Early line

I forgot to open up a line last night. Here's one.

NOTE TO DBI: You have until 6:45 p.m. to get over to the Hutchinson-Romney-Barbour "rally" in FS. Our question: What the f*** you think a Massachusetts Mormon and a Mississippi lobbyist can do for A$a now?

Comments

I am convinced now that this thing is going to be close and that we may even lose the Governor's race. On Wednesday morning we may wake up to a right-wing neocon Governor Asa Hutchinson.

Beebe has been running for Governor for the last 20 years and still hasn't gotten his act together. We have no organization on the ground. The Republicans know it and more importantly the DPA knows it.

The problem is that you can't just transfer $250k 5 days before an election and expect to mount an effective get out the vote effort. The Republicans have been working on this for 6 years and have used their model very effectively in the last two elections. Doesn't the DPA know that you can't replicate 6 years of work in 5 days?

Turnout was poor for Clinton in Jonesboro yesterday. Can you even call it a rally when less than 1000 people show up to see the most popular politician in the world? And why was he brought to Jonesboro and not Phillips or Jefferson County where we really need him? Memo to Jason--it is too early to start taking victory laps.

The question is not "Does Beebe believe in Arkansas", we should be asking "Does Arkansas believe in Beebe?" He has no true grassroots support, verified by the lack of true campaign volunteers. Every aspect of his campaign was executed by paid employees, most of whom aren't even from Arkansas. Try to find a Beebe volunteer for me. (and it doesn't count if you tell me that YOU are a volunteer. Sitting at home reading blogs doesn't count as volunteering.)

I hope that we don't wake up on Wednesday mornng asking if we ever really liked Mike Beebe and if we ever really had a choice.

This is venting, my heart is racing and my breathing is labored. Please convince me that I am wrong.

DBI,

You are wrong...we are going to be able to say "Hello, Governor Beebe" as early as 12:01 AM on Nov. 8.

Listen, you know Asa is an asshole just as do the rest of us. It is laughable to hear him whine (that's what he does, you know) about a "transfer" of money from Beebe to the ADP. Whether or not that happened is not the thing we should be debating. What is debatable is whether or not such an action of that is any more wrong than what the Republicans have done with their 527 group this election season here in Arkansas and whether or not it is OK for the Republican Governor's Association to dump money into the campaign at the last minute.

Yes, I think you are wrong to question the logical action of the people of Arkansas in electing Mike Beebe as our next Governor. I think that is happening this very moment. I have no doubt but that it will one of the great defining moments in Arkansas' political history.

I want you to write the official obituary for the Republican Party in Arkansas. Please include Mike Huckabee, Asa Hutchinson, Jim Holt, Gunner DeLay, and all the rest of that slimy entourage. You write so eloquently that we, by acclamation, grant you the privilege of being the author of record of their pending demise.

Please keep the faith, baby. All is going to be well. The sun will rise on Nov. 8 to a bright and glorious day in Arkansas. I wil be so glad to be alive and be a part of it as I know you will, too.

Not to worry. I've noticed that all of the Asa! roadside and yard signs have faded. Beebe's are still bright.
I'm sure Cato can find a better way to express this via a furrin philosopher. Besides, he didn't meet me at the Huddle Club for a pre-game beer.

The DPA has been working on GOTV for months. I assure you that the GOP will be stunned at how one-sided this election turns out. Not only will the Dems sweep the constitutional offices, they will maintain a super majority in both houses of the legislature. It will be a decisive victory setting the state GOP back a decade.

DIRTY TRICKS on AT BLOG!

We have a name-stealing troll! The DBI post above has to be an imposter. His name link does not go to DBI's usual picture and of course these are not D's words or thoughts.

Well well....someone was creative while I was snoring upstairs. As the real Jo Carson.....I mean DBI, these words above are not mine. Those thoughts are not mine. I do not link to dailykos though I read it once or twice a month.

