Charmer

Salon.com gives Mike Huckabee's front-page coverage today as a candidate with potential crossover appeal to Democrats. and the potential to "outcharm the GOP Big Three." (Didn't happen at the CPAC convention over the weekend, if the straw poll is any measure.) But writer Michael Scherer says Huckabee has that "special something -- the charismatic ability to connect with the common man ..." It's a full biography. It includes a generally positive quote from me. Typical yellow journalist. Leaves out all the good stuff.

Scherer is nuts...Kool-Aid swilling nuts. But then...if Hillary and Mark Pryor's voting records/actions during monkeyboy's presidency are reflective of where today's Democratic Party resides, empty-words Huck might fit right in.

We Americans , abetted by our abominable corporate press' ghoulish spoon feeding of mindless banter such as that concerning the death of a retarded unfortunant who was a monument to plastic surgery albeit hair too blond, teeth too large, gums too visible and IQ too invisible; seem nevertheless to be stirring from our collective comas, jolted by the deaths of a hundred young soldiers every month, GOP-Gay-Scandals-Of-The-Month, Cheney/Bush living out their Dr. Strangelove dreams , emerging concerns regarding our "passing the torch to a new generation", a torch fueled by tens of trillions of debt, a barely sustainable planet, a constitution on life support.
Now the Corporate Press has issued orders for wall-to-wall coverage of an election nearly two years away which insures such voter burn-out that we won't care which cretin is awarded the scripted election victory.
As a life-long Arkansas native I am watching with perhaps more passing interest than the average bear because several of the current contenders have pronounced Arkansas connections. Mike Huckabee who just completed 10 years as our governor is an announced GOP candidate for the presidency of the United States. Hillary Clinton served 12 years as Arkansas' First Lady followed by 8 years as our country's First Lady and is an announced Democratic candidate for the presidency. General Wesley Clark may announce another bid for the presidency momentarily.
Those of us not on life support in Arkansas should absolutely know neither a Huckabee nor a Clinton possesses the basic moral fiber or even a smidgen of the human decency to be a rank pretender for the role of "Leader of the Free World '.
The Clintons and Huckabee have failed miserably in following either of the two major tenets of perhaps one of the most important moral philosophers in the history of our species, Jesus of Nazareth:

"Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, you have done unto Me." Matthew 25:40
Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the Kingdom of God.
Matt: 9:14

Huckabee and the Clintons have presided over the affairs of Arkansas for a combined 22 years and can rightly take credit for our state remaining at the bottom of our nation's children's health care, our nation's public education system, our nation's household incomes.
The Clintons and Huckabee oversaw Arkansas' children remaining throughout their decades of stewardship among the highest in numbers of children suffering in the depths of extreme poverty, of children languishing in the nations most scandalous juvenile corrections system, of children grotesquely maimed and even killed in criminally shameful psychiatric facilities , of children treated in questionable medical facilities by doctors, nurses, attendants who can barely speak our language.
But to completely wrap your minds around the utter contempt these reprehensible pretenders and unfortunate stewards have for the "least of these" and of their clearly demonstrated callous disregard for the suffering of little children who are rightly the essential element of the Kingdom of God, allow me to introduce you to nine children who have for decades been ruthlessly abandoned and victimized by the Clintons and the Huckabees here in Arkansas.
Twenty years ago Kevin Ives and his best hunting buddy, Don Henry, slipped away from the warmth and safety of their parents homes to team up for a night of coon hunting in the nearby woods of Saline County a few miles southwest of Little Rock. While Bill and Hillary slept in the Governor's Mansion twenty miles away, Kevin(17) and Don (16) most likely stumbled upon crimes so horriffic they were murdered, thus forever insuring their silence.... Murders that have remained unsolved with plenty of evidence of a lack of outrage, if not outright complicity, from the Clinton administration and later that of Huckabee .
Janie Ward (16), a vivacious, popular coed at Marshall High School, waved good-bye to her parents Ron and Mona Ward on a warm August afternoon in 1989. Sometime that evening Janie was probably beaten to death by some of the other children at a gathering in the Searcy County woods nestled high in the Arkansas mountains about an hours' drive south of Branson, Missouri. Janie's death has also been heinously ignored by the Clintons and Huckabee and remains unsolved.
May 5,1993 the lives of six children were tragically altered. Three small children were brutally murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas and later three older children were most probably unjustly tried, convicted and sentenced for the murders of the Cub Scouts.
Today, the older children are young men in their thirties and are known around the world collectively as the West Memphis 3; WM3 on protest signs, petitions, movies , documentaries, books, magazine articles. Janie Ward died in a struggle that for years was preposterously ruled an accident by the Clinton's State Medical Examiner, Fahmy Malek, M.D. This same stupendously corrupt/incompetent medical Examiner also a few years earlier had ruled Kevin and Don " accidentally ' fell asleep on a railroad track and were run over :
On August 23, 1987, seventeen-year-old Kevin Ives and sixteen-year-old Don Henry, were murdered in a rural community just south of Little Rock. Their bodies were placed on railroad tracks and run over by a passing train. A cover-up began immediately and eventually extended to every level of government involving local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Initial cause of death as determined by the State medical examiner Fahmy Malak, was the result of falling asleep on a railroad track after smoking marijuana on August 23, 1987
Later it was determined that Kevin died from a crushed skull prior to being placed on the tracks
The FBI has investigated this crime and the case remains open .
Found dead along with Kevin Ives was Don Henry
Their lifless bodies were struck by a train at 4 A.M., The train crew observed the two boys lying between the rails with a rifle beside one of the boys and both partialy covered by a pale green tarp, both were facing straight up, neither moved as the train, blowing it's horn approched at 55 miles per hour, they were struck and chopped up under the train.
The train crew noticed that the blood of the victims was purple and not red and having already congealed, had not flowed out of the body parts. In fact, they reported there was "very little blood at all and sure seemed to suggest the boys were dead long before they were placed on the tracks ".

