U.S. attorneygate II
And now the tenacioius Murray Waas is on the case in National Journal, exploring in detail some of the missing e-mails that Greg Palast also mentioned in the article we cited earlier:
The Bush administration has withheld a series of e-mails from Congress showing that senior White House and Justice Department officials worked together to conceal the role of Karl Rove in installing Timothy Griffin, a protégé of Rove's, as U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
The withheld records show that D. Kyle Sampson, who was then-chief of staff to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, consulted with White House officials in drafting two letters to Congress that appear to have misrepresented the circumstances of Griffin's appointment as U.S. attorney and of Rove's role in supporting Griffin.
Long, but interesting. There is no doubt the plan was to bypass Congress. And no doubt that lies have been told about this. Here's the Cliff Notes version from Talking Points Memo.

It looks to me like Sen. Pryor likes to use "pregnancy and motherhood" as political fodder instead of owning up to the fact that he voted for the provision which allowed for the temporary appointment.

Eureka-
I'm not so sure about PFAW's statement:
"This is about much more than fired U.S. attorneys. This is about illegal spying and illegal detention and disdain for Congressional oversight and the laws that protect every eligible American citizen's right to vote."
As today's threads reveal it IS about fired U.S. attorneys and I'm amazed that PFTAW has not realized that a huge voting fraud has been occurring all over the land , thanks the machinations by Rove and Griffith. Fired U.S. Attorneys is the key to cleaning out much of the Rove crime syndicate.
Of the two Godfathers of the syndicate, Rove needs to be imprisoned, Cheney has taken care of himself and if ABC decides to be honest Cheney is finished.

Yippers Red, Pryor, just like many Rs has been humped by the Raging Elephant, and it hurts. So he whines his away around the halls of Congress while getting all puffy at one of the guys who held him down while the Raging Elephant had his way. I'm thinking Ned Beatty of Deliverance fame.

Just like the Engergizer Bunny Griffin is still goin' as the U.S. Attorney. Rove and Bush succeeded and he will be there until the 44th President appoint a replacement.
He has as much intent of resigning or going before the Senate for confirmation as Sampson had of appointing anyone other than T**dBlossom's acolyte.

doc, with blessings to just about all your posts let me repeat
I DO NOT WANT TIM GRIFFIN to resign.
He will be called before Congress to raise his hand then testify. What comes next is going to rattle his rafters. They got big plans for Timmy and he knows it, Monica knows it...somembody is gonna have to step into the public square and take another beating so that Rove won't get his. It will be Timmy. When convicted he, like Scooter, will be pardoned unless they can get the conviction date past Jan 20 09. Tim doesn't want his guilt shining like dumbass Monica did so he stays on.

Hey Wanda, recall Watergate, it simmered below the surface for nigh on a year, called a "second rate burgulary". Demos are just finishing FIVE MONTHS as the MAJORITY Party in Congress...so the score is moving along pretty well. DeLay is facing charges and my money is with Ronnie the Austin prosecutor. Monica, one of the gang-leaders for stacking USA offices is gone, Sampson her boss is finished, the entire scheme is exposed enough for any Rovian USA to know phony charges brought before '08 elections may get them a Congressional grilling as well as any assistant USA who tries to pull the same Rovian deceptions.
Richard Vigueire may be correct...Demos don't want Gonzales to resign..they want him there for future embarassment (see bluename link)
I think Cinderellas like Pryor just wanted to protect his backdoor before the midnite hour in 08 elections set in and Griffin could have done some kinda of Rovian-designed harm.
Five months work ain't too bad so far.

Bush has to have Gonzales. He can't hire a NEW attorney general to continue the cover-up. Abu G is the undead, doomed to stay there repeatedly perjuring himself every time they question him.
Murray Waas plus the real reporters at McClatchy are getting deliberate leaks that lead directly to the White House. Probably Fielding is the source of the leaks. He's going to throw Gonzales over and let the water get good and bloody and then he's going to give them Rove, probably with Rove's full consent. It's all set up to keep Bush the last guy in the lifeboat come inauguration day, 2008. I personally think the whole boat will sink first but come on, water!