And if you click on the type key link it goes to nothing, instead of to my typekey page with little 3 year old DBI in drag. At least this impostor writes reasonably well and uses spell check.
I'll cover the world in words should I change horses in the middle of this stream. Snot Me!

Message from Woody!

After ignoring a bunch of calls I answered an unfamiliar number this morning to a Woody Anderson recorded message. It starts out "I am sick and tired of John Boozman and the rest of the Republicans.." Catchy! I listened!

He indentified himself then as Capt. Woodrow Anderson, rotted on the "stay the course" policy and more. It was a pretty good call aimed, I guess, at undecideds and independents. The opening line is a bit startling but it keeps you listening.

Go Woody!

I was at the Jonesboro rally and the hanger was full and overflowing. Some people had to stand outside. Cars filled the airport parking lot and lined both sides of the roads as far as the could see. Not bad for an 11 a.m. Friday event that was only announced a couple of days before.

I've posted some photos if anybody's interested. Click my name to go to 'em.

Note that "Inches" starts with a lower case "i" for the real DBI, while the fake one uses an upper case.

When he said that only 1000 people showed up to see Clinton, he revealed that he just isn't smart enough to effectively troll.

I stand corrected on the crowd size, courtesy of Blomeley and Kellams:

"Clinton spoke for about 30 minutes in a hangar at the Jonesboro Municipal Airport to about 700 Democrats."

Laughing my Ass! Off.

My wife had what she described as a surreal experience earlier this week and she said I could share it with my friends here.

A little background information: My wife picked up a couple of the red oval bumper stickers from the Asa! campaign and took the scissors to them. The result was an authentic looking sticker with the message: Ass! Governor

She's been driving around town in her car with the Ass! sticker on one side, and a Gore 2008 sticker on the other - an unlikely pairing, to be sure.

It's last Sunday afternoon and mrs. mann is standing out in front of the house beside her car chatting it up with another progressive neighbor when a white van passes by, then stops a couple houses away. The van, which sports a Jim Hol+ sticker on its rear bumper, backs up to them and stops. My wife asks the neighbor if he would be getting a visit from someone traveling in such conservative circles, and he says he most certainly would not be.

Zzzzrrt. Down goes the passenger window and behind the wheel sits none other than the broadly smiling Jim Holt. "I like your bumper sticker," says he.

mrs. mann smiles back and says, "Well, coming from a big Republican like you that's quite the compliment."

Holt proceeds with what must be the standard disclaimer, "Now, you should know I didn't agree with the Patriot Act or No Child Left Behind . " blah blah blah (desperately trolling for any vote).

She mentioned to Holt that her husband (that would be me) worried that people would see the custom sticker and completely miss the nuance, but that the Gore sticker might serve to cancel it out. Holt admitted that that is exactly how he saw it and had commented to his own wife that it was odd to see such a pairing of stickers. Mrs. Holt (obscured in the back of the van by a legion of small children) is the one who pointed out that he'd better back up for a closer look.

Holt's last words were the friendly reminder to be sure to get out and vote . next Wednesday.

The guy's got a sense of humor, you gotta give him that.

"The guy's got a sense of
humor, you gotta give him
that.
Posted by: hugh mann"

Well, you know the Geico commercials. Even cavemen like Holt can have a sense of humor, except regarding cavemen jokes.

Driving to Jonesboro yesterday, I notices some large new signs. Maybe they've been around for a while and I just never noticed, but I had to think a little to figure out what they meant. They say something like..

Arkansas State Law
_________________
Move over for stopped
law enforcement vehicles.

At first I thought it meant if you see a stopped police car, you have to pull over and stop, which sounded crazy. Then I realized I was only seeing them on 4-lane roads and figured out they're telling you to pull into the left hand lane to go by police cars parked on the side of the road, like when writing a ticket. Makes sense. It's not safe for them to get out of the car with traffic whizzing by inches away in the right hand lane.

Too bad the problem couldn't have been solved some way without having to tack on yet another new law, though.

