Let us now praise -- the legislature?

Brummett edges out on a limb and says, admittedly with time left to regret the decision, that this may be the best legislature he's ever witnessed. On big picture stuff, he makes a strong case. That doesn't mean there's not ample, self-interest, silliness and venality to go around.

I submit that the fat surplus has a lot to do with how good the legislature appears.

In a money squeeze they wouldn't appear nearly so farsighted and thoughtful.

Am I the only one concerned that SB 390 is going to allow DHS to create its own police force?

Am I reading this bill wrong or does it allow every state agency to create its own police department?

Doesn't that seem like a very bad idea?

Re: That doesn't mean there's not ample, self-interest, silliness and venality to go around.

Just like any family, any religion, any school, any government, any business (including newspapers), any group, any subgroup of the human race.

I'm happy ANYTIME there's good news to be found within government...especially since monkeyboy's crew has turned incompetence into an art form.

Does this mean term limits are working?

Extremism in support of private insurers is no virtue, and President Bush was defiantly unvirtuous in resisting a Medicare bill that preserves and strengthens government-funded health care for elderly Americans. /more/
