What Denny said . . .

There have been several national news reports, including the AP, ABC News and other outlets that erroneously reported that House Speaker Hastert "took full responsibility" for the cover-up of Mark Foley's pedophilia.

Those reports are incorrect.

What Hastert actually said in his Illinois remarks earlier today (watch the videotape) was, "We take responsibility . . . "

All this stuff about his quotation of Harry Truman's "The Buck Stops Here" remark misinterpret what he actually meant: The buck stops somewhere over there.

Three More Former Pages Accuse Foley of Online Sexual Approaches
October 05, 2006 5:20 PM

Brian Ross, Rhonda Schwartz & Maddy Sauer Report:

Three more former congressional pages have come forward to reveal what they call "sexual approaches" over the Internet from former Congressman Mark Foley.

The pages served in the classes of 1998, 2000 and 2002. They independently approached ABC News after the Foley resignation through the Brian Ross & the Investigative Team's tip line on ABCNews.com. None wanted their names used because of the sensitive nature of the communications.

"I was seventeen years old and just returned to [my home state] when Foley began to e-mail me, asking if I had ever seen my page roommates naked and how big their penises were," said the page in the 2002 class.

The former page also said Foley told him that if he happened to be in Washington, D.C., he could stay at Foley's home if he "would engage in oral sex" with Foley.

The Blotter

http://blogs.abcnews.com/theblotter/2006/10/three_more_form.html

I avoid Fox News like I avoid WalMart, but I was flipping through the channels tonight and something important caught my attention. This is totally off-topic, but since I vented to hubby until he went to bed and I have nobody else to rave at, here goes.
You know that "Christian" group that demonstrates at funerals of dead soldiers? Fred Phelps is the leader.
They were planning to demonstrate at the funerals of the four Amish children murdered on Monday. They had their signs all ready to go:
Stuff like:
"She was a whore."
"She deserved to die."
And a radio talk show host intervened and offered these people an open mic to voice their opinions if they would not show up at the funerals. THey took the deal.
Live, on Fox, Two daughters of Phelps (laughing and smiling -) stated that is was "kinder to kill them when they are young"....yada, yada,
And these women are both lawyers.
They hate everyone.
I had a thought as I was watching this.
Maybe the feds can pick them up and disappear them, because these people are the true terrorists who endanger us.
Thoughts, bloggers?

It's a waste of time to listen to a Republican talk anyway. They never tell the truth and you're just wearing out those tiny bones in your ears taking in all their hogwash.

Let's review the last few days. ABC, evidently trying to make up for airing that bogus Path to 9-11 crap digs up all this dirt on Foley and lays it at his feet. He turns bright red and resigns! Poof! Gone! Heading for rehab at the advice of his lawyer. Poof! Gone!

Then one by one the Republicans start firing into each other at point blank range. I didn't know nothing....nope...not me..but So and So did, I tolds him and I tolds him. Scares the crap our of NY Republican Reynolds so he runs out and digs up a room full of little kids to protect himself from adult questions from reporters about this sexual predator he has been hiding for some time.

Here we have a old man hiding behind children because he doesn't want to answer questions about a man who was trying to have sex with children. Find the honor in this setup. Go on....I dare you!

Then Foley's lawyer starts throwing out little stories about Foley being gay and carrying that shame for 40 years. Then his boy-mongering is blamed on booze. I'm a drunk.....it's not my fault...I don't even remember...I'm a drunk Republican. Then the icing on the cake is when Foley says some preacher bent him over and filled him with his "spirit" when he was 15, an age he could have spent his time being a Page.

Speaker Dennis Bastert tells 3 or 4 versions of how he don't know nuttin bout boinkin no babies! But several other Republicans are pumping blame bullets into Bastert as hard as they can go. And the Republican politicians who are religious nuts or represent a big district of religious nuts join the Democrats in calling for Bastert's hide.

The prize of today was when Matt Drudge gets up way early in the morning and makes up this story about an 18 year old guy who happens to be from Oklahoma and is currently working for nutty Istook, who is a known homophobe. The OK kid says...oh no.....it was a joke....I hate fags....I was just funning Foley.

Luckily this lie didn't work and if you look closely this is exactly the same ploy that worked on Dan Rather. It's Rathergate all over again. But....it only caused 3 more former Pages to come forward and say they too felt the nasty old hand of Foley reaching for their naughties.