The fake-dbi stuff stinks...and people must have to check their integrity at the door to work for most politicians. Like one of A$a's idiots could muster up enough dbi originality to pass muster--ha!

From what I've witnessed on this blog, I never want anything to do with most people who work on political campaigns...especially the Republicans. Y'all are pitiful. And will do ANYTHING to get your way.

If I wake up Wednesday morning and the dems have not taken at least the House, I'm gonna have to hit the protest/kick-butt trail 'cause our country will have been stolen outright by Bush's Republican thugs.

Wow, hugh! You'd better watch out...that Hol+ is an old smoothy! Even if his wife and family are in the car! I mean, if ol' Teddy "Meth-Mouth" Haggard can do it...why not Hol+?

Yeah, the DBI imposter is a real drag...and to think a quick link to Kos legitimizes it (in full disclosure, I am a Kos troll)...whoever it is seems to be testing the waters on the left side of the fence. Clearly, the admiration is so great that the poor $taffer is confused now...

I understand zelda's frustration with the slime factor with respect to politicians and their staffs...it takes a particular type of person to not only want to do it, but also be willing to make moral sacrifices in doing so...I know some staffers (good guys and bad guys) and there are plenty with their hearts and minds in the right places, but more that are morally and socially retarded...

mrs. rosso can't wait until Tuesday has passed. Bless her heart, she has put up with more phone calls, campaigners, literature, my incessant blogging and my addiction to the 24 hour news cycle...she is ready to have her rosso back...and working in the damn yard...and back in the damn kitchen...

Spirit, I saw the same signs yesterday on I-30 going to Texarkana. They must be fairly new because I've never noticed them on that trip before. Odd, makes sense, but still kinda odd.

Haggard guilty, dismissed.

''We, the Overseer Board of New Life Church, have concluded our deliberations concerning the moral failings of Pastor Ted Haggard,'' a statement from the church said. ''Our investigation and Pastor Haggard's public statements have proven without a doubt that he has committed sexually immoral conduct.''

Today, a major and blessed event happened. The Right Reverend Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori was invested for the next decade as the new Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church USA.

Having worked around Presiding Bishop Schori at two General Conventions, I can say she is highly intelligent, humble, very gentle, and most of all, has a fairness about her spirit that is refreshing.

She becomes the first woman to be so invested as head of a mainline church.

You can see her investiture online. It was filled with the cross between the traditional High Mass pomp of Anglican tradition and the spiritual influences, like the Native American culture she has served previously as Bishop.

Wow, Lwood, thanks! I have been trying to find the time and brain power to make some kind of all in one Bush-Cheney-Republican sin/shit list and Larry Gelbart beats me to it and in a much more complete and masterly way. YAY!

Now Max...while it might be good to be a mole in the Asa Spankathon going on mere blocks from my house, I would much rather have Rev. Ted Haggard poke a red hot poker up my ass!

I can't imagine having to share the same air with Asa, Mitt and Marble-mouth Barber. Mitt's a Mormon flake just like his old daddy the Rambler salesman. Barber is even worse. Before he graced the south again with his presence, he carried all kinds of dirty water for the Bush administration. He's a back room money launderer and a master of dirty tricks while pretending to be just a good old boy.

If nothing else Asa has shown the type of people he admires and respects and that's ALL you need to know that Asa is the last damn thing Arkansas needs. Hie thee back to DC you penny stock huckstering lobbyist and take your misfit crooked friends with you.

So far the only ONLY thing Asa has going for him are cute grandchildren and one look at his pretty wife tells you the good stuff didn't come from him. Too bad cute grandchildren aren't enough to make a good Governor. Your time here is over Asa. So git trash!

I know that we all seem in the political spirit. However, for me watching the Investiture of the 26th Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, Katharine Jefferts Schori has been the highlight of my day. You should watch the ceremony.

For me it has a personal side in knowing many of the main characters. Also, because this is my faith.

