Does the country get it?
CNN has Bush popularity ratings at 35 percent and a huge gap between likely Democrat and Republican voters.
So the question: Is Bush's visit to Arkansas today a sign of his stupidity or Arkansas voter stupidity? We'll know tomorrow for certain. He'll be on the ground at XNA (more precisely, the Tyson hangar) about an hour today, starting at 4:20 p.m.
UPDATE: Last night, Republicans were saying tickets were still available from the event. And today we get word from a Blog reader that school kids will be loaded on buses in Bentonville to swell the numbers. Maybe A$a can bring in some sacks from Harp's, where he's been bagging groceries, for clothing appropriate for someone forced to appear in a public place with the Bully in Chief.

Comments
I'll take NW Arkansas stupidity for $1,000, Max. Bush only goe where he's guaranteed an enthusiastic crotch-gobbling crowd, and NWA is ground zero for that kind of thing. The land that gave us Jim Holt and Jim Bob Duggar. If you look at a map of voting patterns, NWA, SW Missouri, all of Oklahoma, and SE Kansas form an economically powerful rightwing homeland. If you want to build a fence to protect American democracy, start by ringing that region with razorwire and landmines.

Bush's visit to NWA will fire up those Republicans who attend. But they are certainly the faithful who have already early-voted, and they don't have many hours left to go use their enthusiasm.
So I see the Bush visit as essentially useless.
Clinton's visit to Jonesboro at least gave the crowd a few days to act on their enthusiasm.

Bush has to look busy, ya know, and there are only about 12 places in the US where he's welcome these days. So here he comes! I doubt even the Kool-aid drinkers here in Fort Republican want him around.
So suck him up Bentonville, roll in his stink, Rogers..get you a bunch of Bush lovin, Benton Country. The rest of the nation says "Include me out!"
And on Wednesday morning should Rove and Diebold have their way with our vote once again and the Republicans magically win, I hope the American Revolution Part II begins before noon. No country, is better than a fascist country removed from the control of the citizens and guided by a neo-con pack bent on world domination.
I would rather see my children die now, than leave the world at a later date knowing the misery I am leaving them to face alone. Too bad the children being bussed in today do not have parents who feel the same way. Should the worst come to pass on Tuesday, our rallying cry should once again be, Give Us Liberty or Give Us Death.
By now all that can be done, has been done. I can't imagine one single mind being changed today. If you don't understand the threat to America from this rogue administration by now, there is no hope for you to come to you senses tomorrow as you vote.
If the will of the people is allowed to make it's presence known tomorrow, the Republicans will be slaughtered at the polls. If Rove and Diebold manages to steal their 3rd election, let the Second War for our Independence start bright and early on November 8th.
Good luck with our future and I extend that to the misguided adults and children assembling in the Tyson hanger as I type.

Few people will miss the 109th Congress. Rolling Stone called it the "worst Congress ever." Just 16 percent of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing, the legislative body's lowest approval rating in 14 years. "The 109th Congress is so bad that it makes you wonder if democracy is a failed experiment," notes constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley. Congress's conservative leadership has systematically committed each of the seven deadly sins (gluttony, lust, avarice, anger, sloth, envy, and hubris) through its legislative inaction, culture of corruption, and pay-to-play system. But most importantly, this Congress has put the protection of its own power over the best interests of the American public. If "this band of brigands in the 109th represented a major corporation, that company would be bankrupt, the shareholders would be left to clean up the mess a la Enron and WorldCom, and the executives would be facing prison. But instead of an endless parade of deserved perp walks, many of these opportunists and enablers will be re-elected," writes Michael McCord of the Portsmouth Herald. Be sure to vote on Tuesday and help wipe away Congress's sins

"Does the country get it?"
Man, I hope so. I was just having a conversation with a fellow friendly voter this morning and we noted that we thought that maybe, on the eve of the "04 election, the country got it...but we didn't.
It is crunch time, folks. Call anyone you can. Knock on your neighbors doors if they don't have signs in their yards. Remind them that this is OUR country...not a dictatorship...
Especially you good folks in NWA...put that Anderson kid in office. Get Boozman out of there...enough with the rubber stamping...
I realize we don't really have any serious national horses in this election, but don't worry...we'll find a replacement for Pryor in '08...

Noooo, Assa would never use children to make himself look good. Right?
It would be a COLD DAY IN HELL before I would allow my child to go to that BS. Nice to see the taxpayers money being put ot good use.

Stupidity...combined with the kind of arrogance that comes from riding family coattails rather than working/earning his way through life.
I want so badly to believe that 'America' sees Bush/Cheney/Rove for the self-serving slimy slugs they are...but I'm not counting on it. Hell, I still can't believe they've wreaked so much havoc in such a short period of time.

Lord, so now we are citing The Rolling Stone as a legit news source? This along with Max's dream of the Arkansas Times as a ligit "news" source? Both are nothing but GOP bashers. I try to keep up with both sides of the issues in order to make informed decisions but good grief. Max, I hate to make assumptions here but I think you are a democrat. And when one reads any "news" and sees the party bias loud and clear, then you loose any ligit rights to be a "news" source and just be another self-centered internet blog and place to sell ads.

I'm checking my calendar and I believe the last time I had sex was October 12th. So yes, the lady with the bag over her head does get my attention, make me have 1994 thoughts and divert my attention from tomorrows election.
When I look at her I become slightly befuddled like Inside, who has just figured out at this very late date that Max may not share their love for the Republican Party. When I look at the bag lady I become totally self-centered and think of my own gut churning personal needs....NEEDS.
But I am glad there are men like Max and Warwick and Mr. Butts who do not let shapely slender bodies gracing the real estate under a paper bag remove their attention from rightly bashing the crooks and failures that make up today's Republican Party. I am weak, but the AT is strong and it will be a joy to help them help Governor Beebe remember his campaign promises when he takes office next year.
I do hope someone will invited the bag wearing young lady to the Inaugural Ball. Should she get a wee bit tipsy I may try to rub myself against her while pretending to be talking about the honor of holding high public office. At my age you have to start planning your fun early.
Carry on towards Victory tomorrow!