Tony Snow says we should drop this silly stuff and concentrate on other things that are important. I actually tend to agree with him, we should all be paying attention to the increase in suicide bombings in Iraq and how much quicker they've been slaughtering our troops. Wake up and see all the liars getting caught over on the Republican side.

I'm way disgusted, but not just about this Foley mess and the Foleygate cover up that is fixing to slip up over Bastert's head and no telling who else. What's important is November 7th. If you're mad at Republicans for any of 2000 really good reasons and you want to hurt them, vote Democrat across the board on November 7th.

And then after there is a Democratic sweep, starting in January, 2007, join with me in seeing that the Democrats keep their promises. Start reversing Bush-Cheney treason that has piled up all the power in the universe on the President's plate.

I expect Mike Beebe to only accept presents, gifts and trips from people he's having sex with or is a blood relative to. And as soon as possible every person on earth should start screaming for the Supreme Court to reverse the totally unconstitutional torture bill that Mark Pryor helped pass 2 weeks ago.

Then...it's on to investigating and removing from office every member of the Bush administration. Every crooked Congressman or woman who was in bed with Jack Abramoff. Then forget election reform, we need Lobby Reform! 65 lobbyists for every man or woman in Congress. Who could win anything with 65 to 1 odds?

When the Democrats take over I fully expect them to restore the 3 branches of government that Ora Smith drummed into my head in the 9th grade. 3 separate and equal branches of government made America great and it will again if we restore them and let them go back to work.

We're in the middle of a nightmare. But this is a nightmare we can wake ourselves out of. But we have to think hard, work hard and not fall for people like Drudge and these TV preachers that pretend to speak to God. No self-respecting God would lower himself or herself to mess with these lying preachers. The Democrats need to restore the Fairness Doctrine that Reagan threw away and require that there be truth in radio, TV, magazines and newspapers again. It worked for 60 year, it will work again.

And we have to remember one person we have heard very little from so far. Mark Foley.........what will happen to the Republican leadership when he starts to sing???? Or will he fall in the bathtub like Superman? Stranger things have happened.

You guys that are lambasting Foley and wanting Hastert to resign becasue he didn't oversee a Congressman for writing email notes to a page -and yet don't want to discuss the connection Halter had with porn when he was on the Akamai board, are flat out hypocrites. Halter was on the board for more than a year while the porn sites were being piped into universities and touted as " web's youngest teen girl" in sex acts, and only PHASED out the porn after they were outed by the Boston Globe. Yet Halter can simply say he didn't know about it and he gets total protection while you not only want Foley's hide but the hide of the US Speaker Dennis Hastert who you claim should have known what was going on and done something about it. Of course, Halter is not accountable for any such reponsibility for all that porn that reached thousands and thousands although a Board member is legally accountable for Liberals and the media in Arkansas don't want to talk about Halter's connection to pron much less investigate it.t investigated.

Dang it, DBI, I was going to comment on topic, but you beat me to it.
Let's get out the vote!

Congress is a pit of snakes all looking to bite each other in the ass. Will Bush stoop as low as Clinton and pardon Foley if he is convicted? Clinton had no problem with providing clemency to Mel Reynolds, House member who did not resign until after he was convicted. His wrong doings included sleeping with a 16 old. He received clemency while still doing time in federal prison. While in Congress some of the charges he was convicted of included: criminal sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography.

This is so funny watching the current crop of repigs talk out of both sides of their mouth. LOL! The American people see the these repig fools for what they are.

Despite the GOP cadres being outed as a hypocritic nest of evil-doers, they'll still keep their slimy hold on power, thanks to rigged voting devices and a startling number of confused Americans.

But we can hope!

Ruth Lopez: Time to Connect the Dots

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EXCERPT: And let's be VERY clear about the gay-bashing aspect of this: when a straight person is accused of sexually preying upon and abusing a child, nobody says the problem is their heterosexuality. Likewise, the issue here isn't homosexuality. This is about the sexual abuse of minors and the connection between hiding sexual orientation and hiding abusive sexual practices against children.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is time -- way past time -- to put the Jeff Gannon story right up there next to the Mark Foley story and to ask some very hard questions. The Bush White House is shocked -- shocked!! -- to hear of this slimy Congressman -- but they are already letting their minions use it as an excuse to turn the focus from pedophilia to gay-bashing -- all the nasty right-wing talking heads are already out dispensing fake statistics that blame tolerance of gays for Foley's preying on children. Never mind the apparently straight men, like Denny Hastert, who may be accessories after the fact for covering up for Foley; blame gays.