But as we exit the scandal of Ted Haggard and one faith community that teaches division, hatred, and hypocritical condeming, it's refreshing to see an older community where it's head proclaims that ALL are welcome at the Table of God.

In the spirit of Jesse Jackson, "Black, yellow, red, brown, and white....all are precious in his sight!"

May God bless all of you today.

DBI,
Ya I caught the warm and fuzzy grandchildren spot in NWA last night.
Guess Asa doesn't mind using "other" kids like $2 whores...to hit Beebe, just not his. That's good ole Republican Family Values for ya. Hope Ma is getting better.

So looking for some other opinions on this;

Bush flies into NWA. Now we all know that Rove can read polls and since June the Beebe/Hutchinson race has had Beebe between 10 and 15 any given day since June. Hutchinson is toast.

Why is Bush is in NWA?

1. Because the numbers are so bad that in order to get Hutchinson above 40% and avoid a total R humiliation, a trip by the Chimpster in Chief could , they hope, rally the Shiite factor in NWA to avoid that? Becasue the R's NEEEEEED Arkansas in '08?

2. Boozman, who's has backed the Bush "stay the course" I voted 96% of the time with Bush has done a poll and...woops, despite the fact that the DNC and RNC have said Boozman's seat is safe...things might be tighter than the D's think in the 3rd. After all, Anderson has never released a tracking poll, and probably didn't have the resources to do one...Boozman, he's got the scratch, did he do one after getting hit by the "puppet piece"? If he did, he hasn't released it. Is that why Bush is in NWA - even though there are many more races that are on the very hot and very narrow national radar? Is Bush in NWA to shore up the base for Boozman?

3. Or is Bush in NWA because no other Congressman or Senator wants him anywhere near them in the last 72 hours? That the 3rd is so R that even Bush couldn't f**k up the 3rd?

What do you'all think?

Thanks DBI, I realize the post is way too long but it's slow Saturday and I was just overwhelmed with
Gelbart's name-title rant, too kewl.

A$a! is desparate! hell you don't want to watch tv because all except PBS has his mug on their about every 20 min. He waited too late to show us children just aren't for throwing mud and making insults. ADG letters page is full of anti-Asa letters because of his mud-slingin kiddies.
People just don't like A$a.

Half time is kinda boring. Exciting game so far. See if Nutt can hold it.

November 3, 06

Today Halter issued a press release announcing religious leaders' support for Bill Halter and listed 10 Reverends. Only one reverend's church was identified - a Unitarian Universalist Minister. Two paragraphs of the five paragraph press release contained his quotes. The denomination or church of the other ministers were not named.

Does anyone else find this humorous (but sad) - that Halter gets a minister from a church that is known for not believing in God. That's right, in case you are not aware, according to their own websites, most Unitarian Universalist church members do not believe in God or a supernatural supreme Being, do not believe in the Bible, do not believe in heaven, or life after death and do not believe Jesus Christ is a supernatural being. Many of their ministers are self ascribed atheists.

In fact, sources report that most Unitarian Universalists do not consider themselves Christians, and Unitarian Universalists have been rejected for membership in the American National Council of Churches. See this link for documentation: http://uufnorthiowa.org/100questions/c1.htm For more documentation see links at the end of the article.

Don't confuse Unitarian Universalists with the Biblical Unitarians. Halter's press releases specifically said the pastor endorsing Halter was a Unitarian Universalist minister. Biblical Unitarians do believe in God, Bible, Deity of Jesus Christ, etc.

Halter claims he opposes homosexual marriage and civil unions, but he married in a church this past January that conducts ceremonies for gay and lesbian couples, not called marriage since the law does not allow gay marriages. For more information and documentation on this fact, see www.whoisbillhalter.com. You will find a great deal of information on that site that will probably interest you.

For several articles to document the facts about the Unitarian church, see these links:

Couldn't care less chris. I still don't vote for BIG(idi)OTS.

