Anti-war Republicans

The University of Arkansas has released results of a poll of 602 residents of Benton, Washington, Carroll and Madison counties -- fortress GOP, more or less.

It shows 53.1 percent believe the Iraq war was a mistake and that 57.4 percent favor bringing troops home in the next year.

Only 37 percent, even in yellow-dog Republicanland, want to stay the course.

Your beloved Democrats who came into office promising reform, change and to be "the most ethical congress in history" are now suffering from poll numbers worse than the man and the party they are trying to destroy.

29 percent.

Question ; Is it because they have ultimately failed to make good on any of their promises or because they are so invested in defeat in Iraq ?

It is not just that our leadership is poor. We are a poorer country in every respect other than waste and opulence. Repubs and Dems alike share in these mean days for America.

Sooner or later intelligence will return to our land if we don't lose it first.

"Your beloved Democrats who came into office promising reform, change and to be "the most ethical congress in history" are now suffering from poll numbers worse than the man and the party they are trying to destroy..."

Good gosh...what a load of nonsensical crap. As if President shit for brains has left any maneuvering room for others to destroy him...if they wanted to. His presidency is so filled with incompetence/lies/warmongering/arrogance/destruction that no person nor party can best him at it.

Most of us so-called Bush haters are too busy trying to end this ungodly, immoral war and salvage what's left of our Constitution/treasury/country to waste our time trying to destroy a man who's already rotten to the core.

As for the NW Republicans who've awoken to the obvious...too little, too late. Monkeyboy took your Party to the trash heap along with the rest of the country. And it'll take the rest of the country a long, long time to forget what y'all did when you chose inbred Bush blood over the country you supposedly loved.

Sorry Fletch, but there ain't no way in hell that the Dems share equal responsibility for the current state of our country...and I can find plenty to bitch about when it comes to the Democratic Party. Bush and the Republican Party have spent the last six years taking this country to depths so low, so new that saying 'they all did bad' just won't cut it anymore. Compared to the Republicans, the Democrats look stately and moral.

Sorry Zelda, that is my point. It was far too easy to get this far. Dems voted for the war, the patriot act, the tax cuts and more and, then stood silent for six years as we went down this road. Now they protest only weakly. Sure Bush is the worst America has ever seen but to say you can find a Fulbright or a Bumpers in this crowd is ludicrous.

Defend your Dems please if it makes you feel better.

From what I've read, it's the former. Most, when polled about why they don't like congress, say, "they never get anything done."

But that's the nature of a split government, with a President bound to veto anything progressive passed by a congress controlled by the opposition. If you come up with something Bush will sign, the congress isn't likely to support it in the first place.

Stalemate. They never get anything done. Still much better than what the last Republican congress was getting done.

Back to the survey:

"Conducted in both English and Spanish, the Northwest Arkansas Omnibus Survey uses random-digit dialing to contact a random sample of residents."

I'm all for including our most populous minority in the survey. However it should be noted that less than 10% of Hispanics vote.

But is very notable that "unlikely voters" were more opposed than active voters. It usually takes a local/state issue to get a bump in registration/turnout but Bush's war may do the trick.

Keep pissing on that forest fire called Republicans, Citizen's Journal. With the help of god, ie MSM, you may put it out.