Let them hang themselves with gay bashing instead of focusing on their failure to protect minors from sexual predators.

It's time to talk openly about the closeted gay connection between the White House, the very top of the GOP, and Congress.

Time to play six degrees of separation with promiscuous gay sex in the Bush White House, the Bush Administration, the Bush Congress and Bush's GOP.

Time to connect the dots:

Who gave a male homosexual prostitute named Jeff Gannon repeated access to the White House? Who was he visiting? Why did he have repeated over-night stays in the White House?

Where was Mr. Gannon when he wasn't at the White House? Did he also visit Congress? Did he socialize with Congressmen? Which ones? Foley, perhaps? Did they take Congressional pages out to party together? Share emails? No one has asked if Foley had others, besides pages, present for any of the soirees he was trying to set up.

Time to ask, don't you think?

What connection does Jeff Gannon have to Ken Mehlman and other closeted gays in the Bush Administration? And, if, as the right-wing chattering monkeys are saying, tolerating gays in high offices is to blame for this latest Republican lapse of morals and common decency -- then who exactly is gay in Bush's White House, the top levels of the GOP, and Congress? Who has been lying -- whether by denying or refusing to admit their sexual orientation? And why have the lied? Was it to hide something?

Last night I heard Joe Scarborough and others in the GOP and the press talking about what a well known secret it was that Foley was gay. OK then, who else do they know about who has been covering up their orientation? Scarborough, et al, insisted that Foley was a good friend and a "great guy" and they were all sooooo surprised about this. If that is true, then who else do they know is covering up their homosexuality that might, unbeknownst to them, be using Congress as their personal gay sex playground? Who else would they be shocked, shocked!! to hear was up to the same things?

Is the GOP eagerness to throw Hastert under the bus just as much to stop any further revelations as it is to bury the Foley story before the election?

Foley may well be just the tip -- no pun intended -- of this scandal, and Jeff Gannon may very well be a part of it, too. Someone in the GOP, or the Bush Administration, got Gannon press access to get into the White House, over and over again. Who? Was it another closeted gay? There has never been any real investigation into Gannon's access. It's overdue. And is there ANY connection between Foley, Gannon and anyone in the Bush White House?

Because, what if this wasn't just Foley? What if there are others, enough to make it more worthwhile to cover this up rather than clean it out when it first came up? Not just Congressmen, what about staffers, GOP party hacks, lobbyists? If it was just Foley, Hastert and the GOP could have taken him aside and told him to step down in time to get someone else into his solidly Republican seat. They had enough time when this first came up, why didn't they? Are there enough others that it was better to cover it up than risk blowing the lid off of something massive and irreparable?

Who else in the Bush Administration is hiding their orientation? And, why? What, if anything, is the Gannon connection? I think we should spend the next month pounding this issue, over and over and over. Make the Bush White House and the GrOPpers spend the next month denying and explaining the connection, or lack thereof, between Foley in Congress and Gannon in the White House.

And let's be VERY clear about the gay-bashing aspect of this: when a straight person is accused of sexually preying upon and abusing a child, nobody says the problem is their heterosexuality. Likewise, the issue here isn't homosexuality. This is about the sexual abuse of minors and the connection between hiding sexual orientation and hiding abusive sexual practices against children.

I Agree with Ruth ,ask the hard question MSM PLEASE ,,,,,

Hastert is pathetic. He lays blame for the Foley revelations on the Dems (god I can only pray the Dems are actually that good) and George Soros...then when reporters asked him to back up his claims with some sources/proof he says 'I just know what the media have been reporting...I don't have any other sources of information.' First, Hastert should be thanking those responsible for removing a predator from Congress rather than whining about 'the source.' Isn't the welfare of the pages what's important? Second, it's nice to know that with all the money/resources available to the man fourth (?) in line to succeed Bush he gets his important info from FOX.

"...the man fourth (?) in line to succeed Bush...."

He's next in line after Darth Cheney.

