Messin' with Texas
I just stumbled across a blog reporting on one of Mike Huckabee's interviews this week. In this one, Huckabee blames Bush's lack of a humble foreign policy on his Texas background. (Bad as Texas is, even we wouldn't blame the whole state for Bush.)
ABC News’ Teddy Davis Reports: In a forthcoming interview for C-SPAN’s "Road to the White House," former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., attributes President Bush’s failure to fashion a "humble foreign policy," at least in part, on the President’s home state of Texas.
"Some of it is the language of Texas, and I mean that in a very loving way," said Huckabee who also attributed the change in President Bush’s foreign policy approach to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Huckabee, who is actively weighing a 2008 presidential bid, said in the interview that he understands the Lone Star State because Texas is a neighbor of Arkansas and he attended four years of school and graduate school there.
"It’s a matter of saying, ‘there’s a line in the sand and you’re either with us or against us,’" said Huckabee. "Well, we understand what that means in the South and Southwest. But in many countries and cultures that may be seen as an ultimatum."
Huckabee concluded by saying that America’s approach to the world "probably is something that needs to be revisited and repaired."

Connecticutt is George Bush's home state. He was born there, reared there and educated in private schools there from elementary through college, from childhood through adulthood. That's his background.

"There's always a problem with giving a junkie another fix. It can only make things worse. Our maximum leader says that unless he gets to mainline another 21,000 troops, "Iran would be emboldened in its pursuit of nuclear weapons," and terrorists "would have a safe haven from which to plan and launch attacks on the American people."
Excuse me, but didn't we hear that same promise in 2003? Nearly four years ago, on the eve of invasion, this same George Bush promised, "The terrorist threat to America and the world will be diminished the moment that Saddam Hussein is disarmed."

Is Huckabee really expecting to be taken seriously with that statement? Someone ask him the difference between Sunni and Shi'a.
As for including kinship of Bush Texans with Arkansans, it just sounds like a stupid jr high football coach with no grasp of the game.

"[Huckabee] understands the
Lone Star State because
Texas is a neighbor of
Arkansas and he attended
four years of school and
graduate school there. "
Ah, maybe that last part explains Huckabee's swagger and attitude. I knew it couldn't have come from Arkansas.

Oh I get it now! Bush is the 3 legged dog who walks into the bar with a big gun saying, "I'm looking for the man who shot my Paw!"
And 3017 dead US troops later the line in the sand in Iraq is being drawn all the way across to Iran and Syria. Almost 700,000 people have died because Bush is supposedly from Texas and sees the world, worst yet, directs US policy in black or white. Off or On... binary terms any 4th grader knows better than to use.
But Huck says it's OK because he himself went to school in Texas. Blow the living shit out of women and little kids and old people..ha ha ha ha cause our Prezdent is one of them simple Texans.....
Jesus take me now....take me now Jesus! I can't live in such a stupid world where anyone would waste print and pixels on a dumbass who ignores death untold, danger that will eat us up, just to laugh it off on his old pardner from the Lone Star state.
Too bad Huck is 51....he would have loved Hitler. That old German goose-stepper...ha ha ha...what a card!

Huckabee remains a simple-minded preacher who is accustommed to being congratulated for his sermons as he greets his congregation at the door.
That has nothing to do with his being from Arkansas, any more than Bush's colossal failure as president has anything to do with his opportunistic identification with Texas.

the only thing that needs to be said to Texas is
You can have him, I don't want him,
he don't luv us anymore.

Curious....exactly how is "you're either for us or against us" NOT an ultimatum? I grew up, went to school and still live in Arkansas and that's what I always thought it was.

That's one of the few things Huck's ever said that makes sense.
I don't think Huck has a chance in hell of being a serious contender in the presidential race but he's smart to separate himself from Bush.
