Warrant issued -- UPDATE

UPDATE: An arrest was made today in Los Angeles in the killing of a bank teller in Little Rock Dec. 23. Prosecutor Larry Jegley said police stopped the suspect while driving and found a warrant was outstanding for his arrest for capital murder.

Earlier, the LRPD announced that it had identified a suspect in the fatal shooting of Metropolitan Bank branch teller James Garison in a robbery Dec. 23. He is Grover Evans Jr., 18, last known address 9124 Susie Lane. He had no previous criminal record but is named now in a capital murder warrant, police said.

Authorities said he was identified as a suspect by his mother from a photograph of the robber taken by bank surveillance cameras.

Money Talks!

This whole thing is really sad. Is this man the son of Dr. Grover Evans, the motivational speaker who has managed to overcome a terrible accident that paralyzed him?

IF he is the son of Dr. Evans....how sad. How very, very sad. According to the Ark Black Hall of Fame webpage, Grover Jr. was 8 years old when Dr. Evans was inducted.....in 1996. This is 10 years later, and that would make him 18 now.

How sad for the Evans family IF this is their son.

My heart still goes out to the Garison family and friends.

I once heard Dr. Evans speak and remember him to have been paralyzed over 20 years at the time of the speech, which would mean he couldn't have produced an 18 year old son; however, it is possible that he adopted a child. It would be odd for there to be a Grover Evans, Jr in Little Rock not belonging to him. Anyone know? I feel for Dr. Evans if this is his soon--what a fine man Dr. Evans is.

ARK. BLOG: I've found a 10-year-old clip that said Grover Evans Sr., a former Jonesboro city official, state employee and former co-chair of the M.L. King Commission, had an eight-year-old son named Grover and, at that time, a wife named Pam, the same name given by police as Grover Jr.'s mother.

Bronx---What makes you think a quadriplegic can't father a child? It is possible through methods other than sexual intercourse. Whether the child was his natural child or adopted, I'm sure Dr. Evans considers Grover Evans Jr as his son. And no matter who his parents are you should feel bad for them.

I applaud his mother who had the courage to do what was right and turn him in. What a tragedy!

Hehe, you guys at the Blog should talk to each other. *Someone* has posted a link on the original blog entry on the robbery as "More details here" from the Baxter Bulletin, dated today, that leads with the relationship of Jr to Sr, and includes quotations from Sr.

It's here:

It is not impossible for Dr. Evans to be the biological father of the younger Evans, through the traditional method. I used to work at a facility that dealt with quads, and that portion of the body(penis) worked in the manner it was designed. I guess I have become too much of a cynic to generate any compassion for anyone who chooses to act out in abberant ways. Hold him accountable for his action, even if it means death. Forgive him, yes; but, forgiveness has little to do with reaping the consequences of one's choices.