I recommend some minor changes to the following signs:

End the Food Tax - change to, Send the Fool Back

Stop Illegal Immigration - change to, Stop Legal Degradation

The Uniterians I know all believe in God.

As far as Christianity, I'm a Christian but it doesn't bother me that Halter is endorsed by someone who is not.

I'd vote for someone endorsed by a Buddhist in a New York minute.

It does bother me that we've got religious leaders endorsing political candidates, though.

I think the Dems ought to leave that to the Haggards and Falwells of the world.

Don't forget that Jesus was crucified by a partnership between an occupying military power and fundamentalist religion.

Jesus might be sitting in Gitmo right now.

Is WalMart on the list? They started the outsourcing of good jobs.

Hey Chris,

How many souls (14,000), and how many marriages did "Pastor Haggard" have stewardhip over? Because he's a lying, cheating, hypocritical piece of shit - does that make the 14k and those marriage's are somewhat tainted.

That dog don't hunt. Try it over at ArkFam

Unless I overlooked it BlueTicker I think you miss another real good reason Bush was in NWA stumping for Asa again. It's one of the few places in America that will have him.

The other Republican candidates across the nation, you know the ones with a chance of winning or holding on to their seats have sent out a Thanks but No Thanks to Bush. They'd rather have Rev. Ted come speak for them than George W. Bush.

So they are booking Bush into safe places where the majority of the voters are sooooo far hooked on the Kool-aid that they actually welcome Bush. By the end of 2007 Bush's own evil sow mother will be slamming the door in his face when he knocks. He's poison, he's used toilet paper, he's whale snot and only a fool like Asa would welcome him, Mitt Romney and old H. Barber.

Oh I hope Asa has gotten used to the smell of desperation in the morning. But I will say all these visit by walking turds is probably adding to his stash of money that he's got buried outside of Siloam Springs. That's Asa's big retirement fund. We need to form a posse and go up there on November 8th and look for a fresh mound of dirt out in the woods.

Of course it will be a few years before he sneaks back to dig it up. But wouldn't it be fun to dig it up buy a few gay porno tapes to stick in the sack and then bury it all a mile west of the original spot. About 2011 we could start watching for Asa frantically digging all over looking for his loot. And then of course when he finally finds it and those gay porno tapes, months later...the look on his face will be priceless!

If Rove and Diebold don't bite us for the 3rd time, this Tuesday is going to be a wholesale slaughter of the Republican Party and won't it be grand? Then on to the Great Investigations of 2007! I don't want to change the torture laws until 2008. I want to see Bush and Cheney do the waterboard thing just once before it goes away. Ohhhhhh...sing with me...

So long sad times
Go long bad times
We are rid of you at last

Howdy gay times
Cloudy gray times
You are now a thing of the past

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again

Altogether shout it now
There's no one
Who can doubt it now
So let's tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again

Your cares and troubles are gone
There'll be no more from now on
From now on ...

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So, Let's sing a song of cheer again

Happy times
Happy nights
Happy days
Are here again!

Chris Andersun,

Saddle your self-righteousness and ride it out of here. What you surely believe in your heart is religious purity is actually just old-fashioned bigotry and intolerance.

It is regretable for your soul that you skipped reading and understanding some of the more important parts of the new testament, especially the words and teachings of our savior.

Self-righteousness similar to yours was responsible for the holocaust and many other periods of atrocity, historical and current, where humans tried to exterminate others because they were racially, ethically, morally or religiously superior. I and those godless unitarian universalists, you are so contemputous of, will pray for you to grow out of the mean, petty, person you seem to be..

And if you wish to attack my beliefs, at present, I am somewhere between a Presbyterian, U.S. and Religious Society of Friends.

Poor ,Chris, going end up with a empty birdnest on the ground ......come NOV, 8 when we the people speak and we elect new decent human leaders.

The right wing fascists in this country claim to be on the side of freedom, but in reality they only believe in freedom for those who agree with them. Bush has made that clear with his "you are either with us or against us" mantra.