wow, you're making this way too easy. what lies? ties to al-qaeda? weapons of mass destruction? you mean the same thing the democrats said throughout the clinton presidency? the same thing they said from 1998 to 2002? guess what, genius? chemical weapons have been found in iraq, and it is well-known that saddam was secretly developing weapons. that is why the UN had 16 different sanctions! and let's not forget about about saddam kicking inspectors out of his country and keeping them out for 4 years! what could that possibly mean? *gasp* that he hid/moved his weapons? he did not destroy all of them like he said. and what about salman pak, a large terrorist training facility south of bagdad? i bet you know nothing about that. moreover, let's just ignore the 9/11 commision when it said iraq and al-qaeda did communicate on several occasions. in fact, iraqi ties to al-qaeda go back 15 years! this was common knowledge under clinton and has NOT been disproven! there is so much evidence about the connection that gets ignored it's pathetic. now it has turned into a partisan issue where everyone blames bush as if he was the first to link iraq to al-qaeda and weapons of mass destruction. you can't even see that this has become a partisan issue and the democrats just cannot stop attacking. no wonder the congress has a low approval rating! congress isn't doing anything! nancy pelosi is a JOKE! she is an unprecedented, absolute JOKE! i swear it makes me laugh. a TIMETABLE FOR WITHDRAW? are you freaking kidding me? we are fighting a WAR! what does that say to our troops who are fighting and dying for the people in iraq? what does it tell our enemies? the dems do not want success in iraq because it will make bush and the republicans look good. so, what are they doing? everyhing in their power to make sure we LOSE THE IRAQ WAR! they are holding their own personal lust for power over their own COUNTRY! the mainstream democrats are the worst party in american history! and you can soak in the FACT that your beloved BILL CLINTON and his administration was FAR more corrupt that bush could even think! it is time for you people to wake up. stop buying into polls! the mainstream belief is that most americans want us to pull out and end the war! what is that based on? an idiotic polls where 2000 to 3000 people are polled and the end result turns into a majority, which clearly it is not! this is how the media dupes useful idiots into beleiving this crap! POLLS ARE USELESS! i bet you think obama is going to be the next president! ha, ha! he is a joke. he has been senator for ONE YEAR! hello! news flash to all you people out their including the media who elevate him to such a high status: senators do not get elected! neither obama nor hillary are suitable to be president of this great nation.

so keep eating up the mainsream belief about a bad economy, a losing war, a corrupt adminisration (clinton was more corrupt), and manstream, conventional beliefs about al-qaeda, iraq and weapons of mass destruction. go on... continue to be a useful idiot to the radical left.

"Most of us so-called Bush haters are too busy trying to end this ungodly, immoral war and salvage what's left of our Constitution/treasury/country to waste our time trying to destroy a man who's already rotten to the core."

immoral war? unjust? in case you were born yesterday, the iraq war in the 90s was never over thanks to saddam violating the cease fire aggreement... so by that the u.s. involvement in iraq is not immoral or unjust. it seems that you have no idea what is at stake. instead you blame bush for terrorism and probably argue that our involvement in iraq is creating more... that is something i would expect from a partisan democrat. the dems voted for the war because they believed everything about iraq that bush did even before bush was in office. the left loves to yell about the constitution and how bush is violating it. blah, blah, blah. i suppose lincoln did the same thing as well as FDR. it is not illegal to wiretap foreign enemy communication. it is not DOMESTIC spying, which is what the rabidly partisan, mainstream media shout.

"Sorry Fletch, but there ain't no way in hell that the Dems share equal responsibility for the current state of our country...and I can find plenty to bitch about when it comes to the Democratic Party. stately and moral? ha, ha! good one! the democrats are cowards, have absolutely no plan whatsoever (all they can do is play politics with a war they voted for), lie about the iraq war, blame bush for EVERYTHING, and are to powerhungry to accept the fact they they agreed to go to war with iraq and ARE equally responsible for what is going on in iraq. the mainstream democrats want to pull out so they can say we lost the war because of bush's incompetence. they saw an opportunity to politisize the war for political power, and if you cannot see that you are braindead. at least bush isn't backing down and being dictated by polls like clinton and the democrats.

you have been brainwashed by mainstream beliefs because you cannot be objective. the media ignores what the 9/11 commission said about iraq and al-qaeda and ignores saddam's brutal, mass murdering regime, his desire to develop weapons and nuclear components, and the absolute fact that his regime gave aid and comfort to islamic radicals.

Hey Antony,

You posting from Iraq? All your grandstanding and defense is moot - you believe so much...strap on a gun and head to Iraq big guy.

Oh that's right...you "guys" have different priorites.

all little tony has got is some speed and a keyboard. He has no evidence of nothing he spews forth. Just another kool-aid kid, who drinks deeply.
why bother.

The low numbers for Congress applies to both Democrats and Republicans alike. I would attribute those low numbers to the outrage the American people have with the way things are going in our country right now.
What we all need to do right now to to insist that Congress turn this country around and get back on the right track.
It's going to take a LONG TIME, but Congress needs to grow some and start digging us out of the mess BushCheneyRove have gotten us into.
I write letters, make phone calls, and send e-mails almost daily. And encourage all my family to do the same.
I know I am preaching to the choir, but let's get busy and let our Congresspeople know how we feel.

I'd put some facts out there for ya Anthony but it'd be a waste of time; 'cause anyone who's seriously arguing all that crap is beyond reality.
