Hump night?

Time for an open line? Psychotics for Bush? Etc.

Comments

Actually Bush and his lot are so out of it it's beginning to be a little pitiful. I mean, I still hate him, and especially Cheney, but it has become like a horrible car wreck -- except that, despite the hair, teeth and eyeballs all over the pavement, the driver still imagines he's cruising along enjoying the view.

Here!

Pathological liars for Pritt?

This game is fun!

I, Drew Pritt, was the first statewide candidate in the great state of Arkansas to be embraced by and endorsed by the National Association of Psychotic Voters (NAPV).

When other candidates turned their backs on this group, I welcomed them to my campaign. They are my most ardent and sole supporters.

Lobbyists for Beebe !

Oh wait, I mean "well versed" political appointments.

It's only "Lobbyist" when talking about conservatives. Sorry libs.

Speaking of psychotics, has anyone heard anything about the lovely Ann Coulter? Did the Republics lock her away in a fallout shelter somewhere?

According to AccuWeather.com the first ice is entering the NW corner of the state as I type.

Wal*Marts are probably selling out of survival supplies this evening. When winter moves through, people always think they're about to die and they don't have enough food in the house to survive 2 days.

They also fill their cars with gas for some reason.

I'm an avid reader, but a "posting" virgin... so here it goes.... Kramer's racist rant and the fallout from it have given me real concern lately.. here are my thoughts.. and I preface them by saying I'm a liberal democrat.... 1. It was wrong for him to say those things/ it's wrong for ANYONE, INCLUDING BLACK PEOPLE to make racist comments 2. The two black men in the audience should have never responded with "white boy" and "cracker" 3. Why are those men wanting money? What's that going to solve? 4. Does one event like this (by a Hollywood comedian) really rise to the level of "systemic racism" as Jesse Jackson would have you believe? 5. And this isn't connected to Kramer's outburst, but.... why should colleges, and the federal government continue to shell out money and resources to a minority group that has made no real progress in helping themselves since the civil rights movement?

Now Powell is calling it a "civil war" and calls upon the world leaders to face reality. He surely doesn't mean that includes his president, does it?

Contractors Braced for Increased Congressional Oversight
After riding high for five years, government contractors are bracing themselves for increased oversight, tighter budgets and stepped-up regulations as Democrats take over on Capitol Hill and vow to keep a closer eye on how companies spend taxpayer dollars. Contractors benefiting from reconstruction work in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Gulf Coast are expected to get special attention, and the no-bid contract will become an endangered species.

Bush still doesn't have a handle on reality. Everyone around him seems to be doing their best to screw everything up even worse than they have already.

It reminds me of a time -- more than 50 years ago -- when our college was surprised with more students than anyone expected. Our department had to create 12 new sections and scramble them into one classroom presentation for 250 students.

So this large section would be taught by the Old Curmudgeon who was the Head of the department.

On his first day with that class, the Old Curmudgeon's lecture was a slide presentation that compared religious differences that showed up among Gothic Cathedrals. So, his projectionist was flashing slides from a tray filled with images of famous Cathedrals.

In the middle of all those Cathedrals, the projectionist had secretly hidden a slide of an oil painting -- a sensual nude by Modigliani.

The Old Curmudgeon lecturer had never used a microphone before, but now he had this lavaliere mic hung around his neck. Even his breathing was amplified as he read.

He was reading his lecture and never looked up from his notes. As he read about the "groin vaulting", "groined arches", and other architectural details, the class erupted in laughter.

The Old Curmudgeon stopped reading. He looked at his audience. He turned around and looked at the huge Modigliani nude behind him on the screen.

Forgetting that he was hooked up to a microphone, the Old Curmudgeon blurted out, 'Jesus Christ! How the hell did that goddam thing get up there?!"

The class was in chaos and had to be dismissed.

The Old Curmudgeon admitted that he was in OVER his head in trying to teach a huge class with modern inventions like projectors and microphones. He turned the class over to someone else to teach.

The Old Curmudgeon was smart enough to know that he had to get out of that classroom.

Bush isn't that smart. His sycophants have finally given up the flattery. His trusted ideologues are now saboteurs and practical jokers. He's into the soup way OVER his head.

As I contemplate Bush in the White House, I keep hearing the words of that Old Curmudgeon fifty-odd years ago: "'Jesus Christ! How the hell did that goddam thing get up there?!"

Hump Night?

Kinda hoped to have that on the evening agenda but it seems a little crass to actually designate a night for it . . .

What Don....you think something is wrong with every 3rd Saturday of the month? Are you insulting my wife?