What a day! We finally got to see the House vote on a real Iraq exit including militia and contractors.
Congressman Berry!! What a fantastic vote you made today! Hot dawg! Arkansas we have one politician who might just be worth his pay and in need of a medal or something. He stood up as the first AR Congressman to vote to end the Iraqi occupation including pulling out the militia contractors. We have a hero, a true patriot, a man who says no more killing. Arkansas, we need to keep this guy around..the goopers and the theocrats are probably going to try and run him off and you know Haliburton, Exxon, and Blackwater will help them out.
See the vote rundown here: http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2007/roll330.xml
Wake up LR, talk to your Congressman Snyder and call your country friends and tell them Ross probably parties with Pryor over games of Risk every wednesday instead of going to Walter Reed and looking in on our wounded soldiers. Call Snyder and Ross every single day..picket their office if you have too.. they know this nightmare has to end and need to know you all have their back.
We gained a lot of votes in a very short time and the Dems are keeping tight hold on the purse-strings for now. Once you make that move it's obvious the rest must be done and done quickly.
If Speaker Pelosi keeps up her fine work.. I swear she deserves the presidency far more than anyone else. She is standing up for diplomacy and for an exit when no other major leader will dare. She and Berry give me hope for sanity when it is so god danged hard to find. But Snyder and Ross will not even stand up to vote with 159 other Dems who have seen the disastrous errors of our ways.
Three of our Arkansas Congress critters voted to continue killing for somebody else's oil. They voted to keep an exhausted US military either backed into a green zone or out building walls and trying to fence in Iraqis, innocent Iraqis treated much worse than animals in a zoo... more like American indians, slaughtered for their land. (another round of genocide anyone?)
They voted to send more untrained young American soldiers straight into battle. They voted to send injured soldiers back into the field of battle.
But Congressman Berry showed courage!
Snyder, Boozeman, Ross, all voted for an insane mans killing mission (Bush and Cheney) today.
I hound Boozeman cause he is all NW AR will pay for and I can only afford one zip code... what do you folks with Snyder and Ross as congressmen do?
Here is a short article on how we are only in it to steal iraqi oil
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/050707D.shtml#
Read this diary from dkos about Cheneys trip to Iraq and the Iraqi oil law...
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/5/8/11534/72040
Or here about US soldiers shooting Iraqis who were all holding their hands above their head in complete acquiescence or surrender...and our soldiers blew their heads off anyway.. Thats bad leadership from the top down, thats a mission failure.. thats just wrong... or don't we in america think so?
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/iraq/article1774532.ece
We have to stop seeing ourselves as anything other than complacent thieves and murderers in a lost occupation, a lost grab for oil. We have to stop thinking those people will sign an oil deal much less honor it if they do. We have to understand we have earned their rage and the rage will not begin to subside until we are no longer shooting them. (hello?)
Bless the 159 Dems who stood up today and said not one more day! Send Berry and the rest of them a note of thanks, or something, anything. And pray the day comes soon when our three misguided AR Representatives Ross, Snyder and Boozeman, join them.
Now we didn't win the best vote to cross the House in decades but I think we can get another one real soon. and Snyder and Ross need to be ready to do the only sane thing when it does.
As for Bush Cheney and Co... TO THE HAGUE! ( and save space in the ship for Gonzo, Tenet, Feith, Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Pearle, Abrahams, Ledeen and on and on)

If its really over you better hurry up and pack your bags, or prepare to wear one color of clothing for the rest of your life...cause these fascists will be expecting a life of indentured servitude from the masses....just like they expect our troops to steal iraq for them now... for what....the pleasure of killing and coming home to pay the neo nuts to damn much for stolen oil the rest of their lives? (which wont work due to global warming anyway)
Remember Bushco are the kind of folks who wouldn't give a few rotting FEMA trailers in Hope to tornado victems in Dumas..because they were Democrats...and because Republicans don't believe in helping people (even when its the peoples own tax dollar that paid for nthe trailers) republicans just know how to steal now a days.
The problem is Bushco is much much worse than Nixon ever dreamed of being..
They have corrupted the Justice Dept and our courts starting at the Supremes and on down through so many levels and their corporate masters own the big media... in the 70's this was not so at least not nearly as thoroughly... They steal elections, steal our money in so many ways its hard to count..and the US cash lost in Iraq could only be counted in semi truck loads..
But they didn't count on this right here.. the internet..and blogs. We now have a way to communicate on so many subjects and fact check and a memory combined from all our knowledge and experience..
And we have a few laws that remain intact... if we will demand they be respected. We desperately need to wipe out last years MCA and restore habeas corpus... or follow Senator Dodds plan to the letter on this point..
Worry, worry all day and all night...but do something..its our constitution, by golly.
It's up to us to speak loud and long..
