New blogger on the block
I can't be sure that the author -- Jimmie Higgins/Delphi -- is one and the same with our blog's periodic contributor with those monikers, but the content of his/her new blog, the People's Tribune, suggests that it is.
The Tribune is just up and running and promising lots of legislative oversight. Notable in early posts is a takeout on Gov. Mike Huckabee's breathtakingly illegal effort to direct General Improvement Funds to unappropriated uses, including a $1 milliion tribute to his personal fat doctor. As Delphi makes clear, the greater lingering offense is by the poor-mouthing University of Arkansas. It hasn't helped itself with the tacit admission that it has money in hidey holes all over the place that can be applied to whatever special interest needs may exist, even cleaning up after a grandiose governor who doesn't intend to let the law stand in the way of passing out money to friends. Next time Chancellor John White drops to his knees and begs for money for his malnourished campus, somebody pour a pot of hot coffee on him, will ya?
And thanks to the folks over at Matilda's Advice and Rants blog for the tip to Jimmie and Co.

Whoa...John White is a liar, a crook, and a horrible administrator?
Shocker!

Referring to Dr. Philip Kern as Huckabees "Fat Doctor" strikes me as a snarky backhanded slap at the Huckster. Dr. Kern is an accomplished endocrinologist who founded the UAMS Weight Control Program. This program has helped hundreds of Arkansans including me.

Dr Kern is, I believe an innocent in the affair. He is an outstanding investigator who still has personal involvement in patient management. Kick the Gov to the curb, and maybe UAF Chancellor, but please leave the good Dr out of it.

Who in the hell is Jimmie Higgins? I thought Delphi was suppose to be a well known person. Anyone can claim to be Delphi. Personally I don't think that blog is written by Delphi.
There is absolutely nothing on that blog that I haven't already read elsewhere.

I have no idea who "Delphi" is or is supposed to be. I like the choice of Michelangelo's fresco as an avatar, though.
Maybe "Delphi's" voice is meant to be something like "After her death, it was said that she became a wandering voice that still brought to the ears of men tidings of the future wrapped in dark riddles."

Welcome Delphi! Long may you be lighting fires under the dirty and the incompetent in our government. The power of the Internet and blogs are not the only reason Democrats won last November, but it sure as hell didn't hurt a thing.
It's apparent that politicians do not want oversight of anything and sure won't be voting more on themselves. That leaves US. And our goal is very very simple....honest government..that's all....nothing fancier than that.
Those that get their kicks by going to meetings and wearing little buttons go ahead and make it a party thing. Put Ds or Rs behind everything, I don't care. But also make sure that your guys with their buttons and hats remember to be clean and honest and to push for that 24/7 so our kids and grand kids can live in a nice place. Not like the shit hole world Bush & Cheney have created.
We have to work on a city, county, state and national level to make sure the people we elect do their jobs, which is taking care of us and not go off with Jack Abramoff, Halliburton, or Exxon making the world a better place only for them.
We spend all day doing business with other people and only in our government offices does honesty and a fair deal seem like a wet dream.
Next year at this time I hope to be madly in love and proud as punch of our new governor and our new Congress. I look forward to a world without Huckabuck, Pryor, Lincoln, Lieberman, Bush, Cheney, Condi.....oh god...the list does go on and on.
Good government! Ask for it by name!

I don't know Dr. Phillip Kern but I doubt that the Huckster came up with this "lofty" plan all by himself. I bet he got a little prompting from UAMS. UAMS is notorious for being at the front of the money line when no one else even knows there is a line. Least we forget, UAMS is a state supported institution and should be held accoutable for their actions as any other State supported Agency. Who would the endowed chair really help, the citizens of Arkanas, help UAMS's academic stading or maybe help the Huckster get nominated for Pres?
