Mike Huckabee: Pluses and minuses
CBS takes a look at the lesser-known candidates in the 2008 presidential race, including Gov. Mike Huckabee.
Assets listed: Governor, Southerner, Baptist minister, good speaker, conservative.
Liabilities: Ability to raise money, low name recognition. Also:
He's drawn criticism for verbal missteps, including jokingly referring to his weight loss as due to "six weeks at a concentration camp" and for calling his state a "banana republic." He has also been cited for five violations by the Arkansas Ethics Commission, all dealing with not reporting gifts or cash.
And maybe they should ask him about the lack of state inventory for the $70,000 in furniture sent to the Governor's Mansion early in his tenure. Is it there? Better yet, how does he explain his justification for hauling away gifted governor's office furniture with him when he leaves?

Comments
"Southerner, Baptist minister,.."
Southerner an asset only in being a Republican.
Baptist minister an asset? Holy Moly, Amos. Only in being a Republican.

Seems like any Arkansan could sue him for return of that donated furniture (it is our property, after all). I'd say the state should/could but that's too ludicrous too contemplate (though the state has no problem going after the average citizen for theft of state property...and try telling law enforcement you can't find it so it doesn't count). Perhaps our new attorney general will see fit to enforce state law equally...but I won't hold my breath.
I can't believe CBS failed to mention Dumond; or all the other prisoners Huck set free.

Believe me, if he gets any traction in the primaries, Dumond will get beaucoup air time. Huckleboy likely has a entire team working on the spin.

The next Willie Horton! How appropriate for Repubs to get a dose of their own medicine.
