Cry the beloved country
NYPD spy on peace protesters in advance of the 2004 convention in New York, when civil liberties were mocked.

somewhere in my Document files I have an article on Bush's jackboots in Memphis forcing protestors to remove offense signs before he came to town.
Royalty show is over, DeLiar is gone,
Rove in deep doo, Gonzales on his way out the door, another Palace Coup coming to a close. Spring is good. Like my friend DBI can't wait till next week and get closer to getting our nation back.

What's next? A breaking story on who's who on this blog?
One of my children actually attended peace protests during that time. Scary.
Is anyone sure we still live under a democracy?

There are two very different worlds at play:
1. Reality
2. What people perceive as reality.
I'm glad to say that most of the people who regularly read this blog are at least somewhat attuned to the fact that something isn't right.

Not sure what the big deal is here. On one hand you have the NYPD doing advance work on potential troublemakers likely to show up in their fair burg. Sort of like doing homework. And we all know that when you do your homework the surprise pop quiz is not much of an issue. In fact, if an unfortunate event were to occur, many would be quick to criticize the NYPD for failing to research and prepare for those likely to cause problems. In short, they can't win.
On the other hand their "surveillance" of church groups, theatre troupes, etc. sounds like nothing special. Think about it. Is it really "spying" to watch and record what people are doing in a public location? If it is, let's make sure we come down hard on reporters like Jim Harris who attend concerts and record the actions of the performers and often times those in attendance. Hope you all see the humor in my comments.
PS: Ready Freddy said Melvina found a busy bee in a black orchid. :)

I'm not sure what's worst...but I'm leaning toward the latter...that Gonzalez/FBI nefariously/illegally spied on Americans for sheer partisan desires; or that they incompetently/stupidly and illegally invaded people's lives. Somehow, a smart/competent but crooked politician seems more palatable than the incompetent alternative. Guess that's ANOTHER lowering of the bar for chimpy's gang. I want smart crooks/liars.

Several weeks ago, the History Channel had a series on "The Dark Ages". I think this era will be known as Dark Ages 2. And it's a long way from being over.
