JOHN WYVILL STATEMENT

For nearly 11 years, I have been privileged to serve our fellow citizens in state government. For me, there could be no greater honor.  For the past 7½ years, I have served in the Department of Workforce Education, six years as commissioner of Arkansas Rehabilitation Services and the past 1½ years as your director.  Now it is time for me to close this chapter of my life and move on to the next. I am resigning effective the close of business Thursday, March 15.

I want to thank Governors Huckabee and Beebe for giving me the opportunity to serve with you in DWE.  In their dealings with me over the years, Gov. Beebe and Sen. Harriman have been stand-up leaders and class acts.  I wish nothing but the best of success for both of them in the years to come.

I consider myself blessed to have worked with such wonderful public servants at DWE. Because of your devotion to our mission – at times with great personal and professional sacrifices – we have accomplished many good things during my tenure to improve the lives of our fellow citizens.  As one person told me, there is nothing more rewarding than using the gifts we have been given in the right way to serve the people of this state.

Each of you has been a source of inspiration over the years as we have worked together.  I will be forever grateful for these experiences as they have enabled me to be a better leader, husband, and father.  Thank you.
