What a spectacularly handsome specimen and splendid addition to the Little Rock Zoo! Congrats and thanks to all who made it happen.

Speaking of spectacularly handsome specimens, my interview with zoo director Mike Blakely is in the audio section of lyncho.com.

He did the segment with #17 seated on his shoulder. Very cool pic of me and the bird in the "pictures" section.

Part of the interview is about the carousel, which will be operational later in the summer.

End of shameless self-promotion.

They're the colors of some shag carpet I once had in an apartment. One room's worth of carpet, mind you, all 8 colors.

In a city struggling with school and crime issues, the Zoo is a terrific asset in making the community more kid-friendly, as is the new baseball stadium. The zoo was badly in need of more variety to its exhibits. Nothing gets kids more excited than a bunch of colorful birds flocking to them to eat their food. it's actually a blast and they might learn something, too.

Beautiful creatures. I might even convince hubby to take me to the zoo again. But, as one who has had an unusual -- shall we say -- experience or two with birds and zoo animals, I'll be the one wearing the wide brimmed hat and carrying Handi-wipes.
