Latest on Kenyana Tolbert

Kenyana Tolbert, a promising North Little Rock football player who was left a quadriplegic by an injury in a game 10 years ago, died today, according to Arkansas Business' Jim Harris . BUT, you'll see that a blog reader who is close to the family questions this. We're checking.

CORRECTION AND UPDATE: We just talked to Harris, and he says previous reports on Tolbert's death were incorrect.  Tolbert is alive, on life support. Harris has updated his original report to correct it and include comments from Tolbert's father about his son's condition.

Sad, sad.

Ark Blog,

Please have Jim recheck.

Kenyana did not die last night. He was actually still alive this morning.

A quadraplegic can fool you.

We are praying and it doesn't look good but don't give up hope yet.

My source is my best freind, Kenyanna's uncle.

ARK. BLOG: I have a call in. Thank you.

We can't get through to anyone and it has us very worried. We expect they would have called.

ARK. BLOG: Jim says he talked with three different people, but he's rechecking with the hospital.

A fine example of the perils of the "new media."

Sometimes firstest with the mostest is wrongest.

Tell Jim thanks.

The situation is not good but grave.

Kenyana is in all our thoughts for obvious reasons today and it is a surprise that it has been 10 years.

A thought we had was Kenyana was expected to have had a great college career and the family was hoping for the dream of going pro. Kenyana had wished that through sports or through his college degree made possible by sports he could get his mother a nice place to live and a nice car to drive.

Well the family did receive a new house and custom van because of Kenyana. It just turns out that it was becasue of an outpouring of love from the community because of Kenyana's character, not his athletic abilities.

It should have said "not good but NOT grave"