I'm all of a sudden being reminded of teaching jr. high and high school. Things I couldn't say without giggles and tee-hees across the room:

* Turn to page 69.
* They had a gay old time.
* (at activity time) - Bring your balls in.
* The cock crowed.
* He was stabbed in the breast. (That one was from Julius Ceasar - 10th grade)
* Anything dealing with A Separate Peace. They thought those boys were gay for sure.
* Dick Nixon, Dick Allington, Dick van Dyke, etc.
* Erect (that was used a lot in literature to refer to someone's posture)
* One text we read used "ejaculate" for someone speaking quickly and loudly. That was lovely to experience.
* Tit for tat (OMG - that one really got them going b/c they didn't even know what it meant!)

I never called Wednesday "hump" day either, needless to say.

No insult intended - I thought the third Saturday was her monthly bath night.

Yeah, L&P, I taught Sunday School and other church classes back in the 70s, and there were LOTS of such phrases one stepped around.

For those who might not have been paying attention, when, on Palm Sunday or Good Friday, one chants the Passion from Matthew, Mark or Luke, one is forced to sing "And the cock crowed" three times. There were always titters.

Sort of breaks the mood.

Iraq Study Group will recommend "gradual pullback" of troops

Via The New York Times, another leak timed for the Bush/al Maliki meeting:
The bipartisan Iraq Study Group reached a consensus on Wednesday on a final report that will call for a gradual pullback of the 15 American combat brigades now in Iraq but stop short of setting a firm timetable for their withdrawal, according to people familiar with the panel's deliberations.

The report, unanimously approved by the 10-member panel, led by James A. Baker III and Lee H. Hamilton, is to be delivered to President Bush next week. It is a compromise between distinct paths that the group has debated since March, avoiding a specific timetable, which has been opposed by Mr. Bush, but making it clear that the American troop commitment should not be open-ended. The recommendations of the group, formed at the request of members of Congress, are nonbinding.

A person who participated in the commission's debate said that unless the government of Prime Minister Nuri Kamal al-Maliki believed that Mr. Bush was under pressure to pull back troops in the near future, "there will be zero sense of urgency to reach the political settlement that needs to be reached."

"Lobbyists for Beebe !

----------------

You're only lying to yourself if you say you haven't heard us libs criticize Beebe and his lobbyist ties. Many of us didn't vote for him.

Your side is the one that has the lemming-like "follow-the-leader" mentality, not ours.

Psycho.

Prouster and Uncommon Sense....you show what a coward you are to say something on this board that you never would have the guts to say to my face. Even if you did, it shows what little character you possess to insult someone else to make yourself feel better.

Roman Nome:
If you choose to be a politician, you need to get used to cheap shots. That comes with the territory.

Might I remind you that you have (at least) three choices:

1-Thicken your pale white skin and ignore them. (Eventually they will [probably] tire when they don't get a response from you).

2-Play their game with a sense of humor. (If you have one).

3-Respond in kind which assures that the insults will continue. (Looks like you are outnumbered and outgunned on this one).

By the way, when you challenge your opponents (anonymous closet psychos?) by slapping them with a cyber-glove, keep in mind, they know who you are - do you know who they are? Could be a plot for an Alfred Hitchcock movie . . .

Go back to the "Gold-Plated Library" entry in the archives on 11/27 and click on the link to the Waco newspaper. There's an Arkansas connection there. Tommye Lou Davis, who is quoted as head of the Baylor bid group, is from Little Rock. In fact, she graduated from Hall High in 1962 and was governor of Arkansas Girls State in 1961.

Not much of a surprise but Texas ethics commission ruling makes cash bribes legal in Bushstate.

"Not much of a surprise but Texas ethics commission ruling makes cash bribes legal in Bushstate."

One good thing about the Texas Commission: It's so corrupt it 'might' make Arkansas' Commission look not-so corrupt. What a joke.

And, I'm sick of this stupid, redundant so-called Baker Study Group. It's redundant and partisan (Republican good ole boys/gals plus Democratic good ole boys equals one big screw to 'real' change). The biggest, most expensive government ever and we have to drag up a bunch of good ole boys/gals to cover Bush's ass while they tell us nothing new. Why are we paying for this huge government if nobody inside it can do the hard work?

It seems that every time our government gets one of these so-called non-partisan gangs together to solve one of the serious problems facing us they always find the same thing: First, no one is to blame for whatever mess they've created. Then they issue some kind of generalized common sense master plan without...like 'We recommend that at some point we should reduce troops in Iraq.' Well, no kidding.

Okay, that felt good.

Spirit,
Folks fill up their vehicles before a snow fall because it adds weight, which can help some vehicles, especially trucks, in slippery situations. Also, if you do get stranded the more gas you have the longer your heater can run.

"Also, if you do get stranded the more gas you have the longer your heater can run."

And the more time you get for a healthy dose of carbon monoxide. Hee.

Don Keyhotay, I will try, I just tire of the constant tirade. Worse off, if someone is going to say something, you'd think they would have the courage to say it to their face.

Got to get that exhaust pipe cleared of snow or the "big sleep" will get you for sure Quapaw.

Good advice. Good post.
