Are we safer yet?

A whopping NY Times story: Republicans' efforts to defend the invasion of Iraq by posting all kinds of Iraqi documents on the web have had the effect of putting nuclear-weapon-making information in the hands of anyone with a computer. Heckuva job, Repubs. The website has, in the last 24 hours, been shut down on account of the Times' inquiries.

Noted: It is NOT news that Saddam had such plans, which pre-date the 1991 war. The news is that the Repubs shared them with the world. We know that the earlier war and UN inspections had held his continued work in check. If Saddam's unfulfilled designs can justify a war, tell me apologists, why aren't we invading a country that's actually making the dang things (North Korea)?

I knew you'd bite on this one, you just couldnt help yourself.

Its funny to me that these plans are to dangerous to be on the web but in Saddams hands they posed, what was it you libs were saying, "no threat"

C'mon man pick a lane.

Either the man was dangerous and had plans for WMDs or he didnt . You cant have it both ways on this one.

Nice round of hypocrisy, you get the pooints this round.

The most useful thing about the New York Times article is that it will serve as a reminder to voters that Saddam was keenly interested in acquiring nuclear weapons. I believe that the first Iraq war did not dissuade Saddam from his nuclear ambitions, and some of the documents back that up. If we had not thwarted Saddam's plans, it was only a matter of time until A.Q. Khan showed up to proliferate his nuclear madness.

Man....talk about turning a blind eye.

Straw man arguments....

The instructions to build an atom bomb placed on the web by the Repugs is the story, not who had the instructions 15 yrs ago.

Saddam had them....but he didn't put them out there for the new generatin of terrorists that is being inspired today by our overzealous invasion.

gee.

Spin all you want, Bush-shiites, but that was a gross error on your leader's part.

As to why we don't invade North Korea, it's because they have a nuclear weapon. That's why EVERYBODY wants one.

Just another example of thier TOTAL incompetence. In thier efforts to cover their dumb asses politically over WMD they expose vital schematics and formulars on how to build an atomic weapon. And Incompetent in Chief still goes around the country saying how he is keeping terrorism at bay - all the while his out of control government is giving away atomic secrets. I'm in favor of another Rosenberg trail for the whole bunch of nincompoops.

Republicans have to go! Half my day is taken up with being blown away by how stupid and incompetent they are. The other half of the day is eaten up thinking about how crooked, deadly and corrupt they are.....I need a break!

Before there was an Internet, before The Google, there were underground books and magazines giving instructions on how to build your own atomic bomb. Luckily for us it's far too difficult for even whole countries to do. There is nothing really new in today's report other than how freaking stupid the Bush administration is.

Every tin horn dictator dreams of owning the bomb. Sadam was just 245th on the list. You try living in a bad neighborhood without a gun and you'll understand better. It's just amazing that anyone would still support the most hated President and administration in US history, especially when they scream they're protecting us...making us safer and yet they're dumb enough to give free info on how to build your own bomb.

If you hate Bush-Cheney you're normal. If you see anything good, smart or honorable in them you need an MRI as quickly as possible. If they weren't killing so many people I'd just sit back and laugh at them. But come on.....they really need to go to prison. We'll work on that in 2007. Join the national intervention this Tuesday.

I have no idea how this nincompoop posted above 3 times. Apologies all around.

Probably the same way that fifteen year old documents that described how to manufacture an A-bomb, including sections and graphic configurations of implosion cores in Arabic were posted on the internet without being screened for secret or confidential date.

Oh, excuse me. That's reserved to Cheney's visitor's logs these days. They are more important than preventing nuclear proliferation.
