Public service announcement

Quiz Bowl happens to be a competition near and dear and so I'm happy to plug an event organized by the Parkview High Quiz Bowl team. It's hosting a middle school Quiz Bowl tournament at Parkview Saturday March 17 as a benefit for Darfur. All team entry fees will go to humanitarian aid in Darfur. The Pulaski Academy chapter of Amnesty International will present a short program on the conflict in Darfur before the preliminary rounds begin.

You can drop in at any time. Smart kids from middle schools all over Central Arkansas will astound you with their knowledge in a good cause. I'll be moderating the final round, sometime between 2 and 3 p.m.

My 16 year-old granddaughter scored 30 on the ACT, with a 33 in reading. That on a day after a long bb game trip and getting home at 1 a.m. You can see there's great coordination within the school system when it comes to schedules.
