either senators or rep-elects. That leaves 18 current Dem House Members that did not endorse him:

Bob Adams
Pam Adcock
Joyce Elliott

Missed the first one too, Bob Adams did endorse him.

Pam Adcock
David Cook
Tommy Dickinson
Sharon Dobbins
David Dunn
Joyce Elliott
David Evans
Dwight Fite
Allen Maxwell
Wayne Nichols
Charles Ormond
George Overbey
J.R. Rogers
Rick Saunders
Preston Scroggin
Arnell Willis
David Wyatt

It is like a fun puzzle, I think I am still missing one.....

I guess it matters, eventually, who endorses our AG candidates but U.S. troops just stood down, on order of Iraqi PM Maliki, from their checkpoints at Sadr City. That means means the US is never going to get that kidnapped soldier; untold numbers of US troop have been KILLED in the attempt to find him. The US military is now in an untenable position, totally. Militias can kidnap, kill US soldiers with impunity and the US miliatry WILL BACK DOWN when he orders them to. There's now officially no possibility that Baghdad will ever be "secured" by US troops. Ever.

They're giving up on a US soldier, leaving him on the battlefield to die, for political reasons.

It's time to come out of there. I will vote in the Arkansas races, of course, on election day but we have GOT to win a majority in both houses of Congress and keep more troops from dying under this dishonorable, failed Commander-in-Chief.

Dear Abby,

I am a crack dealer in New Jersey who has recently been diagnosed as
a carrier of the HIV virus. My parents live in a suburb of
Philadelphia and one of my sisters, who lives in Bensenville, is
married to a transvestite. My father and mother have recently been
arrested for growing and selling marijuana and are currently dependent
on my other two sisters who are prostitutes in Jersey City.

I have two brothers. One is currently serving a non-parole life
sentence in Attica for murder of a teenage boy in 1994. The other
brother is currently being held in the Wellington Remand Center on
charges of neglecting his three children.

I have recently become engaged to marry a former Thai prostitute who
lives in the Bronx and, indeed, is still a part-time "working girl" in
a brothel.

My problem is this: I love my fiancee and look forward to bringing
her into the family and of course I want to be totally honest with
her.

Should I tell her about my uncle who voted for Bush?

Signed,
Worried About My Reputation

Allen Maxwell is a Republican
so I wouldn't expect him to
support Halter. He worked
for Jay Dickey but ran as a
Democrat so he could win.
Of course he's not the only
Republican that doesn't have
the balls to run as one either.

i.e. Tim Woolridge

Tim Wooldridge is a conservative
Democrat. Allen is a conservative
Republican. There is a difference.

Actually, there not much difference between Tim Woolridge and the typical Arkansas Repug. Tim's top campaign guy is working for Holt.
I still think Tim will bolt the Democratic Party eventually.

Getting these endorsmentments is perfect example of the Democratic Machine at Work here. With Halter's money and connections, legislators know there may be a high price to pay if they don't endorse Halter. They may resent that though and who knows how they will vote in private or what they will encourage others to do?,

I loved the endorsement of the Arkansas Republican-Gazette: Anyone, ANYONE, but Holt.

I have no doubt the ADG would've endorsed Rockefeller for governor. Furthermore, we may have continued to have a GOP governor until term limits hit Rockefeller as well. However, this NWA evangelical Bob Jones-schooled brand of Republican doesn't fly with Hussmans and Stephens of the world, either. The Arkansas Republican party needs to learn that just because someone is popular in the home base of the 3rd Congressional District doesn't mean they have a shot at the state office.

Holt was a BAD choice, a really, really bad choice. I'm a swing voter and admittedly would've backed Rockefeller but Hutchinson and especially Holt just scare me.

Well, 25, 26 , what the hell. It's getting to be wintertime and some cold feet
can be expected.
_

Democratic senators who did not endorse Halter: Critcher, Johnson, Laverty, Glover, Miller, Taylor, Bookout, and of course, Wooldridge. Way to rally around the party's nominee, fellas.

I thought Wooldridge already
said he was supporting Halter
after the primary. Just
because someone isn't listed,
doesn't mean they are
supporting Holt.