"WASHINGTON (CNN) -- President Bush called House Speaker Dennis Hastert, under fire for his handling of the Mark Foley scandal, and "expressed his support," White House Deputy Press Secretary Dana Perino said. In the Thursday evening conversation, which lasted only a few minutes, the president thanked the speaker for "making a clear public statement today in which he and the House leadership took responsibility and said that they are accountable to the American people," Perino said."

The other shoe has not fallen yet. Just wait until more pages and former pages come forward. Hastert is not going to be able to lie his way out of this one. There are many more emails and instant messages yet to come.

The party of "family values" has much to lose.

One of the really odd parts about this is the forgotten part - pages talk to each other. They know what is going on. R pages and D pages talk just like R congressmen and D congressmen talk. They leak info to their friends on the other side of the aisle just like their congressmen do.

Hopefully, as this "investigation" progresses, we will also find out which D's knew about this crap and how long have they been sitting on it. Perish the thought that a page got abused while both sides kept mum and tried to play this to their political benefit.

Not that my early opinion matters much but it looks like the R's committed a felony and the D's committed a misdemeanor.

Punish appropriately.

"Hopefully, as this "investigation" progresses, we will also find out which D's knew about this crap and how long have they been sitting on it. "
-DonKey

Oh, don't we all just hope for that! Are we hoping that this perversion didn't affect more people? Nah, what good would that do? Just as an aspiring Ms. America hopes for world peace, all the R's can do is hope other people are also involved.

You know you've stepped in a big steaming pile when all your hopes are on the possibility of sharing the blame for covering up a self-righteous hypocritical pervert's actions.

I figured out by age 30 that humans are very messy animals. You name it and a human is guilty of it. The invention of the Internet shows there are legions of people who pop a woody over feet. Feet! And remember the news articles about people called furries or was it fuzzies, who like to dress up like giant plush toy animals and then have sex.

I personally don't care what 2 consenting adults do in private...have at it. I didn't care what Clinton did in his private life either. As long as everyone is an adult and willing...have at it. The Monica matter was between her, Bill and Hillary. I respect no law that says I have to tell details of my personal sexual life with another adult.......period.

So, I can't wholeheartedly support a sexual witch hunt in the White House, even though I loath every person in the building. But I have thought from the beginning that an investigation into Jeff Gannon/Guckert was in order. If a female whore was found to be slipping in and out of the White House at will, none of us would have to guess why she was there. It should be the same for a male whore, which Gannon has admitted to being and most of us have seen his website saying his mouth and other parts are open for bizness, if the price is right.

He was clearly servicing someone within the White House and I want to know who. Then there is the part where using a fake name he is admitted to the White House Press Corp and then often used to pitch softball questions when things got too hot for a member of the Bush Team. If it's that easy the next Lee Harvey Oswald won't have to buy a long range rifle with a scope. He'll just get a press pass and choke the President when no one is looking.

I guess I am interested in a politicians sexual leanings if that politician spends a lot of his time on a soapbox running down a group of people who supposedly have different sexual desires than his or her own. Look how many people who pointed their finger of shame at Clinton, turned out to have as much or more to hide in their own sex lives. I'll take a crook over a hypocrite any ole day.

"The rich are different" is more than just a cool way to start a book off, it's the truth. People who are lucky enough to become accustom to having what they want at all times often get bored and jaded and need new and more exciting things. I believe there is a higher rate of bi-sexuality among the most privileged. A lifetime of reading biographies seems to bear this out, along with certain knowledge of the proclivities of the upper crust here in Fort Moral, AR.

I've never been there to experience it, but could be there is some kind of aura surrounding the White House and the Capitol that makes one frisky all the time. It is the site of the most concentrated power on earth and they say power is a great aphrodisiac. So all who enter these buildings may feel a certain jiggy-ness that Huck isn't feeling in Iowa.

Maybe our elected officials in DC just can't help it. Constant hardening of the nipples might be what's goofing up Blanche Lincoln's voting. And maybe the same thing caused Pryor to vote for torture 2 weeks ago? Who knows, we aren't there. But as one of the 300 million owners of the White House, I think I have a right to know if whores young or old, male or female are coming and going from the White House while the occupants make a big show of being next to Jesus and the Pope in their purity of thought and deed. Book em, Dano!

I think the best outcome of this whole mess is that no member of Congress will ever again dare to use the phrase "on the same page".
