Here's some more good news -- UPDATE
A report is out that Economic Development isn't the only agency with a change of leadership to come. There, we've reported, Maria Haley will be returning from Washington to replace Larry Walther. Gov. Beebe has now also confirmed that he won't be keeping Marcus Devine at the Department of Environmental Quality. A Beebe spokesman had nothing to offer us on Devine's successor.
UPDATE: Though Beebe's people won't talk, blog readers do. And one of them, a person who's almost never led us astray, says Teresa Marks, who was a deputy attorney general under A.G. Beebe, will be heading up DEQ.

Comments
Marks is an excellent appointment. Consumate pro. The hits keep on coming.

Looks like Beebe is once again repaying almost 20 years of favors. How is he going to repay the people who are already dead. I guess he'll give their kids a job.

Maria Haley will be a superb Director of Economic Development. She was instrumental in working with Dave Harrington in making the agency a model for other states to follow.......before Huckabee sent Barbara Pardue down as Director and basically destroyed the agency. Hopefully, Maria will be able to restore some its former credibility and vitality.

"Maria Haley will be a superb Director of Economic Development."
Amen.
And anyone would be an improvement at AEDQ over State-Paid Chris Morris Campaign Manager Devine.

I wouldn't say they are sour, but in all of his speeches Beebe promised new blood in the system. Now when I think of new blood, I don't think of some term limited buddy or someone who was here, went on to something better and is now back. Bringing in someone from the DC beltway, is about the same as Halter coming back after a 20 year hiatus. Beebe is about one step up the ladder from Huckabee and about as slimmey as Jason Willett.

For 10 years, Huckabee has appointed sychophants whose only qualifications were being willing to kiss Huck's ass and tell him how he was God's gift to poliic and policy. Now, after having to watch the state stand still, Beebe is appointing people who have a clue.