I have decided to personally give the "Stepford Kool-Aid Drinkers" 4 choices when they make ridiculous right wing comments in front of me. I would hope everyone here would follow my lead.

Those choices are:

1) Debate me on the issues and make an ass of yourself when you find that hollow "talking points" have nothing to do with reality.

2) Get into a physical altercation with me and find out the hard way that not being "with" the Republinazis does not make you a pussy.

3) If you whole heartedly believe all the propaganda and think you can beat me one-on-one with the first two choices then you should really consider enlisting in the armed services because they need easily programmable, totally loyal, angry people who are ready for a fight. The final choice:

4) Educate yourself on the issues, agree to disagree, and help us turn this country around. I can guarantee them the fourth choice is the only one they cant loose with! Those on the right prefer to silence any opposition instead of debating the issues. That is why they avoid talking about policy and go directly to personal attacks. This Independent voter has a spine and he is voting Green/Democrat to stop the enabling of the most incompetent administration in our nation's history.

It's the Hypocrisy Stupid!

There has been much talk about the Republican "base" of Evangelical voters and Christrian conservatives banding their flocks together to keep Republicans in power this election. However, many of them are starting to wake up to the fact that they are being used on a grand scale. And yet there are still those who are "asleep at the pew" and ready to vote Republican on baseless moral grounds.

I have a question I would love to ask of all the religious wingnuts. If their mythology is true and Jesus decided to come back tomorrow, how do they think George W. Bush, his demonic administration, and Republican enablers in Congress would react? A) Would they allow a peace loving, liberal, hippie to make peace on Earth and all men and women to be equal? OR B)Go to war with God to maintain their power, control, and fortunes? They know the answer would be (B)! So my next question would be... Doesn't that make him the Antichrist according to their mythology??? That same mythology would also label psuedo-religious leaders like Falwell (and dont get me started on Pastor massage-n-meth Ted Haggard), who support their endtimes boogieman as "false prophets." No wonder they call it a "flock!" These people are sheep!!! Maybe some are waking up to the fact they are being used after seeing the complete and total hypocrisy of the Republican party. It's hard for a president to convince anyone he is pro-life when it comes to banning stem cell research while thousands are being sent to their deaths in Iraq. It is also ironic that the very party that puts forth a homophobic agenda turns out to be full of closeted homosexuals and pedophiles. It's not what you say, it's what you do. For real Christians and people of any faith the mantra for the next election should be, "It's the hypocrisy stupid!" We have all heard the acronym, "WWJD - What would Jesus Do," but a more suitable acronym in this age of hypocrisy would be, "WWTDTJ - What would They Do to Jesus!"

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a communist; Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a socialist; Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a trade unionist; Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-- because I was not a Jew; Then they came for me-- and there was no one left to speak out for me. -Pastor Martin Niemöller, 1945

I found this book ,and thought I'd suggest it to Chris Anderson . he will need something to read after the elections .

The purpose of this book is to present some of the evidence of the prevalence in the early centuries of the Christian church, of the doctrine of the final holiness of all mankind. The author has endeavored to give the language of the early Christians, rather than to paraphrase their words, or state their sentiments in his own language. He has also somewhat copiously quoted the statements of modern scholars, historians and critics, of all sides of opinion, instead of condensing them with his own pen.

The large number of extracts which this course necessitates gives his pages a somewhat mosaic appearance, but he has preferred to sacrifice mere literary form to what seems larger utility.

He has aimed to present irrefragable proofs that the doctrine of Universal Salvation was the prevalent sentiment of the primitive Christian church. He believes his investigation has been somewhat thorough, for he has endeavored to consult not only all the fathers themselves, but the most distinguished modern writers who have considered the subject.

The first form of his manuscript contained a thousand copious notes, with citations of original Greek and Latin, but such an array was thought by judicious friends too formidable to attract the average reader, as well as too voluminous, and he has therefore retained only a fraction of the notes he had prepared.

