Just like the Mark Foley story, the Rev Ted story is like salve for the scorched liberal political wing of the country.

I just wish that the homophobic right wing of the populus could get their heads around the fact that some people are just gay, and that there is nothing inherently wrong with that. There is something terribly wrong with being a hypocrite, though.

These two guys are human beings with urges and feelings. I have a problem with Foley's acting on his urges because he may have caused harm to a child.

I don't give a rat's ass that Haggard got a massage or much much more from the prostitute dude--they are adults and it's none of my beeswax.

What I care about is the influence peddling and political corruption and the power they both wielded through their positions.

I think it was Cato who posted a picture of Ted and dubya mugging it up for the camera. Could someone make one of those montage slideshow thingies with images of dubya posing with all these corrupt a-holes and set it to some appropriate music such as America The Beautiful?

You know I never really bought into the idea that those that scream the most about homosexuals do so because they've repressed the urge to couple with the same sex all their lives.

But now....I'm not so sure that's not exactly what's going on. It very well could be a sure sign of homosexuality when you stand on a corner bashing gays 24/7. Maybe they do all the screaming to drown out the little voice in their head saying...DO IT...kiss the next guy...wear a dress....let your lisp come on out.

Another few years of married life and I might switch sides, but up to now I've gone whole weeks without once thinking about homosexuality. To top that my dear wife can go a whole month without thinking about heterosexuality, but that's another story.

Obviously we're all minding each other's business way way too much these days. As long as I get my once a month sex, I don't give a flip whose sleeping with who. As long as no one scares me, I don't care who lives in my neighborhood. If someone works a good 8 hour day, I don't care where they're from or how they got here.
Like I said before, Gunner's TV ad full of gay people has an effect on me he never intended. Rather than seeing a bunch of queers, I see a bunch of people happy in love and while it's not my exact cup of tea, I'm delighted for anyone who has found a mate and is ready to settle down and work towards a committed relationship. Any love is better and more natural than none.

I hate hypocrites.....period. Rev. Ted and his ilk sicken me far more than homo's in love...far far more. And more and more it looks like the Rev. Teds of the world are more the rule than the exception.

Another week of his gay bashing ads and I'll start thinking Gunner is a switch hitter too. Vote smarter this Tuesday!

I hear ya, chasv! I'm personally okay with the homos -- they don't bother me any -- but I know how it is to have an irrational fear of, or aversion to a certain group of people.

With me it's the body builders. I'm what they call a hunkaphobe. I don't know if I was born a hunkphobe or if my hunkaphobia is a product of my upbringing or environment. But there's no denying ... I hate me some body builders!

I think body builders are gross. I don't like to look at them. I don't like to be around them. They are not normal and they are not natural.

I don't think they should have the same rights as the rest of us because they are freaks. They should not be allowed to marry one another because then they'd have kids that they would raise to be body builders. They sure as hell should not be allowed to be foster parents. Our most vulnerable citizens should not be exposed to such a twisted lifestyle.

The body builder pride parades make me want to puke.

Body builders have made the conscious decision to devote too much time, ego, and money to the body builder lifestyle. They weren't born that way, and God does not want them to be that way.

I'm not sure of the chapter and verse, but I'm pretty sure there's something about body builders in Leviticus.

I don't want my young son to be around body builders because he might be influenced by their well-known recruitment methods into the body builder lifestyle.

I said hate earlier. I don't hate body builders, mind you, I just hate what they do and how they are. They are an abomination and have no place in society.

I have a cousin who is a body builder. When we were kids we were very close and spent a lot of time together. I honestly love him and want the best for him, but now that he's an adult and has taken on the body builder lifestyle, I can't stand to be around him.

He came by the house at Christmas and I told him, "I'm sorry, but you just can't be here." I hated to send him away, but I just can't have him around my kid.

So I know what you're going through. If everyone on the planet felt the way I did, there would be no more body builders!

I agree with DBI - I don't care what adults are having sex with each other. I do feel sorry for DBI, though, if that once-a-month is more than just hyperbole. That kind of madness could cause a man to play for the other team. :)

In so doing some tapped into that source to find magnanimous love and compassion for their fellow beings. Hence we have the universal Golden Rule expounded by saints and sages of all great religions.

However, some instead tapped into the dark side of humanity wherein lurks vengeance, power-lust, jealously, and greed. All this - the good and the bad - they projected onto the Power that created them.

Those of us who adopt the dark side of Scripture to justify our own paranoia, bigotry, and hate only hasten the route to the Armageddon of man's collective evil in this shrinking world.

Those who tap into the Scriptural strain revealing love and benevolence beyond the bounds of clan, tribe, and nation are now the only hope for humankind. The all mighty power will not interject. It now seems entirely up to us.

So let us instead tap into the profounder source of benevolence beneath the humanly conceived specters of evil.

Chasv, by being a literalist in your approach to the Bible you seek to abolish the mystery of God which is something you are told you cannot do. Worse yet, you have chosen the dark side of God as your path.

You have chosen salvation not to love but to hate and that is wickedness. God says he is both good and evil and you have chosen evil. Jesus came to overcome the evil God created and condoned.

In my book, you have sided with the god of evil. It shows in your hatred, your bigotry, your childish amusement in promoting pain and punishment for those you dislike, your ignorance of the big picture, your lack of reasoned argument, and your bogus piety.

I'm what you'd probably call a Zen Christian. It's probably far too complicated for you to understand and I don't think it would ever fit with your view on proper religious conduct.

Just ask yourself this: which, the god of evil or the god of good, would wish someone to burn in Hell? From all your statements, it seems you have chosen the god of evil.

The god of good knows who has chosen the god of evil. He knows who has forsaken the path of love, forgiveness, and compassion for his fellow human beings.

That's why one of the most important parables in the Bible is the story of the good Samaritan, someone who takes care of those who are looked down upon by the Pharisees (those self-righteous hypocrites of the church).

Chasv, even Jesus said that when you turn your back on any fellow human being, you are turning your back on him. Just like the Pharisee.....

You really need to start worrying about your own soul, not ours, because it's the one troubled and in trouble.