And what of Janie Ward : Dr. Fahmy Malak, well known for his screw ups as a past Arkansas medical examiner, 16-year-old Janie's lungs weighed nearly double than normal, and seemed to be filled with water; she had multiple critical injuries including a broken neck, broken nose, ribs, cheek, puncture wounds; yet Malak listed the cause of death as accidental death, resulting from a fall from a porch approximately a foot high".
Janie's murder remains unsolved and has been yet another grotesque stain on Arkansas justice system since 1989!
The incomprehensible lack of official vigilence from people who have gone on to become President of the United States (Bill Clinton), United States Senator and candidate for US Presidency( Hillary),Govenor of Arkansas for 10 years and candidate for the US Presidency(Mike Huckabee)
could lead one to resignedly shake one's head in bewilderment and frustration.
However, one of the key suspects in the murders of Kevin and Don is now being tried for multiples crimes and outrages during his tenure as Chief of Police in the town of Lonoke, Arkansas...though not the murders so long ago. This has prompted ABC Television to begin production of an exposee' of the Boys on the Track. The current trial is scheduled to last weeks and....world wide attention is blessedly probable.
Janie Ward's travesty is also receiving a renewed flurry of activity after Huckabee was finallly forced to award $10,000.00 of tax payer monies in December,2004 to to 18th Judicial District Prosecutor Tim Williamson of Mena and his deputy, Paul Bosson of Hot Springs, a retired prosecutor who's also on the state Crime Lab board . Though the Ward family and many others across the state placed their faith in Williamson to bring this chronic infection to a head such was not to be:
Williamson was appointed in December 2004 by Circuit Judge Charles Clawson of Conway, Arkansas to pursue the teenager's 1989 death. He replaced 20th Judicial District Prosecutor H.G. Foster, who closed this "undetermined" case within a year, despite myriad unresolved questions, then sat on it for 15 years.
The Wards' attorney, Jerry Sallings of Wright, Lindsey & Jennings in Little Rock, asked Williamson to resign his appointment after nearly 27 months of shirking his responsibilities and making numerous hollow promises to the Ward family and our state.

When Mr. Williamson was appointed by Judge Charles Clawson, Jim Rose called Mike Masterson to express his appreciation for Masterson's having published a voluminous number of columns the past 18 years concerning the Janie Ward case. Attorney Rose soon concluded Mr. Williamson failed to do his job and to perform the duties given to him by Judge Clawson, but that he misled not only Ron and Mona Ward, but also Mr. Masterson as well as the entire state of Arkansas by not doing anything.
Jim Rose, one of Arkansas' most distinguished attorneys for 28 years, further opined, "Mr. Williamson has totally ignored his court-appointed duties and it is time for him to accept the black mark that he already has brought upon himself, both professionally and personally, with respect to his handling of the Ward case and seek Judge Clawson's permission to resign so that another special prosecutor can be appointed. At the same time, Mr. Williamson should be required to account for every penny of the $10,000, which Governor Huckabee authorized for investigation of this case." Mr.Rose admitted he was biased because he was biased toward justice, integrity and honesty, none of which was evident in Mr. Williamson's bungling of his court-appointed duties. Mike Huckabee left office in January failing to do anything about Williamson, the $10,000.00, and his duty to pursue even the feintest hint of justice. Mr. Williamson remains on non-duty and the money has
remained unaudited.

.------Staff columnist Mike Masterson is the former editor of three Arkansas daily newspapers.

And of the WM3? New DNA evidence has surfaced which if the Arkansas Justice System will allow into evidence may well result in a shattering change in the fortunes of Damien, Jason and Jessie, not to mention that of my candidate for the real perpetrator who is also Mara Leveritt's choice and the overwhelming choice of most fair-minded investigators of the nauseatingly vicious murders of the three tiny Cub Scouts from West Memphis, Arkansas.

This 63 year-old life long Arkansan will never consider a vote for either the Clintons or Mike Huckabee. General Wesley Clark is the only native Arkansan I'd grace with my endorsement and ballot....unless Dale Bumpers runs again!

Perhaps we should organize an Arkansas Swift Canoe group to paddle the Huck butt when (if ever) the media comes calling for local perspective.

I still say much ado about nothing. Huck is working his ass off to become the number one turd in the Republican punchbowl. Jim Holt balancing all the Duggars kids on his head has as much chance of being Prez in 2008.

The Republican Party is looking more like the US Taliban everyday. Only the rabid 29% Bush zombies will be voting Republican in 2008. Go Huck! Be a national loser!

"Huckabee has that "special
something -- the charismatic
ability to connect with the
common man ..."

Huckabee has about as much in common with the comman man as does the queen of England.

Spirit, is that why legislators commonly referred to Huck as a drama queen?