The opinions of Christians in the first few centuries should predispose us to believe in their truthfulness, inasmuch as they were nearest to the divine Fountain of our religion. The doctrine of Universal Salvation was nowhere taught until they inculcated it. Where could they have obtained it but from the source whence they claim to have derived it--the New Testament?

The author believes that the following pages show that Universal Restitution was the faith of the early Christians for at least the First Five Hundred Years of the Christian Era.

Universalism...First 500 Years

Hey Chris here is some more Unitarian (pre-merger) Thoughts for your research and education . Seems you know little or nothing about the UU Faith .

Rev. Albert Hussey's statements on honesty as a religious value;

--------------------------------------------------------

"There is one virtue which from the beginning has been our
distinguishing characteristic and which still endures in all its
primitive glory. we have no creed...Incorrigible individualists,
essential non-conformists, lovers of liberty, one and all, they think
through their thoughts, stand squarely on their own feet, call no man
master. In the average Unitarian congregation you will find theists
and humanists, radicals and conservatives, mystics and hard-bitten
realists, agnostics and devout believers. But one point of view unites
them one and all. Servetus, Theophilus Lindsey, Channing, Emerson,
Parker, together with heroes and prophets of a later day, all were in
one respect, alike. All had one great characteristic. They were men
[and women] definitely and positively honest, having an intellectual
integrity which guided and shaped all they thought and did.
Passionately, wholeheartedly sincere, they dared to think things
through, having the courage of their conviction, they absolutely
refused to pretend to believe what they knew in their hearts wasn't
so...Rather than surrender their integrity, they have endured
hardships, persecutions, ostracism, sometimes death. Intellectual
honesty, that is what [Unitarian Universalism] stands for, first, last
and all the time. This is our primary excuse for being...And until
this is insisted upon with equal courage and fervor among all churches,
the battle...is still not won, our battle is still in process. The
struggle that has truth as a goal and honesty as a method is still the
vanguard battle of religious liberals..."

"While unquestionably there are men and women [in other faiths] who are
sincere, there are thousands of other men and women...whose conformity
is more external than genuine...This habit of thought is altogether
wrong. This dodging of logic, putting up with half-truths, toying with
conscience for the sake of expedience, is wholly dangerous. Harmless
as it may seem, intellectual dishonesty is a deadly poison which
affects all life, and if unresisted, eventually kills our better
selves...."

"One of the worst evils in the world today is dishonest thinking. In
politics, business, here and abroad, it is rampant. Nothing, I submit,
is doing more to hinder the establishment of the reforms our world so
plainly needs. And the evil, I firmly believe, is largely due to the
intellectual dishonesty, conscious or unconscious, now prevailing among
churchmen...."

"We [UU's] are a small body. Probably our numbers will never be great,
for it hurts many people to think. Temperament, indifference, a
willingness to bow to authority, a habit of following the crowd, all
these combine to make them conformists...We do not feel ourselves
better than our neighbors. But we do claim one advantage. Our native
wealth is honesty. A dishonest Unitarian [Universalist] is a
contradiction in terms. Frankness, sincerity, straight-thinking and
plain righteousness is our rule in life...Always, under all
conditions...letting the chips fall where they will, we shall not only
strengthen our own inner happiness, and the happiness of those about
us, but set an example which shall be a challenge to the better selves
of men [and women] everywhere...."

Wonder why Halter didn't get some Catholics to endorse him since he is a Catholic?
Is it because he is pro abortion and for gay rights (even though he pretends he is not)

Chris,

I see you believe your bigotry and intolerance makes you omniscient as well.

You are truly a sad, petty little person, consumed by the fires of your hatred and ignorance. If you look, you will find soulmates in Madrasahs all over the Middle East.

Just ignore Chris. He's a little robo-repug who drones on and on.

Just hang up on these freaks with their hangups. Hang out with those who really want to help you and this country hang in there.

You gettting the hang of it now?!
