Senate in transition
Shades of Nick Wilson. An unnamed senator popped a "rule change" on the Senate at its 2007 organizational meeting today. Nobody would fess up who wrote it. But it required that, rather than seniority, that the Senate co-chair of the powerful Joint Budget committee be determined by a vote of the Senate. The effect was to allow The Brotherhood to bypass Sen. Dave Bisbee, who they'd spurned for Senate president pro tem, and put Republican Sen. Shawn Womack in his place. The debate wasn't always pleasant we understand. The Brotherhood prevailed, 21-14, adding three new members -- Crumbly, Pritchard and Thompson -- to its membership.
Can you say oink, oink?

ARK. BLOG: Nothing unusual outside of Joint Budget. Bisbee has efficiency, if you care. Argue keeps Education. Etc. Repubs are i rotation as vice chair and with seats everywhere, but on top only on joint budget. ONLY

I'd think on the first day of a new direction the first order of business is to find out who slipped this little gem up in for a vote. His or her name please! Let there be new light shown on trick players like this. Someone please find out the name and then we can proceed to tar and feather them.

The "kleptocracy" returns. We've just seen how 6 years of govt without checks and balances on the national level. Now 1 party rule is reborn in Ark.

Guess again Bubba.
Pritchard and Womack,
maybe a few more,
are Repubs who went
along with it. It is, as Max
indicated, a move to set up
to control the huge surplus
about to be squandered by
both sides.
Hold ALL their noses to it.

Bob Johnson is a dangerous little mo fo. When Nick was shut out in the Senate by Beebe-Harriman-Snyder et al, he turned to the House to continue his thieving and there he met the sniviling Mr. Johnson who fell in love with the backroom shadows and tries to emulated Nick's ability to operate puppet strings.
The new governor and his chief of staff need to be well aware.
