Pay raise time
The Little Rock Board tonight spent more than an hour in special session evaluating City Manager Bruce Moore and City Attorney Tom Carpenter. They apparently passed the evaluation, based on Mayor Jim Dailey's brief remarks.
The Board approved a 4 percent raise, same as that given other city employees, to Carpenter, who makes $124,000, or a raise of almost $5,000.
Moore did much better. He got a raise from $149,240 to $160,000, or better than 7 percent, plus some adjustment to enhance his time off to levels given other department heads.

Shame that Dailey didn't take any of my advice about how to help his image. Pussy.

Let me get this straight, our city manager and our city attorney can manage to get this kind of raise, but on the other hand, the many departments that they oversee, their employees who have been the backbone of this city, (always never mentioned to the public, employees from the parks, police, fire, codes, etc, who have been relentless and dedicated)never seem to get a fair shake on raises, or better insurance that doesn't have to change every year, or anything else. They have suffered under all the excuses as to their isn't enough money for everyone, mind you, due to the fact that management has their hand out first, and they have to tolerate one excuse after another. Where does it end? Does anyone realize what all it takes for the average Joe to go to the areas of town the general public doesn't want to hear about or even see and try to make the city better for everyone? They have to do this without pay raises, support from city manager's office, sometimes even the board of director's input. Money, politics effects this city at a rampant rant yet the average Joe employee that works for the city can't afford to have their paycheck match their personal pride in their job. But the city manager and his cronies do.

Gee - in the old days, you worked for the city (or other governmental entity) not for the token pay but because all you had to do was show up since firing you was next to impossible unless you committed a pseudo felony in the eyes of the public..
My, how things have changed . . . at least the pay part anyway.
