JP election

Available returns put Allen Kerr, the Republican, ahead of Democratic incumbent Kathy Lewison (178-127) in the race for JP District 3 from western LR.  I'm not sure I can sweat this one in, but that could be a final tally. Final tally: Kerr 920, Lewison 779.

Comments

If I heard correctly, Kerr won with 54% of the vote to Lewison with 46%.

Look close guys at the details by precinct. These are the early votes and absentee ballots only. Patience....

Hey, sam, I talked to people who have seen all the numbers. No patience required.

I hope you are wrong!

Here we go...

LOS ANGELES - A federal judge struck down President Bush's authority to designate groups as terrorists, saying his post-Sept. 11 executive order was unconstitutionally vague, according to a ruling released Tuesday.

I have seen the final numbers and Allen Kerr won with 54% of the vote

I'm not.

Man, that didn't take long - The Republican revolution has begun!

Wise choice WLR, I am sure that Kerr will be a fine JP. I am sure he will be good at handling money like when he ran then anti-jail committee. they were over budget by a mere 75K. great fiscal manager.

Kathy Lewison, who claimed to have balanced several county budgets, left the last one about $6 million in the hole. There is nowhere to go but up from Kathy Lewison, who never contributed anything approaching an idea to county government in the 4 years she was there. I am sure she'll run again for something in 2 years -- and continue to be a luminescent lime green embarrassment.

Such a shame. Kathy Lewison was one of the last truly honest and dedicated public servants in this state. She loved her job, loved the people she worked for, and made every effort to vote the way they would want her to vote. What's more, she treated people like human beings, including the county employees, people who never get so much as a "hello" from other members of the court. I've watched Kathy grow and mature as a public servant and she has done an excellent job as a JP. Allen Kerr's attacks against her were baseless and shameful. Kathy beat Allen Kerr in the general election and I'm convinced that had the third party candidate not been in the race, she would still be the JP for that area. I hope this isn't the last we see of Kathy. Her honesty and integrity are refreshing and needed in public office.

Gnu --

I would be interested to know which "attacks" by Allen Kerr you thought were "baseless". Can you name one, or are you just making it up because you're unhappy that your candidate lost?
