Big deal

Supreme Court will hear Guantanamo detainees' case.

I wouldn't want to be a prisoner anytime, but especially not if Gitmo were closed. I bet many would simply disappear.

I just got an e-mail from Gen. Wesley Clark's WesPac saying, "Senator Mark Pryor is under attack...Mark is one of Karl Rove's top targets for the 2008 cycle. Rove and the right-wing think they can take his seat from the Democrats, and they are already employing their dirty tricks to try to take him down....Will you join me and contribute to Senator Pryor's campaign before tomorrow's critical June 30th fundraising deadline?"

I'm not about to let Rove take that senate seat for the Republicans, but that doesn't mean I have to support Pryor in the primary. Give me any other alternative...please!

Terrific, the scotus will hear these cases.

Will the fox also sit down for tea with the hens this afternoon?

Does taking away Pryor's Senate seat really amount to "tak[ing] his seat from Democrats?" Wouldn't Pryor actually have to be something more than a merely nominal Democrat before that could happen? Why should Rove target a safe vote?

On the actual topic: With the make-up of the current SCOTUS, this may not be the best time for the Gitmo case to be heard before them. I'd hate for them to make a bad ruling that will take decades to overturn.

On the Pryor sub-thread: If Rove is indeed targeting Pryor, Rove is confusing his politics and Bush's political needs. Because Pryor votes so frequently with the Bushists, Rove could be going after Pryor because of the U.S. Attorney embarassment. However, it was Rove's screw-up that led to it. After Pryor had so faithfully voted with the Bushists, they nominated a political hack who had under-handedly campaigned against Pryor, nominating Griffin apparently without consulting Mark. That's an easy way to cause a Senator to retaliate.

Rove, as with most presidential political plotters, has stayed beyond his effective shelf life and is now a liability for the Bushists. I only hope that they keep him on while he wreaks more damage upon the Repugs.

Also, I must remind you that the Green Party has a candidate for the '08 Senate race, Rebekah Kennedy.

If the election were held today, I would vote for Kennedy before I would vote for Pryor or any republic candidate.

Big questions are ... will a good Dem step up? Who might that be?

That letter sure lowers my opinion of Wesley Clark. First of all it's a damn lie and secondly if Clark loved his country he'd move back home and beat Pryor out of his Bush-loving Senate seat. I think they're all in cahoots and the joke's on us. Shame on you Wesley Clark!

Now....you don't have to be too smart after this last week to know which side the Supreme Court will come down on. 5-4 the prisoners at Gitmo will lose. Then Cheney can go right back to torturing them and Christian Republicans everywhere will be happy.

We're living in Insane World....how do we escape? Shame on the Supreme Court and Wesley Clark!

Amen to that. But don't you think Clark is just doing this in hopes of appointment to a high position in the first Pryor administration?

I just got an e-mail from Gen. Wesley Clark's WesPac saying, "Senator Mark Pryor is under attack...Mark is one of Karl Rove's top targets for the 2008 cycle<<

That will teach Mark to suck eggs.

So the Religious Right wing of the Republican Party won't accept a woman in the pulpit but will accept a woman in the White House. /more/
