Holiday plans

You know how just about every holiday has been turned into a three- or four-day weekend? So I'm wondering what Blog readers think about next week, when July 4 falls on a Wednesday.

Will many people contrive a five-day weekend, either leading into or out of July 4? Or, heck, since the week is pretty well shot either way, why not just take the whole darn thing off? I'm expecting easy parking downtown all next week. You?

We are taking the whole week off and visiting friends in Chicago who will have the 5th and 6th off.

Pert near everybody else is off, so someone's gotta stay here, answer the phones, & keep the doors open... so dat's me :-(

I struggled with either taking Mon/Tues off or Thurs/Fri, so I just decided to take the whole week!

Not going anywhere...going to stay home and try out some intimidating recipes I've been too scared to try.

Next week we'll be feasting on pan seared diver scallops w/roasted red pepper paint & basil oil, lump crabmeat ravioli w/red pepper cream sauce & asparagus, and a chinese night featuring szechwan style spareribs and eggplant & green beans in spicy garlic sauce! All on different nights, of course...

Unless I just wuss out and sit in front of the tv for 5 days!

I'll be firing up the grill and enjoying what is now a fake holiday -- all week!

I'll just leave it at that.

Spending some time with a friend from out of town tomorrow through Monday. Working some Tuesday. Off Wednesday. Not in the office, but checking email Thurs and Fri. I could go to work, but it would just be me and the tumbleweeds.....

I am working this weekend, so I feel good about taking M-Tu off, and celebrating the 4th on Wed

Ch. 5 News in Fort Baptist said the beginning of the "upcoming holiday weekend." My wife looked at me with a puzzle twitch in her nose.

Since I hate July with a passion most folks would consider near insanity, I really don't care. I hate fireworks, horses, barking dogs. The only thing good about July is near neked wimmin in bikinis, at least most of them.
Cold basements are good, and the White River below the damns is good.
For fixins it's going to be salads and sandwiches all summer mixed with take out.
I can't imagine a worse hell than bending over a grill, inhaling deadly smoke to get a peice of dead animal tasting like its burnt.

We're having some friends over for a cookout and then spending the evening downtown for Pops on the River. We both love July 4th--- great day set aside to celebrate living in such a great nation!
