Where women rule

Imagine such a place. Why, it could even be a tourist attraction.

Chinese tourism authorities are seeking investment to build a novel concept attraction -- the world's first "women's town," where men get punished for disobedience, an official said Thursday.

The 2.3-square-km Longshuihu village in the Shuangqiao district of Chongqing municipality, also known as "women's town," was based on the local traditional concept of "women rule and men obey," a tourism official told Reuters.

"Traditional women dominate and men have to be obedient in the areas of Sichuan province and Chongqing, and now we are using it as an idea to attract tourists and boost tourism," the official, surname Li, said by telephone. ...

The motto of the new town would be "women never make mistakes, and men can never refuse women's requests," Chinese media have reported.

When tour groups enter the town, female tourists would play the dominant role when shopping or choosing a place to stay, and a disobedient man would be punished by "kneeling on an uneven board" or washing dishes in restaurant, media reports said.

I recall reading recently that Iran is creating a women-only island where women can go enjoy the outdoors and all without having to "cover up".

Overall, though, they say Iran is having a big Taliban-style crackdown on women who don't cover their face enough, as well as men who wear their hair in western styles. They said anybody who objects to the new policies should leave the country.

This is just a little preview of what's coming for America once the current Supreme Court gets its wings fully unfurled.

"...the world's first "women's town," where men get punished for disobedience..."

Oh my. I've known all along that, in general, I was right and he was wrong; I just didn't know I'd have to haul him to China for a demonstration!

I'd 'almost' be afraid for hubby (he doesn't take to 'wrongness' too well!). But I'd help him through the transition...

I presume you are referring to the "If you don't like it, leave" attitude being displayed even now in the United States, Spirit, and I couldn't agree more.
And with five Catholic justices sitting on the Supreme Court, I'm reminded of the days when a woman had to wear a headcovering in a Catholic church, not really that long ago. (Disclaimer: I have no argument with most Catholics. Indeed one of my best friends is a staunch Catholic -- where have I heard such before? -- who sent her children to parochial school and continues to be very involved in church and school activities. But I fear the justices would like to impose their religious beliefs on the rest of us.)
Now about the covering up of the female body, note that I enjoy swimming and do wear a shockingly revealing -- aren't they all -- one piece bathing suit while the male swimmers wear voluminous knee-length trunks -- an apt anme for them. OK, OK, I'll admit there are a few Speedo guys . . .
But I do object to teenyboppers, and adult boppers, wearing what my husband thought was underwear when he went shopping with me. (That's one way to get him to go find a bench somewhere.)
Oh well, I suppose I can't have my way all the time, dern it.

Why am I suddenly scared and sexually aroused? Women's Town! Population ME! OK...simmer down now.

The Uniter's 6 year program of dividing us into smaller and smaller groups is obviously spreading around the world. What about the Catholic City recently built in Florida. A gated community of Catholics only? Does that sound like a good idea?

Here in Arkansas we have something connected to Jim Holt called Spirit Lake, a planned slightly shabby community of super far right Christians only. If these kinds of ideas continue we'll have whole towns of Whites Only, Methodist Only, Last Names Between H and M Only gated communities popping up.

History shows when enough walled off places spring up soon they get out their guns and start shooting at each other. Why must modern life start resembling old Star Trek episodes from the 60s?

America the melting pot.....melting implies things running together. Yet we are separating as hard as we can go. I admit I naturally feel more comfortable in a group of people like me. It's a little strange living in the Fort Baptist Latin Quarter, but I think it's best I evolve and not move off.

After you run away from everyone that scares you the next thought that pops up always seems to turn around and shoot at them. We must be aware of our own human nature at all times and not let it turn us into haters or Republicans. Sorry to be redundant.

Still....the idea of being a pool boy in Women's Town.......hubba hubba!

"women never make mistakes, and men can never refuse women's requests,"

You have to go to China for that?
