Murphy Oil keeps on giving to El Dorado. Not long after its huge scholarship program for El Dorado High School graduates, it announced last night a $5 million gift to build a new community center at South Arkanas Community College.

Wal*Mart supports NW Arkansas.
Murphy Oil supports El Dorado.
I keep wondering when The Lord's Ranch will give something to Randolph County.
Should I hold my breath while waiting?

In NE Arkansas the Nucor and Nucor Yamato Steel companies donate a lot of funding to various community projects in Mississippi County.

Just to stir up some crap, what does Deltic Timber do for community except make a fortune? They took away the Hwy. 10 baseball facilities which left a huge hole in kid's baseball. I'd love to hear of something postiive they have done.

Certainly they keep giving. It's your money they are giving.

So . . . are you going to start calling it the University of Murphy or is it only the Waltons you hate so much?
ARK. BLOG: If the Murphys start dictating curriculum down there and if the university down there starts violating the FOI so as to kiss the Murphys' asses, maybe.

They are making so much money from us that they have multi millions to give away. After filling my tank this afternoon for 2.89 a gallon, reading this doesn't give me that positive feeling for Murphy Oil.
Even though this kind of generousity I'm usually all for.

Spirit,
Not being from NW Arkansas, what does WalMart support there?
I know about the basketball arena but what does WalMart do for education and the residents of Washingtion County and surrounds?

Wasn't Fed Ex wanting to put their main hub up that way at one point, ....oh that's right, our leaders kicked them out of the state (the went to Memphis instead).
I guess maybe Toyota or Nissan could put a plant up there...do you have any preachers who tell kids not to go to school and take mandatory tests because he thinks they are "racist?"

You'd have to ask someone from NW Arkansas. I'm about 250 miles east of there.
I can tell you they support very little here in Randolph County, compared to the amount of profits they ship from here to Bentonville.

We're 2 hours from Marion and Memphis. I don't think FedEx knows we exist.

We should all be thankful when the rich throw us any crumbs. I'm not happy when I fill my....wait, put my usual 20 bucks worth in my tank. I am still happy that the Murphy's have made it possible for any kid in El Dorado to go to college if they're willing to work towards it by getting decent grades.
If only all the rich of Arkansas would throw such crumbs.
